Thank you. Thankful that I hitched my wagon to the best band in the world. One thing is there has been some very good and constructive discussions going on in the forum over the last few days. Mostly it has been very respectful. This is when the forums are at there best. See you in October!

Thanks for the letter! It meant allot to me, specially in this period.
Between the missiles flying over my head (thanks god!) and bed time, i really want to say just - big thanks.
Hoping to see you (all the band) soon in Israel.
Dont forget to bring Jeff! (I love him so much)
Good night. Im going to bed with a huge smile on my face and tears.

Sweet first post. May you and all in your region keep safe as can be.

How was playing Tel Aviv going to help? How would playing Tel Aviv help? Neil may have cancelled his show and pledged donations, but he did so only after a period of terrible publicity that the current conflict provided a ready-made excuse to mitigate. I like Neil, but I don't think he came out of this looking very good.

I'm not sure that Neil canceled it for any other reason than safety or if it was even Neil's call. I would think any large gathering of people in Israel would be a target right now and would be canceled.

They are powerful. It means allot when you know that someone out there is carring for those who suffer.
In a way im not feeling alone in this fucked up situation here.
    Hope for better days soon.

Beautiful words that most of us knew already. It's lovely to hear it directly from Eddie though. Thanks for having the courage to speak out on the side of peace and common sense. Many of us could take this lesson. No one wins when violence is the tool used.

This is amazing. This is the kind of stuff that made me fall so madly in love with this band over 20 years ago.
It's refreshing to know that amidst all the stupidity around here with new merch, limited vinyl releases and sold out posters, there's still a real guy fronting this band, that still cares the same way he did over 20 years ago...that I can still learn from the person who contributed so much to the ideals I hold today. That he still remembers what's important.

    Thank Ed. Peace.

I don't know the reasoning either, just that the safety reason provided the perfect excuse to walk away from a show that was turning controversial. I'm sure there are/were legitimate safety concerns.

    +1 when will it stop
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

  • well put EV. amazing (peace) piece on current world news...
here's my take, while advancement of technology and further advancements in medical field have furthered our species to great heights..we are still trotting along just like our ancestors did centuries ago...point being mankind hasn't changed a whole lot...our relation to the world we create has...we're still highly opinionated. I remember reading years ago that scientists predicted that religion would eventually die out, go extinct in the coming centuries...HA! I thought "what a joke and I'm a former Catholic..."
as long as people have to the right to believe in complete, utter nonsense w/out any evidence or anything related to reality as in the modern world..violence and war will exist. Not saying religion is the root of all wars but it sure seems it has been in the last 20 years...

You aren't alone. There are many people (PJ fans and not) that are angry, disgusted, saddened by what is and continues to happen in the world.

When I saw the video of your "no war rant", I was happy that you were speaking up about it and supported it strongly. I read blogs/sites criminalizing you for speaking about peace and some of the comments on these sites made me begin to think that this world is hopeless.
Families, CHILDREN, INNOCENT PEOPLE are dying and we can't figure out how to make it stop? Instead bombs drop? What will that solve? What will come out of it? With all the good that we have inside of us and we can't PUT AN END TO THE VIOLENCE?

Please don't stop speaking about this. We need you to.

Thanks Ed. I guess people still need non-violence explained once and a while. They will always call us naive just for pointing out that war is fundamentally destructive.

I agree that it does nothing to clarify the controversy. He basically continued his speech; let his words stand. He did make it clear it wasn't addressed to any one nation, but didn't absolve those who felt slighted. It seems like some people want a pass on their violence. He isn't biting.
    Good for him.

I am not looking for a pass on violence.

I am even more curious now that he (and others) have had time to digest the reaction.

He chose not to be silent in a reaction. Kudos. But didn't address the negative reaction at all. Frankly, he just took a piss on it. I am sure there are many that are happy about that.

The simple way to silence a lot of the outrage is to place blame on Israel and Hamas for putting people in harms way.

Anti war... $$ wasted... Peace and love!

This letter is just great !

Can`t believe how someone could misunderstood Ed.
Everybody can hear it in his music - it´s all about love, peace and leading a life full of respect
and mutual understanding for all of us in this world.
I have no doubt about his honesty and we just need more like him to let people stand
up for love, hope, peace, freedom, sincere friendship and against war !

So to Ed and PJ -

don´t stop spreading your love and trying to make it a better world !

    .

Do you honestly believe that would silence any outrage? If anything that would only turn it up ten notches.

Pretty much. Placing blame on both Israel and Hamas could be interpreted as taking back his words, and he was having none of it.

If his words offended someone's nationalist sensibilities, it might be time for a look in the mirror instead of lashing out.

    Yes. I honestly do.

why would it turn it up 10 notches? If he is anti-war and all-encompassing, like he said, then it's no big deal. Just say it.
