Anyone out there in the same boat or a group that dont mind taking on a straggler?
Are you just coming for the concert or having a vacation while you're there? I'm pretty sure as the date gets closer, a pre-show meeting will be set up for the night before, then we can all meet and hang out.

I'm not sure yet, it depends on the prices, but I'm planning to stay somewhere in the center of Athens, close to the metro..like most of the people I know.
I'm coming with a group of friends, so It'll be great if we'll get to stay at the same place or tour the city together.

sadly... 15 minutes makes all the differense in the world to me! :(
I can't imagine fighting my way through thousands of Greeks to the stage... unless some nice gentelman is willing to save a spot for a nice girl who really wants to actually see the show?
    I'll be forever thankful...
  • I'm thinking of staying in Greece a week after the show but DO NOT want to stay at a typical tourist spot. What I'm looking for is a quiet little town with a few good resturants, a nice beach and as few as POSSIBLE tourists. Anyone know such a place in Greece? Please let me know :)

By the beginning of October tourism goes down in Greece. Especially in the Cyclades (places even close up for the season on some) so maybe you should try an island if you really want to get away from tourists. I'm obviously a fan of the cycladic islands, haven't been to Crete yet, but heard they get tourists much later into October cause its still very warm. I like Milos alot and Serifos was nice(but windy in June), lots fewer tourists, more Greeks on vacation. As for a place on the mainland, haven't got a clue. Hope that helps. I can think of some other islands, depends on how far away from Athens (Amorgos- beautiful but hard to get to) you want to get. Cheers.

It will make a massive difference i think... it pretty much guarantees ten club members will be right down the front... on that thought... do you think it will still be important to get there and line up early... even if you DO have a ten club wrist band??

Well I guess it depends how many 10c tickets were issued I guess.
If there's only a hundred of us, that should be fine, if there's 500, then yes, being there early will matter if you want the front.

We won't know until it starts.
That said, I have my doubts about the 15mn being inforced. By the time the security get their sh*t together, there might not be any advance, even for people in front of the 10c line, let alone at the back of it.
Had they say 30mn, I might have believed it, but 15mn is nothing, will be wipped out easily at the slightest glinch, I'd bet money on it.

Would be curious to know from people in the SA shows how it went (I believe the same system was used there).

They'll be using this system for the San Fransico shows, so believe me, we'll hear about it if it doesn't make a difference. 10c members will be up in arms, there seems to be ALOT going to those shows, probably more than we'll have in Athens. If we hear nothing then we can always ask (just to be on the safe side);)

How would I get to Poros from Athens? And, is there a cheap hotel near the Venue?

Ferries and high speed vessels from Piraeus port. The Metro takes you to the port within 25mins from the center of Athens.

There aren't many hotels near the venue and since it isn't far away from the center of Athens there is no need to stay nearby IMO. However, if you don't like the fuzz of the city center you can stay in suburbs like Marousi or Chalandri which are adjusted to the venue. There are few small and relatively cheap hotels there.

try http://www.gtp.gr has ferry itineraries(such as they are) and list hotels but usually not prices just class
also any good guidebook (i like Let's go and Island hoppers)for greece will give you info on hotels in athens so head to your local book store and read up & take notes. if the hotel has a website contact them.

Shouldn't be too hard. I believe you just hop on the Metro Line 1 (green) and take it up to Irini Station (going towards Kiffissia) and you're pretty much at the Olympic complex. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. It's a 20-25 minute ride from Omonoia station (downtown).
