Sometimes I think there is two sides to truth.
it has been proven time and again that fox news lies. they doctor quotes, news, video footage and overstate things. see the link i posted.

But... but, I agree with what they say! That makes it true, right?

their mission statement must be something like "i am going to continue to state opinions as news and sooner or later people are going to like the opinions more than the facts :fp:

you can sugar coat opinions. most facts can not be sugarcoated when it comes to news.

People's truths are different and very much based on opinions.
Much of what I see on Fox News is just that opinions.

do you honestly think anyone in the tea party is going to criticize fox news? they sponsored and plugged the tea party rallies.. of course the gop is not going to criticize the network that gives them their marching orders. how badly did fox blow the election coverage? they were telling everyone in the weeks leading up to election night that romney was going to win in a landslide and it made their own voters stay at home. fox news contributors and their audience live in a bubble. look at karl rove making an ass of himself election night.

it must be pretty convenient to blame the "liberal media" because clearly reality has a liberal bias..

is it called "fox news" or "fox opinions"?

and by definition, TRUTH and OPINION are mutually exclusive.

truth is based on fact. opinions may or may not be.

    very true

The shows I've caught are pretty much opinions on the news. That is always how I have taken
what I've watched. So I guess I wouldn't call it so much lying as stretching the truth
and fitting it nicely into opinion.
The channel seems to speak to many Americans who agree with the opinions.
I have noticed they enjoy pointing out the blunders of the Democrats
but then I see the same from the Democrats. And then if one is left leaning one would
believe all that. I really don't see a lot of difference but I will definitely check out your link.

I hope no one believes they're getting 'news' when watching tv...flipping between fox and cnn sure as hell doesn't give you both 'sides' If you're hearing sides, you can probably rest assured that they're not talking about the real issues. They report a snapshot of a situation. Then they argue about their angles for hours, with hand picked 'experts' giving (or omitting) context for their 'sides', as they see fit.
Unless of course there is live footage of americans or american allied people suffering a disaster somewhere. Then that daze-inducing cacophony is interrupted for a contest to find the most jaw-dropping, gut-wrenching footage. Its such complete crap. All of it, and it's getting worse.

Yes the sides reds vs blues it smacks you upside the head, so obvious. And yes opinions about
what's in the news. A lot like here. But when you know that's what it is it's entertaining.
I enjoy listening to what others think even if I don't agree. Like Fox news.

I do enjoy hearing what they think.. I would enjoy it more if that is what they talked about. But it is frustrating, leading me to change the channel when they frame their opinions or support their opinions on a foundation of deliberately faulty logic. If they have to do that, then it seems to follow that they do not really believe what they are saying, but they just want you to believe it.

yea for me, I change the channel as well if the right goes too far right ;)
that's usually the way I look at it.
I happened to catch the first 10 minutes or so of O'Reilly last night
and I guess he has been getting very excited as of late.
A fellow on was brave enough to mention he enjoyed his passion
and his opinion but not when he uses name calling etc. That would be how I feel about it too.
I don't have to agree to like somebody. I might just like their passion
but it must be respectful passion. I stop listening when others start hurting.

    Faux News.

    haha

edit: hmm. I guess I didn't make that up
  • I didn't realize Canada censored news stations.

Canada doesn't censor news stations but they DO insist that if you're going to present yourself as "news" that you are, in fact, reporting news and not intentionally lying to further your own political agenda.

They also say that you can't say "Fuck" and call yourselves a "family show for the kids."

It's called "standards in broadcasting" and while Americans for some reason fight for their right to be mislead and lied to, Canadians value honesty in their news.

    Fancy that.

"15 of 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis, and DHS is allowing Saudi Arabia to ID...

    "TRUSTED TRAVELERS"

Fox News still proudly parades its belief that if you identify a few bad guys, their entire country is guilty. That is except of course our country and the other mostly white countries.

initially of course they extended this guilt to Iraq.
