Has anyone purchased a subscription to The Athletic?
Yes. 100% worth the price of admission.
Did you get one of the 50% off deals?  It's only at 25% now.  I pay for so much stuff...NY Times, New Yorker, Golfer's Journal, it's tough to add something else to the list, but every good baseball writer is there.  Gelb, Chad Jennings, Carig....

I'll probably pull the trigger but so much content out there to pay for these days.

I got some discount when they first started. Don't think it was 50% though.

I think it's worth it. I rarely ever go anywhere else for local sports coverage anymore. Their national stuff is pretty good too and they keep on bringing in new, established talent.

Long form and analysis. And the website is just so fucking clean compared to anything else. No pop ups or videos that start playing right away. No adds (obviously).

The only (minor-very minor) grip I have is sometimes the game recaps are not up in a timely matter. Like sometimes it's not till after 8am. They have gotten better at that over the last couple months though.

Other thing is the comment section is not the cesspool that is other website's comment sections. A lot of the comments are insightful and the writers respond on a fairly regular basis. It's a pretty good dialogue.

I've been debating to get the Athletic or not. Thanks for that info.

the weird thing is i think McCarthy is really good on college basketball. I guess because less down time and he doesn't have time to yuck it up like he does on the Phils games. If he would learn to stop with the annoying giggles he might be good on baseball.

I have gradually made it my favorite spot down the shore - it's not in Capy May "proper" but check out The Red Store for breakfast/brunch.

Also, Mad Batter for breakfast, and The Blue Pig in Congress Hall.

And of course stop at Cape May Brewing, and Cold Spring Brewing.

I'm moving my boat to the inlet between CM and the Crest.

Well I would say Nola would be the front runner for the Cy Young if Max Scherzer wasn't in the NL.

Not sure if anyone saw The Goldbergs last night but Barry had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Phillies game.  It was pretty funny.

This is what the Phillies do -- awful promos because they're an awful franchise.
Bunch of no talent ass hats promoting crappy bands and banking on nostalgia to get people to go watch Ryhs Hoskins try to catch pop flies he can't get to because he's playing out of position because he's being blocked by a past his prime first baseman who got way too much money (sound familiar???) and can't hit his weight.

I seriously could run this franchise better than andy macdipshit.  I hope they lose every game until that hot, steaming turd is canned like tuna

fuck the phillies.  cannot root for stupidity

Acuna, Albies, Freeman -- those are the kind of guys the Phillies should be developing.  Instead we are left w Mickey Moniak as the first overall pick and the diarrhea pellets from the terrible hamels trade.

This franchise is the Dave Matthews of sports -- loved by many, tons of blindly loyal fans -- who are all really guilty of supporting some of the worst shit ever created.
