PUTIN GREETS OBAMA WITH SYRIA THREAT - President Obama arrived in Russia today to find the already failing relations with his host in even worse condition. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s threat to provide his Syrian allies with a missile shield in the event of U.S. air strikes further complicates Obama’s flagging effort to win international support for an attack on Damascus. As the Guardian reports, Putin’s warning that an attack without UN backing would provoke military aid from Russia may drive away the handful of international partners for Obama’s proposed attack.
(CNN) -- It's supposed to be a summit about the global economy, but the debate over possible military strikes for Syria's apparent use of chemical weapons is already overshadowing the G-20 conference this week.
The meeting in Russia will pit two leaders with polar opposite views on Syria -- U.S. President Barack Obama, who wants to launch limited military strikes against the Syrian regime, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose country stands by its longtime ally in the Middle East.
The views of the 18 other countries at the G-20 run the gamut -- but could be influenced by whatever happens in St. Petersburg.
welll obama got what he wanted and this will cement his "worst president ever" in our history.
it would be nice to see him get impeached.....it too bad he was voted in in the first place.
Godfather.
You can't be serious. The worst ever? I don't want to get off topic here but you have to let time dictate a presidency. I'm sure 8 years ago you would have found me saying that George W. was the worst President of all time. Looking back, he wasn't a great president by any stretch of the imagination, but is he worse than someone like Hoover or Harding? Probably not.

well let's say in my time, I'm 53. maybe "ever" is a bit beyond my limited experiance
I cant believe we are going down this path again. I feel bad for the innocent victims in Syria who have been caught in the cross fire, especially the children. But I don't think we should do anything. Don't you think its time America takes care of Americans. How can we lead the world, when the only thing the world sees in us is greed, corruption, war, etc...Individuals losing their jobs and their jobs being sent overseas. Countless of homes in neighborhoods sit empty and abandoned because Americans cant find a decent job. Don't get me wrong, I love my country and served her but what we have been doing since 9/11 is wrong. Its going to be 11 years since we have been in Afghanistan. Went to Iraq for no reason and now its seems we will be headed to Syria. We spent $2 trillion dollars in Iraq...wouldn't that money have been spent better here in education, jobs, infrastructure. And more importantly...the countless of families that will never see their son, brother, sister, mother, father...War has to be the most useless use of human energy.
this is the crux ... your logic makes sense but yet it's not the case ... so, then you have to ask yourself WHY? ... at some point sooner or later ... that myth that america is some beacon of freedom and democracy and the good guy in this world has to be shattered ... i know its hard ... it's like finding out your brother is a serial killer ... but people need to take a step back and see the whole picture ... it should be blatantly obvious now ... your gov't serves corporations ... that's it ... the decisions made historically in panama, guatemala, chile, vietnam, iraq and now syria are all based on economic interests ... it has never been about saving people ...
you could take the money that would be spent on air strikes in syria and build 5 hospitals and schools in africa and you would save 100 x the people ... the images of war are very real and very frightening but don't let it cloud your thoughts ...
I do believe we were a beacon of freedom...I think we have slowly started to have lost that. And you are correct, wars are based on economic interest. Panama-the Panama Canal, Guatemala and Chile, we didn't want the Communist close to us. And I am willing to support incursions in Guatemala and Chile because I know what Communism does first hand.
Once we bomb Syria, the TV is going to show dead children and will state that this is what the American bombing has done to Syrians. It will create even more hate towards us thus creating more terrorists. Its seems like a cycle that will never end.
