Just one question, I agree with anything but why does he not call out Obama for Drone Strikes. Shouldn't he be asking him to put a stop to it??? If this was Bush he would call him by name.

No point in having this particular message turned into something divisive, as politics always does, when all the man wants is some peace.

And for the record, I have heard Ed specifically speaking against Obama's drone strikes at shows. He hates that violence too. Of course. :)

Eddie has always used the platform his fame provides to try to make this a better world for us all. How can you argue with someone promoting peace and love? Thank you Eddie for having the courage to stand up for what you believe in!

Thanks for reiterating what I already thought...EV is strictly anti-asshole, regardless of what flag the asshole flies (not you, Dimitris...I think Ed likes that flag...). Let's find a different way to communicate that doesn't involve destruction.

  • I gotta give this round to Neil over Eddie. Eddie yelled, Neil at least did something. And if he wants to stick to the peace, love and music message, why not play Tel Aviv like Neil was going to? The message would have more meaning there.
  • Eddie yelled and then delivered a kind of self-glorifying pacifist speech. Neil was gonna play Tel Aviv, and when he was forced to cancel, donated to cross-cultural art initiatives. That's actually trying to help.

How was playing Tel Aviv going to help? How would playing Tel Aviv help? Neil may have cancelled his show and pledged donations, but he did so only after a period of terrible publicity that the current conflict provided a ready-made excuse to mitigate. I like Neil, but I don't think he came out of this looking very good.

  • Bring the message of cross-cultural communication and tolerance into the affected area. Don't yell from the sidelines.

Thank you. Thankful that I hitched my wagon to the best band in the world. One thing is there has been some very good and constructive discussions going on in the forum over the last few days. Mostly it has been very respectful. This is when the forums are at there best. See you in October!

I'm not sure that Neil canceled it for any other reason than safety or if it was even Neil's call. I would think any large gathering of people in Israel would be a target right now and would be canceled.

Beautiful words that most of us knew already. It's lovely to hear it directly from Eddie though. Thanks for having the courage to speak out on the side of peace and common sense. Many of us could take this lesson. No one wins when violence is the tool used.

This is amazing. This is the kind of stuff that made me fall so madly in love with this band over 20 years ago.
It's refreshing to know that amidst all the stupidity around here with new merch, limited vinyl releases and sold out posters, there's still a real guy fronting this band, that still cares the same way he did over 20 years ago...that I can still learn from the person who contributed so much to the ideals I hold today. That he still remembers what's important.

    Thank Ed. Peace.

I don't know the reasoning either, just that the safety reason provided the perfect excuse to walk away from a show that was turning controversial. I'm sure there are/were legitimate safety concerns.
