Newbury Comics Vinyl Releases

MedozKMedozK Posts: 9,209
Thought this would be a good place to make people aware of new releases from Newbury. They seem to be issuing lots of limited vinyl these days, and with my infatuation for colored vinyl...i am loving it.

Just announced:
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle 2x LP ('Camouflage' Vinyl) ---Looks VERY cool

The two Black Keys albums I have sound great.

I've heard in most cases it's the same stampers used for the regular version. Nothing is being recut.
  • I have 4: The Shins/Oh, Inverted World, Bon Iver/ST, Bon Iver/For Emma, & Wu-Tang/36 Chambers.

They all sound fine to me. But the packaging/labels are sort of hit or miss. For example, the Shins packaging is pretty cheap, really thin cover. The Wu-Tang album came with a god awful salmon/pink label that really clashes with the Yellow and Black swirl.

On the other hand, the Bon Iver/ST came as a nice gatefold that is different than the Red copy from Urban Outfitters. Anxiously awaiting both Bleach colors.

Unless you just want the camo vinyl, I'd look for a used older copy of the CCR. I've seen that album in used bins as much as any other.

That is some pretty cool stuff Newbury is doing with those.

The Name of This Band is Talking Heads has been shipped. Great energy on that record and a replacement for a long missing Sire cassette. 1982 was a long time ago.

No confirmation on which Elliot Smith album, but it looks like they are taking the 22nd off on releasing anything because of RSD. So we're looking at 4/29 for Elliot Smith and Tribe.

My maroon The Name of This Band of the Talking Heads is a really quiet pressing, sounds great, and it arrived 4 days before it was supposed to.

I really want to hear some reviews/opinions about these pressings from Newbury Comics.

I got The Strokes half gold half blue limited edition to 1000 copies delivered today. The first thing I ever got from Newbury. Side A sounded great! but....

Side B is messed up because of warping. I'm pissed. It's not like they can just press me another one of these so I don't know what the solution will be.
