I thought the capacity of the Commons was only 60 000. But I did hear someone mention that somewhere in the Daily News today that there was some mention of that 100 K number. Not sure what that means. Maybe somewhere who has a copy of the DN can fill us in? Apparently, it was in the editorial section.

I have to add something to this...I got an email late last night from my connection and it said: "So far....Alice is opening for the Stones"

So....I immediately went into assumption mode and thought..because he knows me so well...that he meant the revamped Alice in Chains. But nooooooooooooooooo....Frickin Alice Cooper who was here like a month ago.

Man..talk about seeing heaven and hell in one breath.

Ok, so obviously no show for 2006, any thoughts on starting a Halifax 2007 thread?? We gotta get em to come back here. Personally I don't really give a rats ass about the Stones or any other bands coming to Hali, I just wanna see PJ here again!!

It sounds like Sloan have been announced (not rumoured) on TV/radio to be one of the other openers for the Stones. Saw them open for the Stones in January in Boston and kicked major ass. It's kind of funny because I've seen all three acts for this show within the last year. It doesn't matter much to me though because I love the Stones and Alice puts on a great show as well. Hopefully he is able to incorporate some of his theatrics into the show.

I think if they held the concert at a location called Citadel Hill...then it would qualify as a gorge/red rocks experience..although maybe not at that caliber. But...we are situated on the ocean...we like to party...and the grass is green and the girls are pretty..so to speak ;-)

It's a fun spot...5 universities of some level in town...an old harbor town feel with a metropolitan flair...an awesome waterfront to stroll upon..and seafood out your ying yang....and a large Irish/Scottish population to ensure that there are many irish/scottish pubs to enjoy the experience (If that's what you are looking for)

Since you are from Connecticut, I think you'd enjoy the scenery...personally. I've been to CONN many times and sometimes driving through there makes me think of driving through here....just that you have more 'stuff' in your environs.

Anyways..all that said...we just REALLY want PJ to come back..since...for most of us, we have to travel at least 12 hours in a car to make it to a show...and usually more. And well..we just want to see PJ

Ever since i moved here, I have seen a few..mainly because they often film in locations near where I work..but on the weekend, at the Farmer's Market...this cute little brunette strolled up and said hi to my son (who was in child carrier/backpack...lo and behold it was former blondie Alicia Silverstone. Now cmon...something like that wouldn't happen in NYC! ;-)

She didn't pay too much attention to me, mind you. But was very nice to my son!! hahah

You guys hit the nail on the head about what makes Halifax so great. I would seriously consider moving there from Moncton if it didn't mean moving an extra 2.5 hours away from Boston or Montreal. Those places are far enough away from Moncton but I gots to have me live shows. To tell you the truth as far as venues are concerned, I prefer going to Halifax for shows over Moncton any day if I have a choice.

I see a couple of the trailer park boys around. I also saw Harrison Ford back when I was with Nova Scotia film, but didn't get to talk to them.

The reason why halifax is so good is that the people are great. I haven't been to a place that parties as hard as halifax.

Also, the Halifax show was incredibly special. I know I've only been to 5 PJ shows but I've listened to dozens of boots from 2000-2006 and Hali is right up there. For whatever reason, the band seemed really taken aback by the reception of the crowd and for whatever reason, they gave us an amazing setlist and an amazing show. The band were in great spirits and it was really an atmosphere that I've never experienced before or since at any concert.

Totally agree, they seemed very flattered by the crowd, and were in a very good mood. There were some great Ed moments ("It says '8 pack'..."), and the setlist was something else. I was expecting kind of a greatest hits-type setlist, and ended up seeing Drifting pre-set, along with Hard to Imagine, Breath, Leatherman, You Are, Glorified G, Bushleaguer, In My Tree, Etc.

It was most definately a special night.

maybe they weren't expecting as many people to know the words to the songs? Ed seemed taken aback that we handled Betterman as well as we did. keep in mind we are a corner of the world they've never been to, it's a completely different culture from any other part of the country and they may have had expectations that it would be more rural, and perhaps less PJ-ified than we are.

it was my first PJ show after a LONG wait and i can't say that i would have wanted it any other way. it was a special night indeed. there was a lot of love in the metro centre being projected toward the band and they returned it thrice.

During the whole Halifax show, I looked back and around the arena...and people were hopping from the front of the stage, to the skyboxes. It was a great thing to see. And I will admit, going into the show, I wasn't sure how the crowd would react. We should be proud of ourselves, because I think we were one of the best crowds on tour.

The show I saw in Newfoundland was similar band wise, but a lot of the crowd was sitting down..and that deflated my experience a little bit. I would have thought the Newfoundlanders would have been a little crazier. (Or maybe it was a letdown because I had just met all the members of Pearl Jam before the show). Hhahahaha. Yes..I will throw that in any chance I get! ;-)
