The poor bugger actually really likes their music and being 'older' fans, I can remember the first time Alive was played on JJJ.....I was hooked from that moment. It's just a case of my obsession has kind of put him off. Last tour was the first time he didn't come to a show with me.....I think he was actually relived when the tour was announced and I said (something to the affect of) " I hope you don't mind, but I'd rather go with someone else this time". He did admit though, when the concert started, he could hear it from the hotel where he was looking after the kids and started regretting not going.Oz Jammer wrote:He's kinda being forced into it now, otherwise he'll be overwhelmed by all of us
It's like with my ex back in 02. I bought myself and her tix to PJ, burnt all my PJ CD's, geve them to her and said "Listen!"
Needless to say, she did, and she had a great time at the show because she knew the songs. I must've done a great job because when Down got played, she was one the most excited people in the Sydney Entertainment Centre. That song wasn't that well known back then, and was only available on the I Am Mine single0 -
«¤tîg®ê§§¤» wrote:So i threw in Nevermind today.... thought id have a listen to it as I havent in a very long time.
Was always a PJ fan.... liked Nirvana too, but nearly as much as PJ of course.
I remember I had a Bestie who wrote I Love Kurt over everything and I had I Love Ed over everything!! We were about 13 at the time.... and we continued to do that all through high school
anyhow.... Nevermind was such a good album for Nirvana. As I was listening to it today, I realised just how talented Nirvana were and how much influence they could have had on future generations if Kurt hadn't blown his head off. In a different way than they have influenced music, by Kurt being in the grave.
I know we have all thought about it. Where do you think Nirvana would be right now if Kurt was still alive?
It's hard to say, but I don't think they could've adapted musically, the way that PJ have over the years. I think eventually Nirvana would've broken up anyway, because I think Dave Grohl would've eventually wanted to do his own thing. IMO Dave is/was more talented than Kurt anyway. I also think Kurt would've eventually gone solo. Actually I think he had plans to do some stuff with Michael Stipe before he blew his brains out
Makes you wonder how Kurt's songwriting abilities would've been without the drugs anyway. Would he have been so successful clean? I guess we'll never know
Such a waste.0 -
I had a friend phone me this morning, from over there....she lives in Labrador and she was saying how beautiful the weather is over there now. I told her that we're planning on heading over there end on Nov and she said it will be perfect timing.....just before it gets too humid. Can't wait....I'm absolutely freezing here!!!«¤tîg®ê§§¤» wrote:sweet

totally agree with you about Dave. He is simply amazing!! Who else can sing "Best of You" without chokingOz Jammer wrote:It's hard to say, but I don't think they could've adapted musically, the way that PJ have over the years. I like him alot.
Interesting about Kurt going Solo though. Didnt know that. I dont know if he could have been successful as a solo artist... but then again, so many fans, it would have flown out the doors. With Stipe is weird too... I just couldnt see it.
I guess one example of how a singer can perform off drugs would be Anthony Kiedis. I didnt go to any of their gigs.... but of the new songs I know, its just nothing like the old RHCP.... his songwriting is no where near what is used to be. and just crappy as far as im concerned... Gimme Old skool Chilli's any time.he who forgets will be destined to remember0 -

Yeah Glenn keeps complaining about the humidity up on Christmas Island. UNBEARABLE...and to make it worse the job he's up there to do is asbestos removal, so they have to wear full body overalls and masks and shit....minimum of 12 hour days, 7 days a week....He's absolutely knackered.«¤tîg®ê§§¤» wrote:the humidity really kills you.
