Yes, they'll add the rooms in blocks of 10. So once the first 10 go, they'll add another, etc. etc. Until they run out of rooms or until we hit the August 1st deadline.

    15-20 minutes walking.

The area around the hotel is supposedly very bumpin' at night, too.

moloko21,THANKS a million for doing yeoman leg work on this.Definitely will call in the a.m. FYI,for anyone trying to act on this ASAFP(like on the overnight tonight),I just called the hotel to try to reserve , spoke with a front desk employee named "Ben" , and was told to call back during normal hours...he said couldn't give me the rate which Ms. Jackman authorized, but she could Tuesday a.m.

Hey, I don't know who this "Ben" jackass is, but you shouldn't need to speak to Ms. Jackman in order to get the rate. She told me that the front desk clerks were informed on how to handle the group rate. Let me know if you have problems with other clerks and I'll send an email to Janet.

EDIT: It may just be that the skeleton crew don't have the authority or the means to process group sales, but I'm not sure why that would be.

That will depend on what the exchange rate is when you arrive at the hotel. There are lots of currency converters available on the internet to give you an idea, though.

    hi all...

I didn't see this until after I booked my room at the Walper, but I booked through travelocity and got the same rate, $105 Canadian (edit, sorry)...

I don't know if it's an online booking discount or what, but I thought I'd let you know...

great job, by the way, with all the great hotel research!

Once those 7 rooms fill up, another 10 will be disbursed for our use. Until the whole hotel is filled, or until the August 1st deadline.

I am a little pissed at the sales assistant for misquoting the rate, so I sent an email and maybe I'll be able to get her to bring down the rate. I could always bluff her into believing we'll go to a different hotel if she doesn't match the originally quoted rate.

yeah good idea considering the expedia rate is $20 less.. plus expedia is making more money there so that brings it down further for the hotel

i bet you could get her to take off another 15 or so

thanks for the work-- should be fun

I just got a room at the Walper for the Kitchener show on the ten club group rate. I appreciate your work and diligence. this should probably be my 50th show, give or take, so you may have seen me around.
  • moloko21moloko21 Posts: 114
Janet still hasn't responded, but that rate will probably stay fixed where it's at. I asked someone at another hotel, and they explained that sometimes you can get an individual rate for lower than a group rate, but that once a hotel reaches a certain capacity, the individual rates jump up, while the group rate stays the same.

Sorry if that was a really convoluted answer. The short of it: stay with us at the Walper!

  • Has anyone looked into flights from the Southeastern USA to Canada? I'll check it out myself but was wondering if anyone else had done so. I'm in Charlotte. I have 3 kids and the phone and internet are on the same line so I don't have much computer time until the week end. Thanks!

Some of you have said you were having trouble booking at the Walper at the group rate. I've emailed Janet to let her know her front desk clerks are incompetent.

If you can find a hotel rate for the Walper for cheaper, that's great. Just be sure to read their cancellation policies carefully, because it's quite different from booking with the hotel directly.

    Cheers!

We are booked at the Walper...
I just called them directly and had no issues.
Just fyi, they do not have room with two queen beds. She said this was a mistake they are looking to correct on their website. So if anyone else has 4 to a room like us it is going to be tight sleeping..

    see you all there!
Got some kicks want to take a ride?

    Good Morning Joe,

I do apologize on behalf of the staff and I have re-informed the Front Desk
Clerks of the group name and the date of arrival. You may let your clients
know that the Group Code is T1924 and to ask the clerk who is booking the
reservation to book it under that Group Code. However, it is okay if they
make the reservation through me. They may reach me at the number below or
by email. I have added another 10 rooms to the block for you, the first 10
    rooms have been picked up.
Thank you for letting me know about the complaints. I do appreciate any
feed back that you can give me.

    Sincerely,
