Haha, I don't know what to make of this map. I'm actually in the 3rd now since we moved but used to be in the 5th. And they actually moved the South Philly border further south. So, if anything, you're gaining basically just the Republicans in Girard Estates and Packer Park. I don't expect MGS making anymore trips to South Philly, haha...

Minor beef with this Abbot Elementary show is the older white teacher. I like the character in general. But I think she's trying to hard to mimic Kate Winslet's Delco accent.

The italian broad? I think she's going for more of the "South Philly Tough Talkin'" thing here, while Winslet leaned into the long O's.

Whatever that lady is funny. I'm not gonna nit-pick too much. Loved the Tire Iron guy coming in to talk to the kids. "The students have started collectively bargaining and now they all have pensions."

I haven’t seen the show but my wife taught for 20 years and I used to go in on career day. I was pretty popular but my wife said the most popular guy was the vending machine guy….he had samples. he asked the kids where they had seen vending machines. one kid said “when we visit my brother in jail.”

I'm just gonna assume everyone is watching Abbott Elementary...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2HNZqfrCII
it's on my list of shows to watch. i know t takes place around philly bans also supposedly pretty good show.

i watched it, enjoyable. Didn't know it was a mockumentary sitcom. Don't think it is as funny as The Office or Parks and Rec but has its moments. Only actors I recognized were the sub (he played Chris Rock in Everybody Hates Chris) and the "old" teacher I recognized her name from some sitcoms from the 80's/90's.

Apparently the season is gonna be delayed for another stupid work stoppage. I don't even care anymore.

Sounds like they are giving themselves today to hammer it out and start on time?

I haven't gotten worked up about it. I didn't/don't see them missing games. Too much to lose.

    CBA seems very pro-owners though

Yeah, seems like to me from everything that the owners know they can make just as much money having ~144-ish games as 162 so they don't mind.

Thank god they didn't go to 14 teams for the playoffs though.

Win your division go straight to division series seemed like a decent system. Oh well. Gotta make more cash.

Also, I feel the need to make a declaration. After much deliberation, and listening, the new Vedder album is......really, really good. Not quite what I'd want the next PJ album to be, but certainly more in the ballpark of what I've been wanting out of a PJ album since at least Avocado.

That beard fucking threw me off on Clark but assumed it was him. Other than that Scherzer.

I don't think this sport will never not have a problem with markering its players.

Yet another issue of baseball: they absolutely suck at marketing their players.

    hey ohhhh

Anyway, my opinion on all this is, yes, the top tier of players get paid a fuck ton (deservingly so), and the other 2/3's of players should be paid more, and that minor leaguers should be unionized and paid more. Annnnd the owners can go fuck themselves. I say this mainly based around their bonus pools and the luxury tax disparities.

Any of you know any good engineers in the philly area?
Looking to hire all disciplines, would have a finder's fee.
This job market is fucking nuts.  Normal job postings for great positions would see a handful of great candidates apply.  Right now, zero good applicants.  Have to hunt folks down....
Anyway, great company experiencing tremendous growth.  Let me know if you or anyone you know has a connection to someone looking to upgrade their job in Pharma / Bio / Chem / Industrial engineering.
