What other chance is there for world peace? The only way I can think of is if the Arab people are exposed to western civilization.

Personally, I'd prefer for all peoples to be better exposed to the beliefs and teachings of indigenous populations, such as the original inhabitants of Australia and the America's.

(Not quite sure where all the hostility towards Arabs has been coming from lately on this message board. But then I suppose there are people who will always need an enemy, even if it means inventing one).

And one more thing, the West's overabundance of material wealth simply wouldn't exist if it weren't for it's exploitation of the 'Third World', through a well-documented process of economic imperialism, the backing of Western-friendly dictators, and outright aggression.
yes The U.S. learned very well from The British Empire on exploitation of indigenous peoples.

I didn't "invent" 9/11 or the countless attacks by Arabs. I am not hostile to all the Arab people just the ones who want us dead.

My point is that Arab people are brainwashed by the radical powerful Arabs who follow the Quran (when it says kill all infidels) and that the people who would want peace just like you and me could not be brainwashed if they saw how good we have it. Do you agree?

I think that the majority of Arab people are oppressed by a tyrannical government who imposes Sharia law on them. And they have no idea what else is out there. If they did they would choose peace.

    So here is my idea:

Obama should approach the problem with the Mid-East differently. There is so much money spent on bombs, drones, guns, soldiers, act. 100's of billions of dollars, right?

Well, what if we took a small portion of that money and instead bought millions of iPads? Then loaded them up with music, movies, tv shows. Then drop them on the Arab people. Then ask Americans to volunteer to do facetime with them.

Think about that. If they saw how great we have it they would revolt against their oppressors! We wouldn't have to war with them...We Would Have PEACE!

No offence, but you know absolutely nothing about Arabs or the Middle East.

And your patronizing, back-slapping opinions on an entire people and area of the World, about which you know absolutely zilch, simply reeks of your need to either get yourself a passport, or a need to pick up some books and educate yourself.

I read bro. Books, magazines, newspapers...

I speak with people from the Mid-East. My former boss is Egyptian and we keep in touch. I worked with a guy from Israel. I had a class with a prof who was a former Lebanese captain in the military and had more than a few long discussions in small groups with him and his friends and colleagues. I taught a class on the nuclear arms race in the Mid-East and I have a history degree.

I do know and I understand. The best source is the people who live there. If you think the prevailing winds blowing toward Sharia law is no big deal...ask an Arab.

You've ignored most of the posts that challenge you to learn something new.
But here you go......substantiate this claim:

And by the way, the U.S supported Sadaam Hussein throughout the 1980's.

Just as we supported Assad lately! You cant begin to think what people's actions are going to be in the future! We try to help those in need.
huh? The US officially backs the Syrian "opposition".
Your country delisted Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists organizations in order to ally with and fund them in Syria, to fight AGAINST Assad (LIFG). btw - In the past couple years, you've done the same in Iran (MEK) and Pakistan (Baluchs)....apparently the circle of: support for bin laden in the 70's/80's ~~ 9/11 ~~war in Afghanistan, taught your hawks nothing......or maybe it's the template? perpetual war is good for them.
I love giving you guys fodder! LOL
ok....kat recently told us that it's not ok to call someone a troll....but if trolling is by definition, posting inflammatory bullshit to get a rise from people, then you just flat-out admitted to it.
You think it's funny to spread an ignorant attitude toward your foreign policy, an attitude that allows death and oppression on a massive scale?
You are not the only poster doing this. I'm sure you have a good laugh when you get someone like me to spend time writing a long-winded reply to a post you wrote intentionally to piss people off....Maybe you exchange pm's with the other trolls and have a little giggle....
But you know what? Even if a lot of people here can recognize this charade for what it is - using extremist rhetoric to tilt the spectrum to your side, like the propagandists in your government and media do so effectively.....there will be others who don't. Some of them will find positive reinforcement for very dangerous attitudes. It's a fucked up game you're playing.
Or....maybe I'm giving you way too much credit.

The Egyptian Constitution was written with Sharia law in it.

Sharia law is scary. It's brutal and uncivilized. If for no other reason; women have zero rights under it.

I don't do "rants" I'm just typing out my opinion. Don't attack me because you disagree with me and open your mind to new ideas.

I am less concerned with Sharia in the US. I am concerned that under Sharia a nation will acquire a nuke then use it.

Hillary said when asked what the US would do if a nuke went off in Israel "we would obliterate them"...OBLITERATE them! That's coming from Hillary fuckin Clinton! Doesn't that scare you?

Just that fact that the question was asked AND answered is scary.

oh you mean the Egyptian consitution drafted by the muslim brotherhood?

U.S. Move to Give Egypt $450 Million in Aid Meets Resistance

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/29/world ... .html?_r=0
The assistance outlined in letters to Congress on Friday would be contingent on Egypt’s setting in motion economic and budgetary changes that the International Monetary Fund is now negotiating as part of a $4.8 billion loan.
    .....
In addition to the $1 billion in assistance, the administration is working with Egypt to provide $375 million in financing and loan guarantees for American financiers who invest in Egypt and a $60 million investment fund for Egyptian businesses. All of that comes on top of $1.3 billion in military aid that the United States provides Egypt each year.
    .....

I haven't figured out if that 1.3 billion in military aid includes the $213 million worth of jets and tanks the US decided last week to send to Egypt....nor what the IMF's "bugetary changes" constitute.....but I guaran-fucking-tee the changes benefit western business interests and do NOT benefit the people of Egypt.

Fair enough. Using the word rant was inappropriate.

I'm not really sure what the context of the interview was, nor what exactly it is you're asking me whether I'm afraid of....but generally, no.....a wind-bag politician beating war drums does not scare me. I can think for myself about the risk/reward of nuclear war. I really don't believe that there is more than a handful of people in the world who are extreme enough in their views to think that nuclear war is the answer to anything.....the odds of those people getting their hands on a bomb are not great enough for me to lose any sleep, or more importantly, base or support any policy on it.

edit: I guess if we call the use of depleted uranium in bombs 'nuclear war', then we can say that nuclear war is an answer to nuclear waste disposal! So maybe it's more than a handful of people.....The US was able to dispose of over 1000 tons of nuclear waste in Iraq. You can't say I don't see the positives.....

They're def the puppet masters...and we don't even get to see who is pulling the strings.
In the end, it's THEM who benefit most from the essentially ungrounded fear of Iran getting nukes.
