Does any one know of any good restaurants in Kitchener, preferably near the hotel and/or venue? That is- good restaurants that have at least one vegetarian dish.

My favourite restaurant is Del Dante's, but it's a bit on the fancy side and not within walking distance of the Walper Hotel. (It is right beside the Radisson Hotel and near the Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn though)

Check it out if you're still interested: http://www.charcoalsteakhouse.ca/deldente.html

I don't know much about the restaurants downtown near the Walper and the Aud but hopefully some of these links will help you out:

Kitchner is the first stop of my minni tour this sept. Can't wait to see you all there. Summer couldn't end sooner.

I KNOW! I've never wished summer away like this before. Thank God for the Gorge show so I have something a little sooner to keep me from going insane :)

See you all at the Walper.

Thanks. Good websites. El Dente sounds awesome. I wish it was close to the venue though cuz we won't have much time in Kitchener.

whoohoo, looks like I missed this thread. I booked the Walper a few weeks ago and can't believe how many rooms have been booked by the board. Great guys!! Lets have a decent party at the hotel bar after a wonderful concert. Can't wait to go.....

There was a question as to whether The Walper had a hotel bar. I called the hotel this morning and they do indeed have a pub. Don't know if it's located in the hotel or off to the side.

Regardless, we have a place for Pre-show and Post-show festivities.

Here is the last bit of good news for the Kitchener crowd: anticipating the rather large contingent of Pearl Jam fans who will be descending on the hotel for the night of September 11th, Janet has already started to make arrangements with the pub that's located on their premises. Those who are part of the 10Club will be given discount vouchers, in effect encouraging us to avoid disrupting other guests by keeping us drunk and happy and all together in the pub! I thought that was pretty cool.

This is one of Moloko's earlier emails regarding partying at the hotel in Kitchener. Note that we get 'DISCOUNT VOUCHERS' woo-hoo.

I just emailed Janet to find out more info about the pub - how these drink specials will work? is there a jukebox or cd player for playing music? etc.

Do they have any rooms still available for that night? I already booked my room but I'm hoping that we all sell the place out! It will be nice to put faces with all of the names on this board. My girlfriend and I are making the drive to Canada and we can't wait to meet all of the dedicated and faithful PJ fans that travel along with them! Only 40 more days!!!!!!!!

    Good afternoon Joe,

The Hotel is sold out for September 11th, 2005, thank you. The music is
through Digital Cable and we do have a CD player as well.
In regards with the 10% off in the Rum Runner Pub; this is on food only. It
is illegal to give discounts on alcoholic beverages here in Canada. I do
    apologize for the misunderstanding.
If there is anything else I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to
    contact me.

    Sincerely,

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they originally told me there would be drink specials, but I don't know if I'd be able to produce an email declaring that. They might have said something intentionally vague over the phone.

But that was only an added bonus anyway, and since they comp'd my room I feel silly griping over something so petty.

The good news is that they've got a CD player!

  • They are all booked for the 10th as well. I just called to book it, and they are full. So, I'll be across the street at the Delta Saturday, and in the Walper on Sunday. Serves me right for waiting so long to book the Saturday reservation. GRRRRRR. Good to hear that we will have access to the pub. Thanks for all of the legwork!

    Hey guys,

The good folks at the Walper hotel have been nice enough to allow us room at the Rum Runner Pub to do a fundraiser for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada.

We will have volunteers from the CCFC on-hand to take donations, sell "Got Guts" bracelets and supply information about Crohn's Disease.

This is the perfect opportunity to support, not only Mike, but a great cause in general.

We are working on a similar fundraiser at Rockwaters in London, but we're still waiting on permission from bar management.

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to see all of you in Canada.

Great! I waited too long too because I wasn't sure when we would be arriving. Do you have the phone number for the Delta?

Thanks. I think all we have to do is make sure everyone knows about it. The CCFC will have volunteers on hand.

    Thumbs Up.
