Don't worry, man, it's not your fault. It's all of our faults for remotely believing in this team because we're so goddamn desperate for some playoff baseball.
This is the second series win for the D Backs against team over .500 since April. Fuck this team.....now watch them win 5 of their next 6. lol

I feel your pain, reds shit the bed by losing two in a row to the lowly Cubs.  Wtf.
At least Phils won the series recently, Reds haven't won since 1990.
We don't spend any damn money - I wish they would raise the proposed payroll floor up significantly - make it so all teams have to spend to a level where at least 2/3 are on similar footing.

That's a shame - that ballpark is so nice, right on the water. That was one of my favorites. People around us were really nice even though we had Phillies stuff on. Lidge blew a 3-run lead in spectacular fashion but Phillies won in extras.

Looks like they're looking to do that: https://theathletic.com/2777830/2021/08/18/sources-mlb-proposes-salary-minimum-funded-by-new-tax-on-teams-spending-180-million/

Problem is like most things MLB does it's half-baked. It shouldn't come at the expense of those teams spending. There should be more levers in place to penalize teams that do not spend a minimum salary floor.

Yeah it is a nice park - not the top tier, imo, but nice.  People are nicer in the Midwest to fellow fans, for sure.  Glad you had fun there.

Yes, agree.  I saw the stories but hadn't read yet - only that the proposed base is $100MM. That is not enough, imo.
And let the teams that want to push the envelope do so...we don't want a hard cap like the NFL.  I like that baseball is different.

It's funny that owners either bitch about some teams tanking, while other bitch that they can't compete in spending with large markets, when essentially the only significant answer to remedy it is to mandate a hard floor while not penalizing more teams for spending. If anything the most I could agree with is increased revenue sharing. But it's comical to think owners are going to scream poor. Maybe don't own a professional sports team then.

Totally.  There are plenty of rich mofos out there who would love to own teams over these ancient fuzzy old men.

well yea when your team has no spending limit of course you don't want a hard cap or any cap.   I mean the current system is fantastic for the Yankees and Dodgers.  It's even fairly good for the Phillies.  It just would suck to be a fan in a smaller market.

Does anyone think the MLBPA would go for this?(especially the $180 MIL)

They don't mind a floor, definitely do not want the tax threshold decreasing.

Good to know broadcasting for the Phils works by nepotism, and now I have to deal with McCarthy's son.
