My next car will be a rivian suv, those are sweet

i actually saw one a few weeks ago for the first time. Thing that caught my eye about them were the vertical and oblong headlights.
those headlights are the one thing I don’t like about the styling.

dumb, like cybertrucks. dumb like 50% of our country.
Know someone who bought an early truck from Rivian.  Totally badass.  Until it needed a repair.  Took months and months.  They had no replacement parts.  Then, they kept fucking up the repairs.
If someone is looking to buy, I know someone who'd happily sell. .it is all set now, and very cool, but used all of his patience.
Was going to say assuming they stay in business and all. Always a pain with these news cars, especially electric I’m sure.

I like the lights at night more than during the day but love the car. I’m also not close to buying a new car, but definitely what I want next
Like I said, it is badass.  Have done a few trips in it and I love it.  (Didn't pay for it!)

Still loving my G.  Did you end up buying Korean?
Nooope. Wife put the halt on that. Wasn’t economical for what we needed at the time. Jeep grand Cherokee, which we do love, so was a good decision. 2.5 years in with less than 25k miles and a reasonable payment so will likely stretch it out a while
Excellent, always good to like the purchase you made.

    Turnout seems way down.

    81MM/71MM Biden/Trump

    71MM/66MM Trump/Harris

But also at the same time basically hard right movement in a lot of places. White working class voter is basically dead with Dems, 18-24 to white dudes showed up for Trump, and Latino, men especially, went his way. And to all those people they can absolutely go get fucked.
I wonder how the Latinos will feel if Trump does what he says(Mass Deportation) when their  Families are separated?
my wife taught a ton of hispanic kids in her career….she said the kids and families were almost always great but that the fathers often had the macho gene….thus their reluctance to vote for a woman rather than the phony macho man?
    That could be, I guess.

Though, It seems pretty obvious that  America is not ready to Elect a woman for President.

I mean it's a theory but at the end of the day he got the popular vote and turnout was down. I'm gonna guess imo the basic theme is: change always wins. With the subset on that being: It's the Economy, Stupid - specifically, the perception vs. the reality of it. Because I would love to know what these people think will drive prices down lol.

Anytime inflation comes up these idiots love to blame Biden, and then my first question always is: ok, then what's the excuse for the entire rest of the world?

Scarcity mindset. Someone else is benefitting? Oh it must mean something is being taken away from me. Humans are garbage, this country is garbage. Good morning lol

The inflation stuff is interesting. The markets going crazy after hours when it started to look like he was going to win, and it continuing yesterday was interesting.  I really don't get a lot of that stuff, but from what I understand, to a limited extent, is that he will obviously be pro-business and with the spending (tax cuts) that inflation is not expected to see significant changes so putting money in stocks is a solid bet.  But to that point...inflation is not expected to see significant changes

Basically all inflation is due to a post-covid world. If it wasn't then not every country would be dealing with it. And to that point every country has been substantially worse as opposed to ours being relatively ok.

Inflation is basically back to 2/3% in our country but that's excluding housing. Which is an entirely different subject on its own.

Inflation was/is/will continue to come down if  approached the way it has been. It's not an overnight fix, but people don't want to hear that.

But if these idiots think tariffs are the answer lol holy shit watch how much worse it gets.

Pro business tax cuts never net the benefits to society that the Rs promise for anyone but billionaires.

The end result is the people that ended up making the difference are going to be the ones that will feel much much worse economic pain.

But like I said I'll be fine, fuck em, learn the hard way (which will be they'll never learn). I'll see 'em when we're hitting another recession and they're begging for more handouts and free shit, like every other time Rs control all forms of government and puts us in that kind of mess. It's a cycle, people have amnesia from basically every major recession in this country for over 100 years. Voters have the memory of a fucking gnat, people are greedy. What about me,what's in it for me, fuck em all real hard.

And this is all without even getting to the point of people losing autonomy over their bodies & rights all because someone's worried about the price of eggs.

Everything JP said. I'm pretty numb at this point. They will whine about the guaranteed Republican Recession, which will arrive like clockwork, then some Dem will come in and fix it, and then they will get voted out again. Stupid fucking country.

As for Hispanic men - yeah there are issues of sexism and racism there. But let's be clear, the real problem is white voters.

Maybe Casey will come back and win but his campaign really sucked.

I just can't believe there were issues with turnout with the insane amount of GOTV volunteering. People can vote by not voting, and I guess that's what they wanted to do.

In 2016 it was shock because it felt like progress was a straight line, so willing to give the benefit of the doubt, look inward, meet people where they're at, all that nonsense. Then in 2020 it's not lost on me that he most likely would have been re-elected if he didn't handle covid so badly. Then this time around it's mostly just anger and disgust at this point. Maybe that'll change but at this point any conversation at the Thanksgiving table that regretfully will come up will be met with 'fuck you you're garbage' instead of 'thats interesting, I hear what you're saying.'

Anyone think that Trump could have rigged/tampered the election results, especially in PA? Thought crossed my mind and my mom actually thinks the same thing . She thinks the truth will come out before January that him, Musk and the Russians/Putin tampered with the election. I wouldn't put it past him but I'm not sure. I hope this happens but we shall see.

I don't question he tried, but that's not the reason he won. Though you could go extend this into media coverage and other poison that voters consume could have been influenced by such backers. But regardless, he won because the majority of people who voted elected him.

When they lose it's cheating, when they win of course it was legitimate.

I can't wait for Inauguration Day when the Capitol looks just like it did on J6....

I posted this in the AMT, but since you guys are talking about....it comes down to this: people being misinformed largely because they get their news from an app run by a billionaire supporter of Trump, who loves the poorly educated.

Regarding inflation--the bond market's reaction, not only in the last couple days, but over the last 6 weeks since he started going up in the polls tells you what you need to know. They're bracing for inflation to make a u-turn if his dumb tariff and deportation policies come to fruition. The fact that he wants to have a say in interest rates too is, obviously, a fucking disaster waiting to happen.

That's what I was getting at... I don't understand all of that, but didn't understand why would the market do well if inflation is expected to go back up...makes sense now.

Is there a direct correlation though?-guess it depends on what kind of stock. But we have been hitting all time highs in the stock market even as inflation has been elevated over the last few years.

Crazy stuff. Unemployment is at about 4%, wage growth is basically the same. What they (when that dipshit Elon says people need pain lol) is the ability to increase corporate growth and profits while eviscerating the workforce. The only way you can possibly do that is through manipulating policy - ie relax rules re: mergers, PE M&A, loosening rules on SPACs, etc.

well, we’re about to see it. Also, that Bob Casey campaign was just pathetic. So low energy. This hole is gonna take a really long time to dig out of.
