jeff - hey, thanks again! yes, i actually gave it to gitta b/c she was closer and after the show she mentioned you tossed it up and you and i did briefly speak about it, and i thanked you then too, hahaha....but that post-show high makes everything such a blur. i do hope they got it, would be very sweet. either way i am sure to pop something in the post in any case.
Oh geez, really? I do not remember that at all. I dunno where I was at... I think I had a billion things going through my head after that gig- more so because it was our last one and there were so many people I had hoped to be able to say goodbye too. Anyway, I'm sure the boys got it and I'm glad it was a worthwhile trip for you. All the best to you and maybe see you at a future show.

Best Man Of The Hour ever! I can't stop listening to it. Really sad song.
obviously, for my own very personal/subjective reasons...it has become *my* absolute fave version as well. honestly though, the emotion in his voice, the little breaths.....oh my......gorgeous.
Hey D2D.... i'll always remeber that song at that time too, especially coupled with I Am Mine... just remember thinkin Fuck Yes, D2D got her song..cheers for the tasty bread and cheese after the gig too. Have you seen Wash_'s little phone video of verona. The big night. There's a bit when I'm pointing over at you, obviously out of my tiny little mind and shouting hay D2D anyway you tried to ignore me for a while but I persisted until I had your attention very funny... but a little scary too! videos should not be allowed at such occasions!

um, i have NO idea wtf you are talking about. i do not remember this, and yikes...i don't care much for still pictures to float about, i far prefer being the photographer....but argh, now you're saying video?! scary indeed! haha. although i will say, i have lots of great people pics...hahaha.....verona in particular, good times.
over and over....great, great times! i want to do it again, NOW.
i seriously have it in my head now, for whatever reason, i want to celebrate my birthday this november in london...i haven't been back there in over 15 years, it ain't happenin'..i have no idea where the desire comes from...but man, i enjoy indulging fantasies anyway.
haha. sometimes tho....if you dream it, it does happen. man of the hour in milan, case in point...and sure a bit of persistence and kind requests.
eh, some may call me a dreamer...but i'm not the only one.

Lol, I'd say there's a lot of footage of those couple of nights that nobody remembers . She was trying to ignore ya, eh? bitch
And D2D if you're going to London, make it halloween weekend when I'll be there don't go a couple of weeks later
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life

ha. i would never ignore burt...i am sure i was blissfully unaware......errr yea, under the influence.
eh, unless someone gives me a birthday present of a round-trip ticket, or i win the lottery...it ain't happening in any case. so sure, i can easily fantasize about it for halloween, or my birthday. but seeing as i am not a huge fan of halloween, and it's soon too...whereas my birthday is far more important and the end of november.....IF i actually got the $$$ together to fly from NY to london, i think you can scrape together the what, 50 quid? it may cost ya to fly back over to celebrate my birthday there. haha.
and then yea...all happy celebrations, for the woman of the hour.
damn tho, i am curious and yet scared to even think/imagine/see any video  footage of any of those nights!

Under the influence weren't we all??? Even looking at the pictures I took in the second pub the next day, it didn't seem familiar at all . It took a few hours to come back to me . Well it sounds like I picked the right show to go to, meet up wise anyway.
Hmm... 50quid??? Well my flight for halloween is 90 and only cos I booked it over a month before but I reckon I could manage to swim over maybe

ha ha D2D you were blissfully unaware for about 2 seconds then I cranked up the volume and got your attention, you cracked up but I can't hear what I was ranting on about. Wash_ is emma one of the english girls..
That certainly was the heaviest night of the tour for me.... i walked into the bar the next day and the barman started to laugh at me. I also remember that each time I went to the bar during the night I seemed to be getting more money back.... hmmmm... that could be a figment.!

Lol, yep you must have imagined that... unless you were GIVING more money, hence the GETTING more money back
Yep, the barmaid was laughing at me too - cos I was only drinking the half litres until after the concert, then I went in and asked for a litre and she's like

i'd love, i think?, to see that. nutthin' like watching a bunch of drunken idjits making fools of themselves.
and, okey dokey...emma...is she the blonde who was drinking her beer with roses in it? if so, gotcha. i don't know why, i could never keep her name in my head even tho i did speak to her a few times. ahhhh, the evils of alcohol.
btw - i think that was the 'heaviest' night for ALL of us. seriously, the next day, gathering together early in the day before the show...before the pre-show party......who knew we would have a pre-pre-show party friday night? ........we were all rather slow/quiet/rough. hahaha. totally feckin' worth it tho.
see it rained to help push all that alcohol out of our systems. yea, it needed to be done, flushed thru the skin...b/c we all overimbibed THAT much. haha. good times, good times.
the whole tour...amazing.
and sure, to not completely obliterate the true love of the thread........yea.......man of the hour....the pinnacle.
edit - for helen: 50 or 90 quid...was simply illustrating the VAST difference in the price of you flying to london from ireland, and me doing so from NY. so yea, even at 90, doing so 2x....still no where near what my fare would be. eh well. :(

hmmm...seems about long overdue to post the lyrics we all know and adore here:
Man of the Hour
Tidal waves don't beg forgiveness
Crashed, then on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in May.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.
Nature as its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.
And the sky breaks at dawn shedding light upon this town
They'll all come around
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.
And the road
The old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just goodbye for now
I first heard this song in Santa Barbara 2003. I loved it right away. Ii's amazing how Eddie just wrote it when he was asked to write a song for the movie.

first time i heard it was when the 10c released the single. oh my, it made me cry. i then cried when i heard it over the end credits for big fish....and man, the beneroya hall version, first live performance...listening to that recording i am pretty sure the tears streamed too.
i DO know for a fact the first time i heard it love, boston 2004....with a great friend from here, BIG hug...and yea, tears. so even more fitting the 2nd time hearing it live...with a different pj friend, whom ironically i met in boston 2004......big hug...and yes......the most tears ever, for all the reasons of this thread.
completely emotionally beautiful song for me. unreal.
it DOES so beautifully fit with the themes of the film, so appropriate...and thus why so gorgeously sad.
hey all....PLEASE listen to the mialn boot, and then get back to me and/or post here.
a fellow boardie pointed out to me that she *heard* the mention of 'dream' in some momblings by ed right before pj played "man of the hour" in milan. now, at the show i was right up front and heard nothing of the sort...i have listened to the boot numerous times and still have heard nothing of the sort...but absolutely, i'd LOVE to get opinions on just WHAT does ed say/mumble about right before pj starts up with "man of the hour"...?
at the time, and even after listening to the boot..i was always of the opinion that ed says something along the lines of " this one we're tryin' "...or" just want to try it ".......unsure. although now with this new seed planted in my brain...could it be "this one for dream"...? i never thought so, but after the PM suggesting such, i'd love other opinions.
so yea, break out those headphones and really LISTEN...and let me know. grazie mille!

no idea what he says there: 'this one ???'
I can't understand what Ed says, let alone sings half the time anyway, but doesn't sound like he says 'for...'.
Though I'm pretty certain it's not a coincidence they played it here

haha...i KNOW!
after getting the PM, i listened and listened to the song/intro..with headphones...and still, basically indecipherable to me. ha!
i really don't think it was a *coincidence* either, and don't need anything else to make my joy complete. the fact that it WAS played, in and of itself, is all i desired...and i am happy.
i only ask b/c someone mentioned this thought to me, so yea...i was/am simply curious if anyone else *hears* anything of the sort...or if anyone can just figure out wtf he is saying at that point, whatever it is. as i said, even when there, i didn't quite make it all out...so who knows?
anyway, i can't believe it; today is EXACTLY one month since the milan show! one month! i cannot believe that much time has already passed! wow. what amazingly beautiful/fun/crazy times and memories......:D
This song was all I was hoping for out of the 5 shows I went to, and I finally got it on my last show, thanks so much!
I also have a recording of it (from front row) on my digi cam. Such an awesome song

Hey... who are you? We went to a bunch of the same shows and I'm wondering if we met or not.
Yeah I was at all the shows you went to except Paris. I was there with my wife. In Verona I met Wash and Audiodave the night before the show at that gathering at the restaurant/cafe place.
Aaaah, we were staying in the same hotel but our flight got in a little too late and we were knackered after waiting 5 hours in stanstead. We didn't get there til about 10pm and were too tired to go out.
What's ur name?
And is it possible that I heard drunken stories of u?
I heard there are many drunken stories from that night!

I'm Jeff and I don't know what stories there could have been.. there was some silly stuff with breadsticks and apparently a speech of some sort but I was pretty pissed. I was front row for both Lisbon shows and was near the front at the Astoria. There were just so many people I met on the tour who I have no names for at all, so I'm trying to slowly piece it together before the next tour rolls around. It's pretty embarassing really.
Don't worry about it, I'm kinda the same!
I was front row for Lisbon I but was along the centre barrier about 1/3 of the way back the second night. In Paris I was about the same and Verona, I was stood on the steps at the very back lol. Managed to get front row again in Milan though, that was such an amazing night.
Anyways, 2am and I'm off to bed

I'm Jeff and I don't know what stories there could have been.. there was some silly stuff with breadsticks and apparently a speech of some sort but I was pretty pissed. I was front row for both Lisbon shows and was near the front at the Astoria. There were just so many people I met on the tour who I have no names for at all, so I'm trying to slowly piece it together before the next tour rolls around. It's pretty embarassing really.
