Isn’t American League baseball just great?  4 hours for 9 innings.  Awful. Can’t wait until the bullshit DH comes to the NL and this becomes more normal in the NL

It'll get even worse when they get rid of the zombie runner.

Speaking of zombie runners, remember playing backyard baseball with "ghostmen" as the baserunners? Ah those were the days.

"Ghost Man on 2nd!"  Yooooo...I haven't thought about that in probably 15-20 years, but yeah.

We just said "runner" but ghost or invisible would have been better.
We tried to utilize much smaller siblings as base runners, to pretty horrible result.

Now what were some of your guys' Ghostman rules? Some of ours included...

-The ghostman is at the same spot in his base path as the batter is in his. So if there was a ghostman on first, stepping on second base before the batter/runner gets to first would be a force-out at second.

-Sticking with the "ghostman is at the same spot in his base path as the batter is in his" premise, a double would score a a ghostman from second, but if the ghostman was on first, he'd end up on third after a double, even though in real baseball a runner on first would likely score on a double.

-Ghostmen are always forced to run. So with a ghostman on second and grounder hit in the infield, the ghostman would have to run to third, and can be forced out at third if you stepped on third before the batter/runner reached first.

-Ghostmen can't be tagged (they're GHOSTS after all). Only forced out at bases.

Of my over 14,000 posts on this message board, this was by far the most important.

It absolutely is. The invisible man moved with the hit - single he'd move one base, double he'd move two.

I really wanna play some wiffleball after all this talk.

I'd vomit on myself if this happened. I'm toying with the idea of bringing the kids to the boardwalk when we're down there in a couple weeks. This would be my first time there in at least 15 years. I know I will instantly regret it.

Unrelated - but the Phillies retiring Doc's number is fraudulent right?

Yes, the fact doc is retired before chase is the biggest disgrace in baseball history

Yes, I agree on Halladay's number with the Phillies being retired.

Something like the 7th to the 15th or some shit. My goal is an everyday cycle of being woken up ass early by children, coffee, load cooler with beers, throw kids in double stroller, beach all day, jump in pool, shower, dinner, kids to bed, blackout drunk, rinse repeat.

(Grinds My Gears segment incoming) I just don't think he should have his number retired at all. He was here, what, 4 years? Two of them were outstanding years, sure, but my old man take is you need to have at least an arbitrary 6 years with a team to even sniff at being considered for number retirement. And the older man take in me is that we shouldn't expedite this because the guy did a loopty loop, in a toy plane, over a body of water, while all banged up.
