maybe...if i can find a ticket for a decent price....
I hope you do---
For the past few years, these super limited US tour dates are driving everyone crazy...
(I know I'm now going to hear someone from "The South" or the Philippines tell me to keep quiet)
:ugeek:
Not real impressed with the way 10C decided to go about this, i haven't been in the 10C for 15 years for last years holiday single....Personally, I'm a paying member to jump line for tickets...I have had great luck every time, even when they were hacked i still scored Toronto tix for both shows.....
Time will tell, 10 years from now when they go back to F5, the UNoffical lottery thread will be 20 pages deep...
Toronto '03, Boston '04, Halifax '05, Boston 1&2 '06, Mansfield 1&2 '08, Boston '10, Toronto 1&2 '11, Brooklyn 1&2 13, Sao Paulo '15, Brasilia '15, Belo Horizonte '15, Rio '15, Quebec '16, Fenway '1&2 16', Seattle 1 & 2 18', Quebec ‘22
Please bring back F5. The whole Alpine Valley was not the norm, at least in my experience of buying tickets. They put too many shows onsale at once.
With F5-ing I made my own luck. Now memberships are just a lottery ticket. I buy a chance to enter a lottery. I know we get this and that and people enjoy whatever, but many people have a membership only for the tickets.
I have a better idea - price the tickets according to market, and all of this can be a fond memory. I didn't have any issue getting tix to EC's Guitar Fest (which has long since sold out) b/c folks couldn't mindlessly enter a lottery that was basically giving away tickets.
Here's another funny - The WhoCares benefit sold out from the back to the front b/c the front tickets are a grand and the back tickets are $125. What is wrong with that occurence? Nothing!!! I didn't go for the grand tickets. But, if they were $125 in the front, you bet your sweet bippy (always wanted to use that), I would have been in limbo praying for ANY tickets. AND I don't begrudge whoever is going to give $1,000 to that great charity (or even if it wasn't charity and was The Who getting the proceeds) to get those great seats.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Needing a ride to Forest Hills and a ounce of weed. Please inquire within. Thanks. Or not. Posts: 58,276
F5 Sale Days were like an exciting Game 7 - You knew you were in for a fight, the stress level was high, you needed a good strategy and maybe even some help from your friends and teammates. But at the end of it all you felt like you won the Championship (and sure, in some cases you sadly came in as a runner up - that's life).
I'm going to miss that thrill of victory - I felt like I always earned the tickets (and honestly, rarely got totally shut out when I put the effort in)
Oh well - here's hoping for the same in the new system - whenever we finally get the chance to go play with it again that is.

mind = blown. Exactly how I felt about it.
I couldn't agree more. Yea it was intense and stressful (especially PJ20 and NYC) and yea it felt like total blue balls when you got to checkout step 3 and it crashed. But at least you had some control (at least more than an lottery) or so it felt.
I'm one for one with this new system but I'm sure the next tour won't go over like it would have with the F5 (well, command + R for me on a mac). I would gladly spend a day in front of the computer refreshing rather than hoping my name gets pulled in the lottery.

This is right on the money. The stress level, the thrill of victory!
The F5 method totally fell apart. They contracted it out to TM. We all got unique codes and were able to buy on TM right away. All the tickets's said GA, and the 10c allocated them by seniority later on.
It was still first come first serve, but on a system designed to handle the load.
I'm not sure how I feel about the current lottery. I had bought tickets on previous lotteries (groundwork 2001, seattle 2002, and gorge 05) and won lottery tickets every time. It seems to me demand has only gotten higher (from a lack of available shows)
I'd rather have my shot a FCFS (first come first serve). I never lost out that way either, but I liked to have a bit of control....
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter all that much. If they get 1000 pairs per show, that's still 1000 10c members (and their guests) going to each show. The allocation method just changes who the exact members are. Some are better at f5, some at the lottery. The part of me that says I make my own luck, prefers the F5 method.

Ticket master all the way! I like paying for services that work.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
The F5 way, people would just quit. This new way there are so many more people going to be trying for tix. Wait till the Boston, Hartford, NY, Philly run. It's going to be even more crazy. Just now we won't be at our computers for so long!
