Finale was OK. Farrell, McAdams, and Vaughn had really good individual performances for the season, but the plot was just too fucking confusing most of the time. Definitely felt like I was saying "who the hell is that guy?" to myself constantly throughout the season. Not the best, but still a lot better than most shows on TV these days.
Agree. A longer season would have given them more time to flesh the characters out. The finale was a little all over the place.
Longer season would have helped with that many characters. but overall, I really enjoyed the season. Unlike Season 1 where they only took down the lawnmower man and could not get into the the bigger picture of the power behind the Cult and its kidnappings. This season the "detectives" were in way over the heads and ended up losing.
In season 1 they took down the killer but they also lost the larger battle. It closed out with nothing coming of the whole Tuttle links to child sex/murders. It made it seem as if it was still swept under the rug. I think there is a parallel in that sense.

agree with the 'who the hell is that guy' deal. way too many characters for only 8 episodes. I did kind of like the fact that Vaughn and Farrell didn't survive. thought that was good. Farrell and McAdams were really good all 8 episodes.
one question though - who the fuck was the baby at the end? whose was it and did they ever explain it? was it Vaughns' chick adopted a kid? is so why was McAdams holding the kid as they left. did i miss it? was confused at that point.

Pretty sure it was Farrell's. I thought they said his name quickly about the kid. Or his "two" kids or something along those lines.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
Yeah the child at the end is Farrell and McAdams' kid. She said to the reporter that she owed it to his "sons" to get the story out.
ok yea i remember that comment now and i thought it might be hers with him because i thought her getting sick on the boat was a bit of a clue about her being pregnant at the time too. kind of strange how they just kind of added that to the end though.
i liked it alot!! asnd the song at the finale.. Lera Lynn - Lately...was EPIC!!!

Enjoyed the finale and there was some smaller shit I didn't catch. Last year I researched episodes to figure some of it out but didn't this year. The fucking mumbling of Farrell and mcadams' characters won't be missed. Lots of "wtf did they just say" rewinds and that was annoying. I understand why they use the sound like that but most of us don't watch in surround sound with the volume at 11.
As much as I did enjoy this season it did make me miss the genius dialogue from first season.
Since I've been home sick and useless all weekend I caught up on this. Since I watched six out of eight episodes in two days you'd think I'd be able to keep track of the characters names and connections with no problems, but I couldn't. I employed a similar tactic as F ME did by nicknaming them. Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, and Colin Farrell all get their real names cuz I know them. Vince Vaughn's wife - the chick from black box Taylor Kitchsomething - Gambit The black dude - there was honestly only one, good job HBO. The black lady - see above Hamish - that motherfucker who survives and shot down gambit. I forget why I know him as Hamish. It might be his real name. Every single other character - "that guy" "that guy in relation to character x"
Definitely too many characters in such a tiny run. Too many storylines that didn't all neatly wrap up together the way it seemed they wanted it to. The pacing was awful, over the course of the series. I mean I enjoyed it, and I'm not comparing it to last series, but it had potential to be way better if they would've whittled down the story a bit. I also didn't like that "the women" were basically the only ones to survive from the like inner circle main cast. Besides Colin Farrell's dad, if you count him, you've got his ex wife & son, the chick from black box, Rachel McAdams & her kid, Gambit's baby mama & mother, and the chick from the bar (with the scar on her face). Even the sister survives, I think, while the mall cops shot the brother & black dude. Only dude that survives was Hamish & the mayor's son or whatever.
Also don't really like how probably about a year after that shit happens Rachel McAdams & the chick from black box are all teamed up & still escorted by Vince Vaughn's boy. I mean where are they getting money to live off? Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell had the retirement cash on then when they died. The Mexicans took Vaughn's cash but he had $3 million in diamonds in his pocket, meaning some birds had one hell of an expensive meal. The girls fled with nothing, and I don't think any of them speak Spanish. They figured out at some point that Vaughn ain't coming, and so what, his boy is just gonna accept his body guard post for life? I don't think so, Tim.
That guitarist chick from the bar though, you da real mvp. Seriously though she was good.
Oh since someone mentioned In Bruges being a turning point for Colin Farrell, I'll recommend Seven Psychopaths as well. It's honestly probably in my top 5of all time, definitely at least top 10. It's also a great performance by Sam Rockwell who is the most underrated actor in the history of ever.

Vaughn gave his wife what $100,000.00 cash when she left...that can go a long way in Mexico.

Haha, true. Very true. On the original watches I should do that. Allows me to re-watch knowing what they said and looking at the camera work.

We started using CC out of necessity after our daughter was born in 2010 so that we could watch our shows without waking her up in our tiny Brooklyn apartment. She and her brother (born in 2012) sleep through the night now in our much bigger house, but we still use CC (except for sports).

My bad I didn't notice that part. That does invalidate my argument cuz it can also be partially used as seed money for some dealings run by Mr. Bodyguard Dude. Thanks for pointing it out.
+1 for captions here. I can't watch TV without them.

Train spotting is further proof.
I second that post on Rockwell. He's my favorite living actor now that PS Hoffman is gone.
I saw him in a mesmerizing Off-Broadway play by Stephen Adly Guirgis and directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who sat in the row behind me in his director's costume -- namely, a beret. That play was called The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and Rockwell played Judas; one of my all-time favorite actors/writers, Eric Bogosian, played Satan.
A few years later I saw Rockwell in a wickedly hilarious Broadway play by Martin McDonagh called A Behanding in Spokane with Christopher Walken, Zoe Kazan and Anthony Mackie. Awesome cast. Awesome show.
He also kicks much ass in The Way Way Back. That scene at the end when he steps to Steve Carell is pefect.
^Especially that scene where he consoles Carell's potential stepson while he's crying. Sucks to see him in a pointless horror remake like Poltergeist, though.

I'll have to wait. Dish Network and HBO decided that now would be a good time to have a dispute and temporarily remove HBO. Their bullshit games better be done by early April.

Have not seen Season 2.
Season 3 is so far really lovely.
S2 - Good
S3 - Very good (will be interesting to see how it ends)
S3 jumps around a lot which can be a little confusing. Might need to rewatch to catch everything.
