That was awesome. Happy for Harper. I was sitting there in my recliner, sipping wine, saying aloud (though nobody was in the room with me) "Okay Bryce. Bottom of the 9th, down one, runners on first and second, for 330 million dollars, walk one off now.......and he did! Good for him.

Nice win. 4 hits through 8 innings was awful. Then we have 4 hits in the 9th. I still think the hitting is worse than the pitching on this team.
    Alright, alright, alright!

    Here’s an oversimplification:
The offense is underperforming with not much depth, especially after Cutch went down
    The bullpen is injured.
The rotation after Nola is not very good.

Dave Robertston out for the season at this point? I haven't heard anything about him.

I heard he was getting closer a few weeks ago. Who knows? Seems like whenever someone gets close or even comes back there is a set back and then they're out for another month or two

If he’s available, along with basically every other team in baseball. Lol.

No fucking thanks on Robbie Ray, for the Phillies or Yankees. Anyone the Phillies get would have to have control moving forward because there is no point in going for rentals with this team

I think in both cases they're kinda the same - Minor has another year at $9.3M on his deal and Ray is "controllable" as he still falls under arbitration for next year.

Yeah, which is why everyone will be in on Minor. I am just saying someone like Bumgarner doesn't make sense for this team.

    Robbie Ray stinks though too

I do not want Bumgarner. I'd rather them just not do anything and sink or swim (mostly sink!) with what they got.

^ Came here to say something about this and Neris.

I'm a nerd for statistics and leaning on them for practically everything. The only "eye test"/gut feeling I believe about winning teams are that they learn to grow together, grow to win together.

And my gut is this team will get punked time and time again. I like Neris getting fired up and yelling 'fuck you'. Then Realmuto pulls him back, puts his glove out to the Dodgers bench to almost say, "sorry about that, it's alright." Now, yelling 'fuck you' is pretty egregious but sometimes ya gotta let it out ya know?

Muncy stomps on Hoskins' foot (twice!), they do nothing. Neris goes Major League 2 Marbles, Dodgers stick around (not even in their own ballpark) ready to go after Neris, rest of the team does nothing. Kapler forces his ejections, I get that he's not a big "rah rah" guy, which is fine. But I do believe the makeup/leadership of this team starts with the manager and I think the players yawn at him.

Yes, meatheads love this shit. Harper doesn't watch an ounce of film, but I know he'd get a boner for that.

Absolutely. And it all starts with Roberts at the top - gain every edge you can. Kapler should be genuinely livid about it, but instead he musters fake rage when he's supposed to be "appropriately" ejected.

Girardi would have been starting a fight with Roberts himself.  Point being, Phillies need to hire Girardi yesterday.  Might not be a "players" manager, but not sure that is what the Phillies need.

Why was he let go from the Yankees in the first place? Never understood that.

  • I have said all along that Kapler is a butthole.

LOVE that Cliffy is still sore @ Roberts, 15 years later!
    Baseball is so great.
The love he receives is the love that is saved

Boone has grown on me a bit this year, but from what I understand, he maybe wasn't as aligned with analytics as they would have liked and I think the major thing was after 10 years, his intensity was getting a bit much, especially with some of the younger kids.  They wanted more of a players manager. I am a big Girardi fan.  He is a good manager and a great dude.

Too hard on the younger players or not, I'd take him on the Phillies in a heartbeat.
