The only thing bad about the Class III weapons (automatic weapons, tanks, rocket launchers, suppressors, etc...) is that they are registered with the Feds.

Yes, you can own them if you wish.

so registering your gun doesn't stop you from owning a gun. just want to make sure i read that right.

cause some here have stated that registering your gun will lead to the government taking them

Hmmm ... I might be going with the Soviet howitzer no matter what ... a M777 shell cost $140,000 each

Only the Class III weapons are resigtered with the Feds. These are your tanks, rocket launchers, automatic guns. There are not many of these around and they were all from the pre-ban era of 1986 and before I believe. Regular weapons that you can walk into any gunshop or walmart and buy like your semi-autos, shotguns are not registered.

you what you say is true as i read that also. My point is that so many people here believe that if the government goal is to take away guns that is why they want people to register them but the truth is that register all guns doesn't mean that the government is going to take guns away.
  • No, but it is one step closer for the government to be able to take them away some day. They will chip away one law at a time if allowed before you are no longer able to buy any new guns. First semi-auto rifles, then handguns and so on...where would it stop?

NO THEY WON'T take your guns away... please stop pushing that paranoid lie. :nono:

if they wanted to really control guns, they would make it illegal to make or produce them in the united states. they would not "take away your rights" by messing with the 2nd amendment.

they banned machine guns over 20 years ago and have never banned anything since then. at what point do we say that this fear is irrational.

as you wrote earlier, if you want a tank you can buy one.

I never said they would take them away. I said it would be one step closer for them to be able to. No doubt about that at all.

The government has taken away American citizen's weapons before. During Hurricane Katrina, when citizens were being evacuated from their homes, the police took firearms away from people. So yes, i do believe it can happen.

That was a fucking gigantic hurricane what did you expect the police to do and so you equate that with the gov coming and taking your guns , get a grip ..

  • It was a giant hurricane and american citizen's right were violated by their own government in a time where they needed those weapons the most. They were violated so bad a year later a law was put into effect called the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act basically stating that during a state of emergency, cititzen's rights cannot be violated.

They needed the weapons the most for what who were they fighting against ? their city was under 10feet of water the police were saving lives again what do you expect the cops to do in a situation like that ....

They needed them to protect themselves from the thugs who were running wild through out the area doing whatever the wanted whenever they wanted. Even in the Superdome their were rapes and violent crime. And people were being forced out of their homes which were completely dry and not in danger of flooding. It just wasn't people in the flood zones.

I will meet your ridiculousness with a ridiculous answer, if it doesn't harm anyone who wasn't intent on doing harm themselves, what would it matter to you if they owned one?

The constitution doesn't give you the right. Human beings already had it. Not to suck the fun out of this thread as I have enjoyed it thoroughly, but there are limits on the 2nd amendment as there are limits on all rights.

and even if it were legal to do so, I don't think you would ever find a company willing to sell you one, I do however think that if you are a machinist you could build yourself one or just get the specs and a huge 3D printer Jason! Think outside the box, you're better than that!

I will never understand the fighting of thorough background checks but then again, I don't understand a lot of what motivates people in many political arguments.

and their is ALWAYS room for applesauce.

The federal action followed the recent introduction of a bill in the California state senate by Democrat Leland Yee that would ban 3D-printed guns, as well as a bill introduced last year by U.S. Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) that would further restrict the weapons.
