@Cliffy6745 - after further review, you are right, the "new" Love Park is a pieceashit.
I have absolutely no idea what they did besides plant a little grass.  They tore everything up only to put down a little grass. Everything else looks the same. Good thing that $20 mil didn't go to our crap broke school system...
And they put a bunch of dumb benches and levels in, which you cannot sit on comfortably. Apparently there's a term for this crap - "hostile architecture."
It is infuriating.  Good thing the Bok Building is a shuttered school and is now full with hipster bars while Love Park is closed for 2 years for that crap.

Wait, what? What's one got to do with the other.

Big fan of Bok. I'll cut you.

That $17 or whatever million went into pointless renovations of a park when a valuable public vocational school is closed.

Edit: Bok is just an example. Dillworth renovations, cool, it made a big difference to a very public space at city hall. I am all for fixing/improving park space (I see you Delaware waterfront), but make it worthwhile.

Don't know how valuable that school was as a trade school. These stupid fucking labor unions never even looked to tap into those resources. Meanwhile, Johnny fuckin' Doc and Bill Keller start up their own "trade" school and have employed their own brood and have had zero graduates into the labor force. Don't get me started (please get me started). I have no problem with unions (mostly in theory, and for professional services) but labor unions can get fucked - specifically in this city is what I'm really talking about; their corruption and antiquated structure can go pound sand.

Moving control of the school district away from the state and into the city's hands is a step in the right direction. But, as you say, look what they did with Love Park.

Their gonna fuck up that Delaware River project, mostly because who the developer is - I believe they want a shit ton of parking and essentially strip malls. I mean that's exactly what I'm looking for in the city...

I am fairly anti-union at this point. They run way too much and have too much power in general.  I don't know anyone that went to Bok, but I have heard decent things though.  Regardless, the point stands that schools are closing and they do that with Love Park.  Johnny Doc charter money laundering school.  How have the Feds not shut that thing down yet?

Yeah, my neighborhood is up in arms about some of the plans.  Some of them have that supermarket you were referencing a while back though.  But yeah. South Street to Penn Treaty is generally great (outside of the casino that shall remain nameless). More of that and less malls.

Is that dude rocking aviators and throwing side arm? If so, he is my hero.  They are probably just those flip glasses, but I really really hope they are aviators.

I actually hated him as an announcer. He was always paired up with Andy Musser on Sports Channel. Musser always seemed like the JV team and Teke always seemed pretty boring to me. Think it was his voice

Phillies off to their best home start since '81 at 8-1. Starting pitching has been outstanding.

Did you get one of the 50% off deals?  It's only at 25% now.  I pay for so much stuff...NY Times, New Yorker, Golfer's Journal, it's tough to add something else to the list, but every good baseball writer is there.  Gelb, Chad Jennings, Carig....

I'll probably pull the trigger but so much content out there to pay for these days.

Another question, is there long form stuff?  It's not all just analysis right?

I got some discount when they first started. Don't think it was 50% though.

I think it's worth it. I rarely ever go anywhere else for local sports coverage anymore. Their national stuff is pretty good too and they keep on bringing in new, established talent.

Long form and analysis. And the website is just so fucking clean compared to anything else. No pop ups or videos that start playing right away. No adds (obviously).

The only (minor-very minor) grip I have is sometimes the game recaps are not up in a timely matter. Like sometimes it's not till after 8am. They have gotten better at that over the last couple months though.

Other thing is the comment section is not the cesspool that is other website's comment sections. A lot of the comments are insightful and the writers respond on a fairly regular basis. It's a pretty good dialogue.
