A dude w a machete went ballistic on a house full of worshiping Jews.  Does that get any headlines?

Yeah, tons, including NYT front page, plus most other major news agencies, including in Canada and internationally. Are you suggesting it isn't being covered because it wasn't a firearm?
You know what?  I should be glad that someone hasn't posted the article.  Not everything should be doom and gloom on here.  But yes, because there was no gun used it will soon be forgotten.
It will be quickly forgotten not because of the weapon used but because of who was attacked.

Every incident is soon forgotten by everyone but the victims and their loved ones.

It’s getting headlines now, regardless of the method.
Yes, but not on the AET

If you want it on AET, add sports to it. Or pets ;)

Presumably you meant AMT, in which case it might be more the time of year. The only new thread in a couple of weeks or more is brian's end of the year review. People are busy doing other things, as is probably best.

Texas church goers are definitely appreciated of the 2nd amendment and the right to carry.  Pretty sure many people thought Texas would become the “Wild West”.  As usual responsible people prevail.

lol yeah they are all praising the security hero but fail to mention that the shooter was mentally unhinged and still was able to have a weapon to kill , so if the argument is more guns equals more safe space they are wrong ..

There is something very wrong in this country when places of worship (churches mosques, synagogues,  etc) feel the need to have armed security personnel due to the threat of people, mentally unstable and otherwise, coming in and shooting/killing innocent worshipers.

The normalization of more guns equals safety is underway and the NRA loves it so does this a President this country wants to reverse its civil compass and go back to the good ole days ..

I really wouldn’t consider that the Wild West.  That happens over a weekend in Chicago.

Interesting.  I thought I read that he was convicted of a felony in New Jersey and could not own a firearm.  (something like he had a 12 gauge shotgun in his truck while he was out taking photos.)

But “he acquired one anyway.” Because of a “responsible” gun owner.

How surprising that misinformation was used to propel a pro-gun agenda.

The good guy with a gun idea is a comforting fairy tale for gun fans, but like most areas of life, putting your faith in fairy tales prevents any progress toward solutions in the real world, where hard, cold data tells a different story.

But a good guy with a gun saved a hell of a lot of people in this particular case.

    firearms instructor. fired once.

being an instructor suggests a high degree of competence and proficiency.

71 yrs old too, suggests a degree of patience in such a situation. who knows what his background is beyond this that likely contributed to his success at killing this guy .

can we say your average citizen/owner/concealed carry permit holder would be as competent?
