  • A dysfunctional society.

Half the population 'gets it' and wishes to make the change effort necessary to not only try and curb the senseless violence, but repair their damaged soul. The other half holds a resistant mentality that is absolutely mind-numbing and... holds the progressive faction of their country hostage with their short-sighted stubbornness.

I have stayed out of these threads lately because we know exactly how this will spin out. It's not even frustrating anymore... its pathetic.

    It's hilarious.

Keep blaming an object. Don't focus on the issue.

A three year old out at 10:15pm on a weeknight. Yeah, it's the gun's fault.

but the indiscriminate hail of bullets???

the gun had just a little bit to do with that.

Of course, any parent should expect their child to be shot in the face if they have the nerve to take them out after bedtime.

    Go America!!!

The point is that our society has gone off the rails and that's the real issue here and not the guns.

There are a ton of people out there these days that have little to no regard for anyone but themselves and that's our biggest problem.

your biggest problem is that you have people who don't care about others and you glady give them GUNS.

In essence that still falls under the umbrella of what I said was our biggest problem.

Society has not gone off the rails, that's alarmist and untrue. It is a fact that the rate of violent crime in the US has been dropping year on year for the last 2 decades and shows no sign of abating.

Communication, on the other hand, has vastly improved over the same time period, meaning we all hear about all the awful things going on in the world much more often. That gives some people the impression that society is collapsing. It is simply not true though.

Completely untrue. Do you actually believe these animals acquire these firearms through legitimate transactions?

Not really, adding guns to the equation makes it worse. do you think that america is the only country where people don't care about others?

I think there's a much bigger issue here on why someone would do that over the means of how they did it.
  • great point, the world is getting smaller and smaller thanks to technology, and why do we hear about it so much? because that's what the people want, the same reason they rubberneck during traffic accidents. people want to see blood and gore, so that's what the media gives us. what's disturbing and sad to think about is all the repugnant shit going on that we don't hear about. although if I heard about every disturbing inhumane thing people did on this planet, I would have to quit looking at news all together.

who knows how they got the guns. i am guessing they didn't get the guns legally but I am not talking just about this story only.

not all shooting are done with illegally owed guns.

I'll bet most in Chicago are.
  • Virtually all of those illegal guns were at one time legal guns.

This is one of the drivers behind not making them so readily available.

    this

what i very much am concerned with is environmental catastrophe; you know, pollution: poor water & air quality as well as junk sprayed on our produce & what big farms put in livestock feed.

chicago idiot gangbangers have been shooting up the place now some 100 years or longer. 99.9999% of every one of us u.s. citizens will never ever be shot but will have cancer caused by what i mentioned above

edit... and don't forgot tobacco & alcohol abuse & other unhealthy habits & choices. skull & crossbones

Why should I care when the politicians of that shithole city don't?

God help us all if the Libertarians ever do win a national election.

A three year old was shot. We should all care.

sure they come to my state that has some of the least restrictive laws on the books. Guns, which have been painstakingly traced to violent crime across the country.

Why, there is a failed mall that somehow stays open. I think its because of the guns shows held there every three months.

IN FACT there was a COP arrested for selling guns of of his fucking trunk.

My view is from the governor of my state to every member of the state house and state senate needs charged for every single act of crime using a gun traced to my state as accesories BEFORE the fact.

just a question know1, is this what you mean when you say that people don't care about others?

using this logic unsung, why should anyone care about the debt ceiling when the politicians don't?

Until you know those politicians of that "shithole" city, maybe you should just keep it to yourself. I work with them everyday in Springfield and they are good people. To say that they don't care is absolutely careless and arrogant.

I stand by my statement. They are ignorant and crooked beyond belief. They have failed the people of this state and they have turned it into an embarrassment.

Poor parentage. There's no three year old that should be out in that filth crime ridden part of the city at that time of night.
