    Can anyone recommend a nearby hotel to the venue, a good one... I will be spending one or two nights in Athens before I leave for a more relaxed 5-6 days on the beach somewhere else in Greece.

    a hotel in the centre of Athens, near to a metro station would be the better choice...

    I think this is where our cousin Betty stayed last year. The Hotel Tembi under economical http://www.cretetravel.com/Athens/Athens_hotels.htm . She said it was nice, cheap and according to the map it's in a good down town location (which I can vouch for, didn't see the rooms but was in the lobby, seemed nice). Close to Monastiraki Square/Metro and Plaka. Reviews say some rooms have excellent views of the Acropolis. Can't find a website specificlly for them but will keep looking. Maybe call and see if it suits your budget.

    P.S. Where have you decided to go after the concert?

    Hey desertman only 2 months to go!!! :D Any ideas for a meet up?

    My hubby and I will be in Athens @ Sept 3rd. - will stay a couple of days before heading to the islands then be back before the concert. If you set something up, please let me know before we leave Canada (Sept. 2) if you can because not sure how much internet I'll be accessing in Greece. If not, I guess I'll have to keep checking at internet cafes.

    Sorry we seem to all be relying on you, but you are THE DESERTMAN :cool: after all

    i was in greece in the beginning of the summer and it was amazing. i rememeber hoping when i was making hotel reservations that PJ would be playing there durng my two week stay. too bad school will stop me from going.

    I did some enquireries, hope to get a nice place to stay.
    I think it will be an unforgettable weekend in athens. PJ, late summer in athens (is beautiful), greek wine & food...
    Never been a concert to greece.

    I'm interested if the concert will be sold out. So far it's one of remaining gigs where tickets are available.

    I read 3 weeks ago in a newspaper that the have already sold 2000+ tickets, which in my opinion is fairly good considering the fact that we Greeks, usualy run for tix at the last minute... However, at the same day, Depeche Mode who are playing on Tuesday 1/8 the had sold 10000.
