wondered why the fuck it took me so long to see my favorite band in concert. A fan from pretty much day one after the hit the radio/MTV, I dd not get to show until 1998. Nor join the fan club until I got a computer the following year
...ditched some friends cause a friend wanted to go up to Boulder(1993) and get some scalped tix...PJ-Mudhoney-Urge Overkill...was a kick ass show...found out 3 days later that they didn't play the 3rd show cause of issues with the security staff or something.
snuck out of the house with an older cousin to go see the Smashing Pumpkins and Red Hot Chili... I ended up liking the opening band better than both of them. I was grounded for forever when my parents found out, but I discovered my favorite band.

First discovered pearl jam in 1992, just as I turned 10 years old.
That and nirvana was my first "real music" after hearing it I went on to Metallica, nin, and so many other great bands.
I started bootleg trading and collecting in 98, at the age of 16.
By early 2000, I had almost every bootlegs and VHS that existed. I was in love with my favorite band and knew it was something special even back then.
Joined 10c in 1999.
My first show, 10-14-2000 Houston Texas.
I got 10c tickets to the show, picked them up and saw row "J" and thought ok, A-J equals J being row 10.
As I walked to my seats I got closer and closer. I then realized row A-D were actually "pit" rows.
So as I settled in to my 6th row seat, stones side, a little off to the side I was in heaven.
I was right in front of a Stack of speakers...
When they came out, they played long road. Long road has opened every stretch of shows i have done except one. This was the start of this.
When they started playing, my first thoughts were, wow! Ed is short!!
The second he sang "And I've wished for so long" I was moved forever. I couldn't hear the words, but FEEL the words throughout my entire body. Again I was right in front of the PA... But that line and that song, I was forever hooked.
The setlist for the first part of that show is epic also. If they came out and played it now, people would freak! I had no idea I was witnessing something as special as I was!

The Houston shows from that tour is always overlooked because of other better shows, but those shows were epic, and had a great crowd. Ill never forget that weekend! It changed my life permanently!
Someone would have to pour me a nice smooth drink to enjoy again because I was with a chic and her boyfriend and my eyes we're hurt by his horrible mouth. Im sorry so say I did not enjoy the show but I did get to see a girl was cute.
Every time I think about it I need to replace it with a smooth drink at a better show. :(
Okay, also: drove 3 hours both ways by myself, sat 7th row stage side from Guitar God McCready, got an Eddie pic, and pretty much had a religious experience that forever changed me. (Worcester 2.) There's nothing else like it. I will forever love this band.
(1993) Worked my way through the pit to the rail during Blind Melon. Stayed on rail for PJ(still the only time ive been up front for any show). Got heat stoke or beerstroke or something in between. Mercifully pulled over the rail during porch( almost lost my shorts ) Puked on security guys feet, removed from venue. Listened to Unlce Neil's set from outside the venue. Ahhh good times
Comments
...went with a guy who was wearing shoes and left barefoot.
...survived mosh pits beyond mosh pits and often got caught in waves and had no feet on the floor.
...saw Corduroy before Vitalogy was out.
...think Kurt Cobain was dead but no one knew yet.
Nice PF reference
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
2) Saw "Long Road" as my first PJ song live
3) Witnessed what I still maintain is the best N4U ever
4) Had to drive back to my buddy's house in Chester, VT after the show on the way back to UVM in Burlington, VT for college classes the next day
5) Knew I was hooked. 42 shows later I was right...
6) Got to see my one and only Jack Irons show
7) Saw "Who You Are"...A song I would not see again for another 12 years.
8) Was on the lawn
9) Got pepper sprayed peripherally because I was near where the pavillion crashers were getting nailed by the cops.
10) HAD A BLAST

Enjoyed a rainy night in the pit
Walked back home to Astoria on the Tri-borough Bridge.
Probably beat most people home that night from Randals Island
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!
