The South Park episode "The F Word" hits the nail on the head when it comes to satirizing bikers.

How any rational adult could condemn the SUV driver in this situation is beyond me. Especially considering the fact that his wife and 2 year old were in the car.

Fuck the bikers. Just a shame more of their bones weren't broken. Don't fucking break check someone then getad when you get bumped. I would have ran the fuck over.

Hope they end up in jail

good to see an arrest already. and every one of those bikers in the video should be cited for reckless driving. apparently the story is they wanted to try and shut down the highway so they could have it for themselves. what a bunch of punks. the only thing I would have done differently than the guy in the SUV was not leave the highway.

This man was chased, intimidated, and beaten by a criminal, unruly, and degenerate group of thugs. These bikers were brave because of their numbers, they displayed a mob mentality, and then showed their intelligence by recording and posting the entire incident!

This is what pisses me off about the whole incident- the mob mentality leading to mindless brutality. Large groups of humans can be fun- any good Pearl Jam concert is proof of that. But too often in large groups people turn into jackals- vicious and incapable of thinking clearly or for themselves. I don't see any evidence of one single person in this batch of worthless pricks coming to the aid of this terrorized family. That time I was surrounded by a pack of Hells Angels on Highway 50 in the middle of nowhere Nevada cared the living holy shit out of me. I was shitting bricks and sweating bullets for what seemed like an eternity. I'll never trust bikers in a pack again. No way.

To echo what Godfather kind of said... this wasn't an organized gang making a run somewhere. This was a group of idiots with shit bikes and shit brains. The one fool got hit riding like a moron and the rest of the wanna be's got all tough chasing 'dad' and beating him up.

This same group of tools would be riding along, doing their wheelies, and thinking they were tough and cool until the Angels or Bandidos rode up alongside them. Then this group, with their popped collars and diet pepsis would pull over, look at their shoes, and wait until the 'real gang' passed before starting their comical act again.

    Losers. Grade A losers.

Bullshit the biker fucking hit his brakes right in front of the driver. Why even do that? These guys should have their motorcylce licence suspended and their bikes inpounded for the reckless driving they did.

About a month or so ago there was some ass hat weeving in and out of traffic just at twilight time, I told my wife that guy will not live for long riding like that. About 10 minutes later there was fresh motorcycle accident on the road. I have also encountered driving looking before I switch lanes, seeing it is all clear, then right when I am about to move some asshole goes flying by me. These addrenaline junkies are their own worst nightmare.

I ride my bike every day, i'm not Sunday rider who spends more time cleaning their bike than they do riding it like most "bikers", I don't even own a car. I can state categorically that what that rider was doing, slowing down in front of the vehicle like that was suicidally idiotic.

If that was the point at which he got knocked off then he absolutely had it coming to him, and there's not a great deal the SUV driver could have done about it, he was just going about his business when he was swarmed, and somebody basically ran their bike straight into him.

    Completely agree with you.

However the fender bender we see in the video isn't what started the confrontation. You can see immediately after the SUV bumps the white bike that the bike and rider and still upright and riding. No accident, no broken leg or anything. Furthermore (though it's hardly "clear"), it seems pretty evident that the group of riders is already following the SUV and fucking with him prior to the white bike brake-checking him and getting bumped.

Dont know the whole story but if the driver was legitimately threatened then he did the right thing. You protect your family at all costs. An entire family including teenage girls were beaten a few months ago in a large city for being in the wrong neighborhood. I was always told that if a big group is blocking your car and theres impending violence that you drive through them.

yes the guy on the bike blew it big time and his friends acted like idiots and the guy in the suv should have never been put in that position so yes the wanna b's are totally at fault, doing tricks on the road bring it's own consquences, all I was saying is that the suv driver could have remained calm and given the wanna b's the road...but that's the gamble the wanna b's take pulling stupid shit like that not knowing how a driver will react so you get sometimes what happened here and the actions of the wanna b's have forever changed lives, and yes the wanna b used his breaks but not to a complete stop .....still a stupid move that cost him his ability to walk again and possibley his life, it's just not worth it.

No the guy who smashed in the rear drivers side window with his fist.

Most likely. New reports are that he was not the guy intially hit, but was going back to check on his friend and was ran over when the driver panicked. That is a slam dunk civil case.

The great unknown is what took place before he decided to play Plinko with the bikers.
  • How come the guy didn't call the cops when they were chasing him?

I noticed later on that one biker was trying to punch out the backseat window where the infant was. He wouldnt live another minute if he tried that on my vehicle.

where were the cops? They said they received over 200 calls to 911 about the biker gang that morning.

that's a tough stretch on the west side highway. use to drive that every day when i was living in NYC/NJ... narrow lanes, long stretches with no shoulders and not many on/off ramps. so i imagine any cop cars that were in persuit were stuck in all that backed traffic caused by this escapade.

i think the key issue in all of this is how much danger was the driver in when the initial contact and incident happened ... i mean it's subjective ... are we now ok saying that a large group of bikers on the road is an absolute threat to one's safety? ... it's a slippery slope ...
  • MotoDCMotoDC Posts: 947
It's also unclear what led up to the brake-check incident and then initial blockade of the SUV that we see in the video. What motivated the brake-check? Was there something preceding the events in the video that would have already established a need for concern for the SUV family's safety? Who knows. You can't even tell in the video what's happening when the first blocked the SUV in (before the SUV ran everyone over). Are they threatening the SUV driver or hitting the SUV?

Again, you can see in the video that the biker who did the brake-check did NOT wreck his bike at that point. He was still upright in the next few frames of the vid. Subsequent news reports quote the paralyzed biker's wife as saying "he was just going to check on his friend" when the SUV was blocked in, but that doesn't make sense based on the video, since no bikes went down in the video (prior to the SUV running them over in a panic).
