festivals has the saying at theway selling tickets,if give fan club tix,if sells one day or all 2-3 days at a festival..
its time to realise that pj is HUGE BAND..
    ALL want to see them!!!
    in all over the world..

and if 175 is your problem...you should live here..where 1500$ is only the cost of the flight to travel for see pj..

go buy a tix and see the bamd..we are talking about the best band in the planet..

forget the 10c tix, forget the price..

you are lucky to see this band..we dont know how this band will still playing shows..

BEST BAND ON THE FRIKKIN PLANET..

Everyone's individual circumstance is different. If this man cannot afford $160 that is his situation and not for us to judge or diminish.

As someone who regularly appears to be in the very privileged position of being able to afford $1500 for flight alone perhaps rather than tell a man with a family to support, whose circumstances we know little about, what he should spend his money on you could be helpful and buy him the ticket? I am sure this would be more useful to him than criticism, judgment and advice giving.

I would find it very difficult to accept being told to buy a ticket when I've expressed financial difficulties from someone who evidently has a lot more money than me.
the problem isnt the 175 for the OP...the problem is no 10c tix for him,,that would be close to stage and cheaper,he dont like spending $175to see PJ from the back of the lawn.
that what he wrote at his opening the thread comment..
and i point out that while his problem is to see pj at his town for 175 some of us,need 30 hours travel and spent 1500$ only for the flights...
your comment has nothing to do what what me or OP said..
no one told about family support, financial difficulties,
you twist mine and his comment, well,i dont know the reason, and i dont care actually..
as for me be helpful to others fans..well you arent new here..you know the answer...

For someone who doesn't care there seems to be a lot of hostility in your post.

For me it was very clear in the OP that this was a financial issue. So responded from that place.

As for you helping others I have absolutely no idea at all.

I for one am going to this.... Festivals are festivals, and shows are shows.

Yes festivals can be a lil pain... But the payoff is awesome IMO. You gotta suck it up and enjoy. Broaden your horizons people, take yourself out of your comfort zone every once in a while and you will have fun.

I understand op with not having a stand alone show near in a while... But if they play a festival or 2 within 15-20 shows who gives a shit. Why can't they do both?? I swear the sky is fallin talk when they announce a festival doesn't say much about this fan base.

I think its smart that PJ plays festivals. I just think they should change up which cities. Play a festival in Seattle or NJ or NY this time. If New Orleans is going to be a stop again play a real show. This will be the third straight PJ or EV festival booking there. The town is one of the top 2 or 3 cities when it comes to music. Austin too. Just switch it up.

Is it really 175 for a day ticket? I was planning on going for my birthday and was confused as to what day they were playing and where I could get a hotel close to the venue.Any suggestions??

There are no day tickets. You have to buy a 3 day pass. The price will go up as the event gets closer, so it is $175 today but will go to $200 and eventually $250 the day of the show. If you want to walk around the city just stay somewhere in the French Quarter (which won't be cheap). If you are coming just for the show, stay in Metairie or Kenner. It will be half price and the drive is 10-15 minutes.

Well, Knowing that I'll have to buy all three day's,Off to the Bridge School Benefit I go.Besides,It goes to a great cause,It's close to home and there's always a great line-up. (Almost Always) I have my choice of Days, which is normally Saturday, ans this way I can get a nice room close to the venue. Thanks for the Info.

There must be an inside joke in this post somewhere

if its intended to be as harsh as a a first reading suggests, then it was in very poor taste. If it is indeed this, then what a Shame.

I hope the OP finds a way to make it work, Festival appearances are frustrating initially as we'd all rather see PJ in an arena without the demands of having to produce a 'crowd pleasing set' to appeal to the festival audience and perhaps not the PJ contigent.

The having to pay full whack to see artists you wouldnt give a monkeys about is also understanding.

Personally Im in the bracket whereby if the band is in England or the Uk - im there. I wouldnt travel overseas for a festival, but anything on these isles I will be there at. I always figure its too infrequent to miss.

But i do get the guys point that having a family means these decisions are not always as straight forward as it has been suggested here. They will always come first, and $500 for a show is a hell of a lot of cash.

Ive seen PJ a few times at Festivals but always been able to get day tickets which makes it easier. The fact that the line ups were solid too made it a great day out. Gaslight anthemn, less than Jake, slayer, placebo to name a few great artists down the bills, although we did have to endure 50 minutes of the Hives, which quite honestly felt like 3 hrs.

On meeting Ed after the Belfast 2010 show - strangely a right time and right place moment, we asked for a song request at the Hard Rock show which was in 2 days In London, with great honestly he replied something along the lines 'Ah I'd love to, let me think about that, but That show is a big one, a festival type show, so it might be difficult'.

What was played the next show was largely a greatest hits show, which dont get me wrong, was absolutely tremendous, but a show that will never be up there with your favourites
  • After reading a few more comments, I can't help but think that the negativity in this thread stated from the OPS title. The OP backed off early in this thread but I don't think it stopped some harsh response.

I feel bad that the op does not have the coin to make it... You should have just said that!

However, I don't understand how a resident of that area could be upset at the band and/or Voodoo Fest. The economic impact to New Orleans has to be huge. I am personally dropping 2k for the weekend. I am justifying most of the spend to hang with friends and see great music. Supporting a great city is another reason I am going.

I heard the same bitching about festivals for Mia, Deluna, and midtown. It's so stupid! And btw, there is no better place and time for a non-traditional festival set... End of tour in the big easy!

Op, hang in there. I don't know what you are willing to spend, but I would not be shocked if someone were dumping a ticket on day 2 after a friend bails before ever arriving!

Looks like they did have tickets for $99. Not sure if that was limited or what. Anyway I think the general consensus is nobody really feels bad for you. To me its like winning a new car on The Price is Right and complaining about the color. I hope you can make it to the show.

I can feel for the guy. He loves PJ but everytime they come to his town it's only for a festival. Festivals can be a lot more expensive at times. (Although Jazz Fest and their one day passes are half the price of PJ Tickets)

But yeah you might have to travel to Houston or Florida or something to use your 10C privleges. New Orleans is maybe the most musical town in North America and the city seems to enjoy partying so I guess festivals give PJ both of those worlds with an easy pay day.

I agree-I hope we all get a chance to see them soon, and at an indoor arena. I know I am not big on the festivals myself. It would be wonderful to see them at a venue where we would have the chance for 10c tix too!
