Chris Rock should have busted a cap in his ass. Too bad it wasn’t broadcast from Flo Rida where he could have claimed that he feared for his life and stood his ground. Now that would have made for an Oscar presentation to talk about.

Speaking of comedy clubs and celebrities, did anyone catch the dude who approached Mike Tyson at a comedy club, Mike was sitting front row, and the guy just keeps saying, “all I need is a go with you Mike, c’mon, Mike, make me,” and when security tries to get him away, he pulls a gun, everyone backs off and scrambles, Mike just sits there and eventually they hug and the guy bails out an exit? Then the comic tries to make a joke but can’t really fathom what just happened. Seems to me the guy wanted a swing from Mike so he could do something back and be IG famous. Fucked up.

I’m not an Amy Schumer fan, but her “did I miss anything?” bit saved the tone of the show. It’s a shame that Will Smith’s actions took the attention off Questlove’s speech though.

There is no excuse for what Smith did. The violence and intent should not be ignored and, at the very least, he should have apologised to Rock in his speech. You could say that it was a bad taste joke, but Smith was laughing at it until he saw the look on his wife’s face. If any of the 3 female hosts had made that joke, he wouldn’t have done anything.

I really hope he isn’t invited back next year to present an award.

If Burt Ward or Chris O'Donnel would have made the joke, he might have not either.

It could have been something brewing between him and Chris Rock. They are not strangers to each other. Or Chris Rock joking about them.

Just saying, widening the scope a little from this female vs male" thing.

Still weird he wasn't immediately removed from the show. I can not see it as a possibility of him staying on if it was here in Sweden.

You guys don’t have stars this big over there though. And if ya did, hopefully you wouldn’t treat them like deities as our society does. Forget slapping him like Smith did. Jack Nicholson could’ve shot Rock dead and still stuck around to receive some sort of lifetime achievement award.

I wouldn’t strip him of his Oscar but smith should have been escorted out right after the incident.

the media has been pointing out the "history" between Smith and Rock. when Rock hosted in 2016, he made fun of the Smiths' boycott of the Oscars over Smith not being nominated for (whatever movie it was). Rock said Jada boycotting the Oscars is like Rock boycotting Rhianna's panties: I wasn't invited!

that was pretty funny. But really? trying to say this constitutes "history" between them? stupid.

Smith should get banned from the Oscars for the next 5 years. Some say take his award away; disagree. not a natural consequence. one has nothing to do with the other.

Smith may have inadvertently made Rock's stock rise a ton. How many people WON'T tune into his next special? Whichever streaming service picks it up will likely have to pay BIG.

On the local news channel they were doing some extreme mental gymnastics to say this was a racist incident, which I just couldn’t make make sense.

because it doesn't. I just read someone say the same thing on Twitter. literally everyone responding was confused as hell.

I have read elsewhere, however, that black women have historically been the subject of high scrutiny when it comes to hair, and that is somehow it became racist? Because Chris Rock crossed the line talking about a black woman's hair? FFS.
