We are at the Crowne Plaza - Downtown. Looks to be about a twenty minute walk which will be nothing compared to Wrigley!

CW234968 - A couple pages back there was talk about the Union Station, I booked at the one on Market Street...is this within walking distance of the venue (I thought it was)? Is this the crappy side of town you were referring too? I'll be there the night before the show and the night of and I'm driving in from MI so I'll be able to get around to check out some of the city - haven't been there since I was a kid visiting fam at the Air Force base.

I do have a spare set of TM tix if anyone is interested. :)

That is the same Union Station. Don't get me wrong, the area isn't 100% crappy, it just isn't the most exciting area in the city but you are within walking distance to Scottrade. It all depends on what your priorities are. It helps if you have a vehicle but if you want to go to a cool neighborhood and have a couple of drinks and refrain from driving or paying for a cab, the union station area just isn't the most ideal for you.

I see! Thanks for clearing that up. I will think about it. My main priority was to be able to walk to and fro between venue and hotel so I can knock a few back and not have to worry about driving! But I get what you mean about my down time. Hmmm.....

Is the Hilton at the Ballpark alright? I just booked a room there. I think it said .75 miles to the Scottrade Center. Walkable then...and safe I hope? Thanks!

I am having 2nd thoughts about booking the Pear Tree Inn. I've stayed there before when it was the Hampton Inn but it is not a good place to walk. Did you get a decent rate at the Hilton?

Hilton at the ballpark is a pretty good spot as there are a few good local places to go in the area but there are also some tourist-trap-like chains. Courtyard and Double Tree are a little less desirable as there are not many options for entertainment in their immediate vicinity, but you can find something decent if you're desperate. If you want to experience STL more like a local would, I suggest staying at the Parkway in the Central West End. You can get to Scottrade via train in the same amount of time it would take to walk from Courtyard or Hilton and there are a lot of great local spots in walking distance of 2-15 minutes. I'd suggest researching downtown attractions vs CWE and see what interests you more. Downtown could be nuts if the Cardinals make the playoffs and happen to have a game that night. Different people will view that in opposite ways, just throwing it out there. Odds of that happening are somewhat unlikely though.
