    Yeah, I don;t think that was thought through...but I don;t believe they meant to be mean.  To be honest, I had that same initial impression and then thought about it a bit and came to your conclusion before I posted anything.  Wait till it's over and see if people are safe and then joke about the joke that is American gun control.  Someone made a similar point back to me in the Fire thread that made me think more and I agree now, gotta get out of the danger to life 1st before the discussion.
