Why can't you see it as a bonus? They play a fucking awesome song as an intro followed with a "traditional" opener afterwards. What are you missing? Have fun guessing that "opener" they'll play after Pendulum. What's to complain about?

    I agree ..
Not really sure what that means.... I think it's one of the best and most creative songs on the album, but I am confident that I haven't overrated it....

I'd have much more of a "problem" with it had they not been playing traditional openers song 2. But also gotta remember there's always someone hearing the song live for the first time.

    Love the song, regardless!

  • Great song, great opener. I like it and it felt like a prelude to what was next. As far as I am concerned they can play it every show. Side note...I wonder if people complained when they opened nearly every show in the early days with 'Release'..."Not 'Release' again!. They open every show with that song...."

They had a 14 song catalog back then. Over 160 now, can't compare.

...and yes, wouldn't care if they played it every show moving forward.
Just not opening every show. I like the song.

It never ceases to amaze me. I have to admit, I'm not a member of any other fan clubs, music or otherwise, but I'm curious if there is another fan club out there that is on its collective period as much as this one. Don't you fucking idiots understand that there are still MILLIONS of people out there who would love to see just one PJ show, EVER, but may never get to due to geography or the fact that it costs quite a bit of money? My sister is 47 years old, and when I posted something on Facebook about going to my third show on this tour, she commented "Have fun, I've never been to a concert before." Not a PJ concert. She's never been to a large scale show of any kind. She has a family and not much money. So there are literally millions of people out there who would read a petty ass complaint like this and think "wow, what a spoiled bunch of pretentious little bitches." and they would be right. Count your lucky stars and quit your bitching.

Umm, chill dude... I cant afford any shows and im not seeing them at all this time but its still interesting to talk about..not everyone is bitching about it. Its just a surprise move, thats all. Pearl Jam is doing things differently, obviously. We're not all "fucking idiots" because we find it odd that they've changed their ways or that all the members in the band love to open with the same song 10+ shows in a row. Pendulum is my favorite tune on the album and I would love to see it as the opener...but im still surprised by it.

Am I they only one who thinks its odd they continue to open up with Pendulum. The opening song to me has always been a big deal. I was very disappointed when they played it twice in Brooklyn. I don't get it.

It's just you. I was not disappointed to hear it twice at Pitts/Buff. This song is in demand and worthwhile live. The arrangement of this song is killer - @ :37, 1:04, 1:50. Superb! ;)
Oh please let it rain today.

I agree, too. I don't get why people like it so much at all.
