So is today the day? Will Bryce be at first? What was up with that weird at bat last night?

And are we trading for Ohtani?...that's a joke.
We shall see if he plays first today. Missed the weird at bat. what happened? Hoping for a series victory today.

It was very strange. Reminded me of an at-bat I saw an end-of-the-line Jeff Conine have years ago….

saw it on social media. six straight pitches without moving his bat. Def. out of the ordinary, not sure what was up with that. Almost got the walk though.

Least we didn't get swept. Bryce looks comfortable at first like he's been playing it for entire life.

Is the plan to move Bryce back to the OF in '24 when his elbow is fully recovered? Anyway, yeah he looked awesome at 1B, although I wanted to slap him when he careened into that camera well to catch a foul ball.

I think it is, but given the situation I think it would help things out tremendously if he magically became the full-time first baseman for the rest of his career here - or at least would be able to freely move between OF and 1B.

last time i was at Camden Yards was in '09 I think. Gorgeous stadium and probably one of the few nice things about Baltimore. Surprised that the O's have the best record in the AL now.

Just an awful game managing for Topper.
    • Lousy spring training lineup - Josh Harrison? Really?
    • Fails to challenge the dropped fly ball. We need to know who, um, dropped the ball on that one.
    • Dawdles out to home plate while the $300M SS is getting himself thrown out of the game.
    • Doesn't pinch run Marsh for Schwarber in the 8th. Schwarber scored anyway - so he got away with that one.
    • Schwarber still in LF, just can't get that game winning blooper.
    • Leaves Rojas in the game with 2 outs and 2 on in the 9th - Marsh still on the bench!!! The guy with an .814 OPS
    Arrgh.

Put Stott in leadoff and Schwarber like 5th or 6th. Not sure what's wrong with Turner but yeah he didn't have a great game defensively...

Yeah rough one for Topper. I would still just put Turner at leadoff and leave him there. He is going to start hitting again.

He's hitting at least a little better when nobody is in scoring position, so I guess batting 1st makes sense.

I just don't see this slump lasting an entire season though, do you? Usually everything evens out, which means he should catch fire in last couple months. Fingers crossed!

His BABIP is .310 compared to his career avg of .340, so supposedly we can expect some correction to the mean there. But otherwise his K% is way higher than his career, which is basically him swinging at breaking balls 9" out of the strike zone whenever somebody is on 2nd or 3rd base. And the fielding is just crazy - I've never seen anyone make this many errors. Maybe the ejection last night will be a turning point.

I mean I keep telling myself, "He can't keep playing this badly right?....right?" And then he just does exactly yet. Over the course of the 10 year contract will he be this bad? No, I don't think so. But this year might certainly be more shit than good tho. Which sucks.

Baseball is just so different now. It matters to be the best in the league, but not by that much anymore - as long as they're in contention and can slip into the playoffs, one way or another (because this team is still very flawed in some ways) all ya gotta do is get hot at the right time.
