I am willing to bet that there will be at least a few people who do not even spend a minute in the GA line but will still end up at the very front of GA because of "connections"
Spot on I reckon.
The list, the 'system', the line, the queue - none of these are the real problem. A minority of the people are the problem. End of. Doesn't matter what is or isn't in place. Some shady stuff will go down, people will cut in line and people who have sat in line for hours will get shafted.
All you can do as an individual is act respectfully and fairly and hope everyone else has the same moral make-up.
No one should be able to decide that they will see at least one PJ show at the rail, and make the sacrifices to do it.
I don't agree. I like the idea of the lottery system but if they aren't going to do a lottery, then the people who put in the effort and make the sacrifices should get the rail.
Based on my hazy memory of his past posts re: ticket lottery, I believe he's being facetious. Maybe not, though. Like I said, hazy.
Thank you, I was being facetoius.
I think much like 10C tickets, a spot on the rail should go to those who want to earn it. I don't understand why some are in love with the idea of a lottery somtimes (10C tickets) and hate it other times (venue entry). I can only guess that people have their selfish reasons, and that configuration works best for them. I just think that 10C should be consistent. (No lottery or lottery for tickets, entry, posters, etc.)

yup....and why is ok to sell a poster for 10 times what you paid, but selling a ticket for a penny more results in banishment... :corn:

Are you a 300-lb black man with a shaved head?
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"
And the point about the Chicago police is a great one. As a lot here will remember, the '03 tour allowed for a bettering of your assigned seats by showing up early. The tickets were placed in a block. So, seniority was honored, but if you were the first in line of your fan club block, you could get rewarded with better, closer seats. For the Vegas show at the MGM Grand, I came down at about 7 a.m. to wait out. There were only a couple of fans there. One fan said that security had made the earliest waiters run along. So this created a a major clusterfuck. From my arrival on, the security didn't care and allowed all to line up and wait. Well there was an Adolph Listler and "The list" that was going. These people said that they deserved their spots because they were there and tried to wait but were made to move along. These people returned at all sorts of different times after having spent their day shopping, eating and hanging at their hotels on the Strip. There was a big fight amongst the fans who were there putting in their time and the ones who cried foul due to the early ousting by security. This Adolph Listler got up and said, "OK everyone, we're now going to line up according to "The list" because a lot of us weren't allowed to wait," but they were there to touch the wall first (if you get my drift). Sure enough, even though I was like third having waited straight from the morning on, I ended up like 50th. I talked to Tim Bierman who was on hand and he felt that "The list" and its followers were in the wrong. So, this could very well play out again in Chicago if the police break up a waiting group. If they do, will they tell at what time in the a.m. it would be ok to resume the lining up again? The whole scene I saw play out in Vegas might play out again if indeed Chicago's finest step in.

the interesting thing....there are multiple gates...
will there be multiple lists...that need to be merged....or will the ga folks only be allowed to enter at one gate.

Personally, I would like to see the wall of death. That's when the crowd splits into two and then for whatever reason (usually because the singer said to) both sides run into each other.
Ok not for this band or this show, but it was kind of funny.

There might very well be multiple let-in entrances for GA. Anyone know if that was the case for Bruce there? God forbid one lets in before another. Oh the humanity....

I thought the list worked fine for the EU shows last year (with the exception of Berlin 2, or "the italian job"). People didn't go all Nazi about it, and the ones who wanted to be up front were there all day, with only short breaks to get food/water...many of those people were doing a lot of shows, so you got to know each other, and queuing became an actually nice part of the day, just sitting there chatting to a lot of other excited fans.
List or not, you'll usually know who was here before you and who wasn't. I'm hoping they'll have staggered entry like at the EU shows, so there won't be any stampedes going on.

But that's the point I was trying to make in the first post of this thread. "The list" allows for these "short breaks" for "food/water". Where is the cut-off on time away? So some people get there at 5:30 a.m. and wait almost 12 hours with one or two five-minute step-outs to go to the bathroom. But others have these "short breaks" up to an hour at a time away from the line 3-4 times throughout these same 12 hours. Why? Because they can, because "my name is on" "The list." Is that fair? Is that really waiting? Is it waiting in line when you're actually off enjoying a bar or restaurant? Or popping over to the pre-party on your "short break"? That's what I was referring to that happens when "The list" gets employed. It's a tool that allows for abuse of getting out of the uncomfortableness that is the true waiting out at a rock concert for the enjoyment of an up-front experience. The only truly fair line is one where if you leave it, you go to the end of it. It's just tough due to the fact that a lot are willing to put in a long day starting in the early a.m. hours. Ay, there's the rub.

That can happen with or without a list - one of a group can stay in line and 'keep spots' for their mates who are off for a few hours (or who were never even there in th first place). Pretty much every gig (non PJ) I've been to people keep on joining the queue in front of us because their friend/s are already there.
It's not because of a list or lack of it that people don't behave in a fair way. It's because in all walks of life, no matter what activity is happening, no matter what systems (or lack of) are in place, there are always those people who feel it is their right to ignore any sense of fairness or morality snd step on anyone/thing in their way if they can benefit from it some way, shape or form.
It's society - a crazy breed. Nothing's going to change it in the foreseeable future (especially not in time for Wrigley! ). So just accept that, regardless whether there is a list or not, someone's going to do something you don't see as 'fair' and will no doubt result in them being in front of you in the line - just concentrate on your own behaviour and enjoy the show!
Wow. Glad to not be in GA. This sounds way too stressful.
I was thinking the same thing... very happy with my seats on the field/lower bowl and not have to deal with nonsense like this.
The whole/line list thing is a perfect example of people taking something awesome (the concert) and sucking all the fun and spontaneity out of it.
They should hand out numbers to everyone in GA and then randomly select a number to be the starting point after all the numbers are given out. Then they can have everyone line up in order before they open the gates. Eliminates the need for people to camp out and removes the ability of people to shoehorn their way to the front of the line at the last minute.
