Pie in the Sky. I found an old post by Ty saying a friend of his from Triple M said that PJ was the big tour announcement last week and it turned out to be Muse.

Yeh Ty might not know for sure.

I am sure we know the truth though.

No *tweet tweet*, no countdown, I'm not believing this at all. I'm sure we would hear about their tour of Aus/Nz here first, like every other tour they do. I'm not trusting a rumor from a commercial radio station, or that of a friend of a friend of my great aunt, twice removed, cousins, daughters friend...

Triple J released the tour dates before 10c in 2003.

Triple M released the tour dates before 10c in 2009.

I agree we should wait, but just sayin...

I am really worried if this is true, because the ability to play sideshows is very limited in most cities. I know Brisbane doesn't get too many sidehsows from teh BDO or SW bands and I would assume Adelaide and Perth would be the same. RATM only did sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney when they headlined BDO.
After the 2009 stadium tour, I was really hoping for another tour at Entertainment centres where they play a few nights. Give us all a chance to see a few shows, or at least get tix for 1 show.
If they do play BDO- I will still be there.

Here's hoping we find something out in 16 hours!!

Agree 100%

BDO really sucks. After the success of the 2009 Tour, I don't know why they'd go down this path, they really don't need to and it is a slap in the face of their real fans who currently fill stadiums on their headlining tours. The Big Day Out lost it's appeal years ago.

If it is true I hope there are side shows in EVERY city. Perth Arena (http://pertharena.com.au/) just opened and I was hoping to see the band there.

Yes, very true. The only reason to play festivals in my opinion is not as part of a tour, but a few shows, like they have done in the US. As you say, playing a festival in Oz as part of a tour is a slap in the face to the real fans.
We want to see full set lists with the chance to see them play multiple shows in one city. I loved the 2009 tour, but couldn't afford to travel to see more thean theshow in my home town. It's a great feeling knowing that you can see the band 2 or 3 nights in a week and looking forward to the setlist changes etc.
I know this sounds a little greedy, but when it has been 4 years since last visit, I don't want a 1.5 - 2 hour set at a festival ( I will go if there is nothing else on offer).

Totally agree with all of you 100%. Just can't see why they would play BDO, horrible festival and would much rather get a 2hr+ set than the 1-1.5hr set on offer at BDO. There are 10s of 1000s of us PJ fans in Oz that would be very disappointed with this, we'd probably still go but would miss the atmosphere, experience and camaraderie that you get from a PJ show. Praying this doesn't happen.

I expect pj in my loungeroom actually. and I want ed to serve me coronas between songs!

but seriosuly yeh I do expect to have first pick at tickets, as that's primarily what I've paid about $150 for since the last tour in membership fees. so I reckon I have a decent argument there.

and a full 2 hour set for $185. awesome. what I really wouldn't like is a full 2.5hr set for about $130.

Europe doesn't whine when they get festival shows because they invariably get sideshows, and then another tour 6 months later.

i'll enjoy the band, but it won't be at a cool festival. it will be at an average festival loaded with bands that i'm paying to see but have absolutely zero interest in.
Hard to argue with that. Well said. ;)
Yeah, that seems to be a pretty popular opinion.

I wonder what the mood of this thread is going to be like come Wednesday night?

The only way I'd want them playing the BDO is if they play a 10C only side show with priority for members in that city. Very selfish thought but this band have so many fans here in OZ they don't need this festival.

Last time they played Melbourne the show attracted 45k +.

Only a small percentage of these fans would even consider going to BDO let alone get tkts!
