it`s very expensive here but it doesn`t cost musch to sit in the park, drink and beer and have a doob :)..
i found some bars in bern to be most agreeable to the wallet, but of course you can always tell the expensive yuppie bars and stay well clear.
as far as how much cash you will need i have no idea, depends where you want to crash, boozing habits, smoking habits,,,etc etc..
but don`t freak,it`s not too bad.

That sounds great!!!How about airfares from the UK to Berne?I have seen a sort of package job --flight and hotel for about 180.00 pounds sterling which sounds pretty steep to me ,but maybe thats about how much I should be planning for --Ideas any one???Cheap flight and accomadation advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also any plans for a 10c member meet up ??? It would be great to meet some more dedicated fans!!!!
    The waiting drove me mad!!!

How about a 10c meet up? Don't know much much about the area, flights or accomodations, but figured we'd spend a couple days in Interlocken and surrounding areas before the show.

A 10C meet up would be a very nice idea... I don't like drinking by myself, I'm going to Switzerland by myself :(

How's everyone getting there? Is anyone else attending to the show in Paris before Bern?

Its a good job Im a fit 53 year old ----Bit worried about the knees though --they are a bit rough after several accidents!!!!the waiting and excitement is killing me!!!!!

So are you living in switzerland? how expensive is it? If I was to survive (survive, that is all... to barely survive would even do) for a week how much cash would i need?

i believe hotels would be above average. there is always mcdonald's for food or supermarkets to get sandwiches.

2 Yankees from the left coast of America (Oregon to be specific) will be there! 1st ever trip to Europe. We're flying to Munich, dipping down to Innsbruck, Austria then through Zurich to Bern for the show. Hoping to get into Italy for a show or two also but we don't have any tickets, only 10C GA tickets for Bern. I like the whole idea of camping in the alps but can't really figure out how to bring enough gear on the plane to actually camp with. I also like the idea of a meet up before the show. I have no idea where to go in Bern or anywhere else in Switzerland so if anyone has a suggestion of somewhere reasonably close to the venue, that would be great!

Ok, this show just got a little weirder for me...but I'm excited. I am going to be in Europe with family at the time & now that some of them found I was going to see Pearl Jam, my sister & my mom got tickets to the Bern show too! I've seen PJ with my sister before, but my mom?!? I'm really excited she wants to go. I just hope she likes it.

P-Town, I remember your name from that other post. Like I said, I don't know too much about Switzerland & would love any input too, but I have been to Austria & loved it - had an awesome time!

While in Innsbruck, if your into hiking or great views from the tops of the Alps, there's a great hike leaving from a little town called Hungerburg, on the outskirts of Innsbruck, that takes you up to a great lookout at Hafelekar. It'd be close to a full day hike or you can take the gondola (it's a ski resort in winter) if you're not up for hiking. That day hiking in Innsbruck was really one of the highlights of my life.

    just read this thread.....

some info's for you guys.... when possible and not more expensive fly to basel instead of geneva... it's more near to Berne (save train money :) and when you guys have some days time it's really worth hanging around Intelaken in the Bernese Oberland... it's a awesome scenery, when the weather is good!!

hotel's are quite expensive in Switzerland.. it's much cheaper when you go to a hostel or more so when you do camping!!

the concert is still not sold out.... mhhhh looks like pearl jam are not that big here.. anyway I will be there... the first of 5 concerts since fucking 6 YEARS!!!! Was quite surprised they chose the BernArena where i haven't been at a concert. That's quite a old Ice Hockey Stadium. They have been in Zuerich 1996/2000.. looking forward to it! Was hoping (dreaming) they will do quite a small open air Amphitheater in Avenches.... but now Radiohead is going there this year, it's an amazing place for concerts with a great atmosphere.. but yeah when i see the whole tour we can be lucky to have a concert at all!

Thanks for the info!I have been trying to find cheap flights into Berne itself from the UK,but they all seem pretty pricey,In fact I'm even debating to not go and wait --again for dates --sometime in the future for either the UK or Japan,as I shall be travelling from Japan its going to be an expensive trip anyway so Im now wondering if it might be better to wait --even though I have got my 10c tickets. However my brother is looking into flights and accomodation,so Im just hoping he can come up with somthing good that wont leave me broke!!!!
    The waiting drove me mad!!!

Berne has only a small airport and i think there aren't any discount airline flying in... EasyJet flying to Geneva and Basel... Ryan Air i'm not sure about Geneva and they would flight to Friedrichshafen, Germany near the border of Switzerland

It's quite a long way from Japan.... why you don't plan going to Australia instead.. more near and cheaper for sure???

Anyway... hope you find something suitable for you!!!

Thanks for your help--the thing with the UK trip is my family have been waiting for a PJ tour so that they can get to see me again!!Im originally from the UK! It gets pretty amazing when my parents who are in their late 70's --the first thing they ask when they telephone --When will Pearl Jam be touring europe or the UK !!!they both thought that the Astoria show should have been for 10club members only!!!!! and I have to agree with them on that!!!!!!
