Very bad ice storm! No power or heat! This really blows! Downed power lines and trees......fun shit!

This sounds pretty fun for sure.

Throw in a shitty ice scraper and you are fooked.

Still no fucking power. Staying with various friends and family. Now starting to worry about pipes freezing. Left some faucets open a little. This is far from over. :fp:

Ice storms suck. Had to deal with a really bad one in western NY in '76. Being a California native it was weird watching purple flashes as transformers went down around the neighborhood, living in a freezing house with no power, seeing huge elm fall on to and crush a neighbor's garage, seeing all the houses along Lake Erie covered with muddy lake spray turning them all into gingerbread houses and falling on my ass every time I walked out the front door.

We got snowed/iced in here at home for a few day and people all around here were complaining and I told the, "This ain't nothin'!"

Hang in there- hope things turn around soon!

    Shitty.

Goes to show you how brutal it would be if everything just stopped. Imagine if everyone was forced to deal with each day as nature had intended for us?

I read an interesting piece where the writer projected into the future describing big cities as wastelands and highways as scary things.

It does make you appreciate the simple things in life. Hopefully, the power will be restored by Sunday. We've been staying with friends and family. It's nice to have people reach out to you! Sometimes a little overwhelming. :D

started with 3 glasses of jameson and ginger ale, then went to a couple of glasses of wine, then went to beer. had a tequila shot or two in between all that. i failed to eat dinner beforehand and did not eat when i got home. all of that is probably a terrible combination. i need to be more responsible... :fp: :fp:

    Too much mixing of booze.
Stick with just one, throw in a shot or 2 here and there. (Or have a shot every 10 minutes)
But 4-5 different types of drinks? You are asking for misery.

    As you are well aware.

definitely too much mixing of booze. i like variety though. i get very bored drinking the same thing when out on a bender.

you know i can hang, speedy. i mixed all kinds of different booze that night in chicago and i did not even go to sleep until 9 pm the next night.

I here ya. But even a trained professional like myself gets sicker than all hell when I mix 5-6 different beverages.

    For me its easy.
12-20 beers and a half a bottle of jaeger.

    Im good.

Mixing is only a problem with newbs or freshman in college.
Having a solid food base before the drink will save you every time.
Alcohol decreases your blood sugar level. If you have low free glucose in your system prior to partaking...you are in a world of hurt. Not only are you fighting the aldehyde resulting from the metabolism of booze (which causes that awful feeling), but low blood sugars will make you feel like death!
Late night pizza places profit off this simple biochemical phenomenon.

yeah that was just asking for trouble last night... :fp:

i am the same way, i normally just drink 6-20 beers depending on what i am doing. if at a bar closer to 6 or 7, all day concert or float trip, easily 20. i will normally supplement with some shots of something and i am all good, and no hangover or very very small one. add wine to the mix and i am gonna be fucked for sure.
