Thumbs Down To PJ at Voodoo Fest
Living in New Orleans and being a long time Ten Club member is a love hate relationship. While I love that they are coming to town, this means another time that I do not get prefered tickets from the 10 club. How about offering some single day tickets for 10C members or an area up front? I love PJ but I am having a hard time spending $175to see PJ from the back of the lawn.

Valid comment when the band only plays your city/town/state proper every 10 years.0 -

Don't go.
I can't afford to go. It is a bit ironic as PJ didn't play shows in the 90's due to fan cost.
It would cost $320 for me to go. When I joined the fanclub I was a single high school student. 20 years later With a family I can't afford $320. If they played New Orleans Arena I could have spent $120 and had a great time. Maybe next time. Enjoy the show if you can make it.0 -
Not being able to attend a PJ show is always a dissapointment....unfortunately(for whatever reasons) ticket prices have doubled(at least!) in the last 10 years. I feel your frustration. I live in Colorado, where Pearl Jam has not played a show since '06!!! I'd be happy to see Denver on their schedule at some point, and would have to plan accordingly in order to save the dough for tickets.

New Orleans and Austin are FAR better musical cities than almost any where else in America. They deserve their own proper shows. Not festival appearances.
I understand that festival appearances pay better and that PJ have earned the right to get their easy pay days but those two places are as musical as it gets.0 -
Talk of deserving a show and complaining about a show in your hometown? What qualifies anyone and anywhere of deserving a show? Save some $, get in line early and see the greatest band in the world. God, I wish I had your problems when it comes to seeing this band.0

"Deserve" in regards to other locations that were going to already be on the tour map. I'm not talking about Appleton, WI here.
If New Orleans and Austin (if they play ACL) are going to be tour stops again they should get their own shows. Play a festival in NYC or Seattle this time.0 -

I don't think it is deserving, it is more of doing something for the fans. Pearl Jam should have some pull here. They should try to talk Voodoo into selling some single day tickets for the PJ show. At the current price of $175 per ticket, I would have to think it is one of the highest face value shows PJ has played. Also, there is a VIP area so even if you pay $175 and arrive early, you won't get close to the stage.
I will keep my fingers crossed for the ten club getting some single day tickets. If not, I will catch them next time. If you can afford the tickets, enjoy the show!0 -

Do you have any idea what my business, economy , or my small part of the world has endured in the past 4 years.
The Gulf Coast has been ,,, well if you paid attention. Maybe you would know what I'm talking about.
Louisiana is grateful for any type of income at this point.
Mr. New York...
We may not be as famous, but we are more crucial to the well being of the entire economy. If Texas fails. The USA economy is a stale, burnt piece of toast. No one likes/respects New Orleans except a few. I have a few family there. Still won't go. Every industry they have has been destroyed. But they are/will/ always rebuilding. My city gets the left overs that can't take it.
I don't even like NIN but they are playing. That is very rare. IF you don't dig it you don't dig it.
I like the line up. Louisiana needs this.
(OOPs, You are an artist and a band manager... So you have no concepts of reality . I'm sorry I should have read your profile first)

Everyone's individual circumstance is different. If this man cannot afford $160 that is his situation and not for us to judge or diminish.
As someone who regularly appears to be in the very privileged position of being able to afford $1500 for flight alone perhaps rather than tell a man with a family to support, whose circumstances we know little about, what he should spend his money on you could be helpful and buy him the ticket? I am sure this would be more useful to him than criticism, judgment and advice giving.
I would find it very difficult to accept being told to buy a ticket when I've expressed financial difficulties from someone who evidently has a lot more money than me.Given To Live -

I hate festival show's with a passion, as much as the next guy. But if it's the only PJ show in your state ...

Wow, I did not mean to spark such a debate over my personal income. I am gainfully employed and don’t have a tragedy story from any of the recent Gulf disasters (thanksfully). In fact the opposite, my family moved to New Orleans to help the people rebuild. It is a beautiful city and is probably the best decision my family has ever made to call NOLA home.
What I am is a diehard PJ fan that believes the festival route makes it hard on fans to attend (which was one point I was trying to get across). I can bet that there will be several others not go because of the price.
As a parent it is hard to justify spending $340 on tickets plus more on parking/food, etc. It would honestly be closer to $500 for a day out. I think most parents would have a hard time justifying prices like this. I know there is inflation but I spent less than the cost of attending Voodoo on my trip in 2003 to see both shows at MSG (including tickets, gas, hotel, poster, shirt, food).
I do believe Pearl Jam can have some pull at festivals. They can say “take care of our fans or we won’t play.” They did this countless times in the 90’s as they fought Ticketmaster. Let’s be honest, Voodoo Fest needs PJ more than PJ needs Voodoo Fest. They could say give us 1,000 tickets for our fan club at $99 (this was the original price if you purchased them in December before any bands were announced) or give us 1,000 one day tickets for $60 each (1 day tickets were available until this year). I still think this can happen and I am hopeful (another point of this original post).
In my younger days I had the chance to see the band more than a dozen times. I will cherish those memories and hope the tour does a normal show somewhere within driving distance. As I said earlier, if you get to go have fun and enjoy the show!0 -

Cmon leave the fella alone. Not everyone can still live with mom and dad to support their PJ habit.0 -
the problem isnt the 175 for the OP...the problem is no 10c tix for him,,that would be close to stage and cheaper,he dont like spending $175to see PJ from the back of the lawn.IamTom wrote:dimitrispearljam wrote:please ,dont throw the 175 $ out there, like is pj call..

that what he wrote at his opening the thread comment..
and i point out that while his problem is to see pj at his town for 175 some of us,need 30 hours travel and spent 1500$ only for the flights...
your comment has nothing to do what what me or OP said..
no one told about family support, financial difficulties,
you twist mine and his comment, well,i dont know the reason, and i dont care actually..
as for me be helpful to others fans..well you arent new here..you know the answer..."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
