no surprise Jim Carrey has the correct take on this.
I like how he corrects Gayle and says “uh, no it didn’t escalate to that, it came out of no where.”

haha, I've seen many hypotheticals about if/what Will would have done had it been a different presenter. Ricky Gervais being my favourite. He would have slapped Will right back.

Smith should get banned from the Oscars for the next 5 years. Some say take his award away; disagree. not a natural consequence. one has nothing to do with the other.

Smith may have inadvertently made Rock's stock rise a ton. How many people WON'T tune into his next special? Whichever streaming service picks it up will likely have to pay BIG.
    another win for milos!

Chris Rock gets a double standing O in Boston tonight. Makes no mention of Slappy.

Or its just damage control PR.
I mean, you don't "ask him to leave" and allow him to refuse.
You have security escort him out onto Hollywood Boulevard.

Again, it's still a spineless look either way.

Probably what you mean by spineless, but since he didn’t actually leave it was probably a suggestion. Like “hey, umm….yeah Will…..do you think it might be a good idea if you sit the rest of this one out? O, you don’t? Okay, great…”
If you ask someone to leave and you mean it, they leave or you get security.
I actually felt bad for Chris. More because he had to keep coming back and look at Will front row knowing no one had his back for the rest of the night than the slap itself.

I think this is a better punishment than a ban. Put Will front center again, Dwane is the host and makes fun of Jada all night. See how Will reacts when it’s someone actually bigger than him.

Yeah, if it were Gervais, Will Smith would’ve been dragged out in cuffs. Black-on-Black violence, on the other hand, is acceptable.

That angle explains more. I thought it was odd I haven’t seen a comment. And Will actually laughs at the joke first, then sees the look on Jada’s face like “you better do something.” You know there’s 100 professional cameras in that place, but they aren’t releasing any of that other stuff. I think this will hurt both their careers, and I hope it does.
