    Greetings,

For you lucky ones who are awaiting the PJ shows in your town I can say you are in for a treat. I saw them both nights in Toronto, Canada and thought the second night (May 10) was one of the best shows I have ever seen (See Setlist on the website).
Our local papers claimed that this might be PJ's last world tour and more importantly there last Toronto appearance. I can't argue either way but I would like to think that the new energy the guys have harvested makes me believe that they will be around for a while yet.

    Enjoy the shows!!!

    Cheers,

    One happy fan!!

Tig you MUST ask what level of training the dogs have had before even considering this breed..... everyone loves Huskies but no one realise just how much work they are. If you go to the dog shelters, they are full of Huskies and Malamutes (sp?). These are dogs that need firstly a pack, and secondly strict routine.
that means, you walk through doorways first. you are first to enter the car. you pick up their food after 20 minutes of putting it down..... they NEED a leader of a pack.
also, when you are out walking you need to be able to control what their heads are doing. this would mean using a Gentle Leader which acts in the same way that a horse halter does.... they are an extremely unpredictable breed particularly if you dont know their history.

can i suggest before getting into this, you go to http://www.petnet.com.au/selectadog.html first and do the online quiz.... this will give you a list of breeds that are entirely suited to you.... and (just as importantly) you are suited to them. do your research first.... you have to remember that this is about a 10 year commitment and there is a hell of alot to consider when choosing the husky breed... they DO NOT take to any change in routine very well

sorry to go on a bit here, but this is something that i have quite alot of experience in and ive seen stuff you wouldnt believe. please PM me if you have any questions regarding breeds and their pros/cons, and about anything animalish in general.
sorry again if this is a bit full on but i just want to make sure that you know exactly what your getting yourself into with this breed before you get them....

    peace

Good advice!! I don't know much about Huskies personally but I've heard stories and also used to post on a dog website http://www.terrificpets.com (to learn stuff when I got my two dogs) and Huskies seem like a terribly challenging breed. Tig, talk to Megan (about any breeds) -- she seems to know what she's talking about! :D

Been wondering where you were 2nite Megan? Do you think we'll be able to pre-order our 10c tix in the morn; Perth tix don't go on sale til a week after the Eastern states shows, so do you think this'll affect the 10c tix?
I know I'll be safe to just get on at 7am in the morning and check, was just wondering what u think?

hehe yeah i had to work tonight til 8.30 :o
im really suprised that 10c havent said anything about perth... maybe because the show is still subject to council approval? joel and i are getting up at 7 anyways cos we have to buy our tickets to melbourne and adelaide.... if perth is there to then great! if i were you, id set the alarm to check if there are perth tickets available... if not then you can go back to bed :)
looks like ill be up at 6.30 tomorrow morning :( have to be down in freo early once we've got the tickets sorted out.

if nothing is everything i would have it all

Not sure if this is already posted - tix are already available through those preferred ticketing websites relating to Visa, American Express, and any other website that is involved with tix being onsale before the general public.

Im sure we would all rather wait til tomorrow though to buy our tenclub tix, which Im sure will be better seats than the ones allocated to the above. So anyone reading this, dont get excited and just go purchase tix, the tenclub would be the better way I imagine??

How exciting, cant wait til tomorrow - should be getting to bed so I can get up early!

Just thought Id keep you informed!

  • thats a good question with the perth tix, guess we'll find out tomorrow morning.. argh i cant decide what shows to see - ill definitely go to both brissie shows, but i also wanna see another, like maybe adelaide or perth or melbourne. im swaying towards perth cause they got the last show, and could be last show of the world tour

So can anyone give me the final answer whether 10c will be offering tickets to additional shows! this is serious business!!

This is where I think a possible Newcastle show could take place.
Fly from Perth to Sydney, then up to Newie, play a show, back down the road to Sydney and then off to Hawaii
  • ooo thats stretching it a bit. i dont think newie will get a show but if they did, wouldnt it be a night before or following one of the sydney shows??

    Oskar is a great name!

generally this is a really good breed... the main few things you have to worry about with them though is their fierce dominence over other dogs. its important to socialise him with other dogs as much as possible, but as with a Husky, Oskar will really bennifit the use of a Gentle Leader.... for dominant dogs they really are a must. They are way more effective than a choker chain (which i NEVER recommend) and besides helping to control pulling on the lead, you have complete control over his head. this means that if he does turn to have ago at another dog, you have complete control of him.

the other thing that you have to be extremely mindful of is his weight. once you have stopped feeding him on puppy food (at 18-24months) you really need to be able to control his weight with a good excersise routine and good food. Oska is going to be a HUGE dog, and you need to be aware that this has some major effects on his joints and digestive system. He should be on a Large-Breed Premium food or even better (the best infact) the Royal Canin Giant Range. this will ensure an even growth rate so that he is getting a good amount of calcium and not too much energy. this will mean that he will have stronger bones for the rest of his life. the other thing is that Large and Giant breed dogs have a shorter intestinal tract than other smaller breeds of dog... this means that he has a very sensitive digestive system as food has less time in the gut to be absorbed and processed properly.
a good buscit like Royal Canin caters for this problem... the buscits are also very big to ensure that they actually chew the food before swallowing (as they tend to inhale their food). This also cleans Oskars teeth in the process.

the other way that you can help Oskar's digestion is by raising his food and water bowls so that he doesnt have put his head right down. you might notice that as he gets older and bigger, he might start to lie down while he eats.... he's not being lazy, it just means that he can process his food alot better. You can get bowls that are raised from good pet stores.

Although it is alot more expensive than supermarket food, it is really extremely important that you feed Oskar a premium food. The main difference between the two foods is that Premium food doesnt contain "fillers". "Fillers" are cereals and water and flavouring.
Premium Foods contain all the vitamins and minerals that everydog needs. it provides all the calcium and kelp that supermarkets dont. premium foods also use either a meat meal, or dehydrated meat as their number one ingredients which means that they are getting real meat and protiens. Because premium foods are so highly concentrated, you dont need to feed your dog much at all.... the portions are all done according to weight ratio, and because they are able to absorb everything that is in the food, stools are ALOT smaller and alot less smelly. Because supermarket food has no nutritional value to it whatsoever, it means that the dog tends to be defficiant of alot of vitamins and minerals.... meaning more trips to the vet.
Yes premium foods are more expensive up front, but you dont have to feed NEARLY as much in one meal and long term it is much more bennificial health wise, and could contribute to an extended life of Oskar :)

he might develop breathing problems over time due to the shape of his face but theres nothing really that you can do about that.

i think ive just about covered it.... any more questions?

if nothing is everything i would have it all
