I agree they should all be available. I am fortunate enough to own all the studio albums but still wish they were available for everyone else. I have friends that just want to spin Yield but will never pay $75+ for it. I also agree with others who said most just wanna spin records. I don't give a shit how much mine are "worth." I just love listening to music on vinyl and it slightly saddens me that i'll probably never here Live on 2 Legs or Benny on wax.
If they re-issue the vinyl, all I ask is that they don't sell it for less than 13 bucks each, because that's what I paid for each studio album through Riot Act. I'll be pissed if they sell them for 12 dollars!

I did buy them when they were released. Maybe not everyone had that opportunity at the time. It would make a lot of people who love listening to music on vinyl happy to re-release the rest of the records. I don't cherish mine more because they're OOP. Was born in '87, didn't really have a job until riot act came out so piss off. It's pretty simple to do another pressing. I don't want a fancy box set or some new mix, just want a superior form of audio that isn't $75. We shouldn't have to pay more for a 45 min record than a 2.5 hour show.
When they re-released the first three albums... they re-released them in many different formats...
INCLUDING stadard vinyl that generally goes from $20-$30 each.

They sell all three in a bundle for around $40.00.
That said.... an update on what's going on with the other albums being re-released would be GREAT!

I just bought the Kings of Leon Early Years Box Set of their first 3 albums plus a rarety slab. That's 7 slabs for $55 on Cyber Monday... Regular price I think $100 maybe. Either way... I'd pay that price for all that music and $100 for Tom Petty's Live Anthology which is 7 LP's.
I love No Code and Yield as much as the next guy here, but it's just not worth it when I put it in perspective. Something like Benny I get because it's a one-off. But studio albums.. No reason not to the issue them. I just picked up Incubus albums that sell for $100-200 before the reissue for $22 a pop. Exactly how it should be.
Sometimes this band does frustrate me but hey, it's ok.

Yeah I would just save the $1,300+ and listen to the CDs personally but to each his own. I think the vinyl will get re-released eventually, it probably isn't Pearl Jam's call on that, it's probably up to Sony.

Great question, OP! To my way of thinking- or I should say, listening- wanting vinyl has nothing to do with trendiness or being a "collector", it's about sound. I hear big differences between analog and digital sound. In fact, I can only listen to digital music for limited amounts of time before my ears fatigue. (It's true!) Because of the extreme expense of some of the used vinyl out there (for example, I did a recent search for "Riot Act" and the least expensive I could find right now is $177.00), I can honestly say I've never really heard three of my favorite albums they way they were meant to be heard: "Riot Act", "No Code" and "Pearl Jam". I'm lucky to have bought "Yield" when it came out and the vinyl is definitely superior to the CD.
Please, who ever has power over this sort of thing, release the Pearl Jam catalog on vinyl!!

In my opinion, if they re-release any vinyls, it should be with a slightly different album cover. This way the people who have the originals will be happy and the people that want to hear it on vinyl will be happy.
Kind of like the remaster of Ten has a different color than the original.
I bought the original GnR Live Like a Suicide when I was a kid for $5 and sold it years later for $500. Am I bad for doing this nah?
I bought it again years later (but it was a fake). I had a different back cover. Did I care? Nope. I still get to hear it on vinyl.
So far, the reissues are very different from the originals. As you mention, Ten is a different colour, and also comes with the remastered version. Vs has a similar cover, but still very noticeably different - the photo of the sheep is a different angle. And Vitalogy is different in that the reissue is actually way nicer. The jacket is textured and of nicer quality than the original, and it's a 2-disc version (which I hate, and so never play it). I would imagine that any upcoming reissues would also be different than first pressings.

Dont hate me, but a friend came over a year or so ago and gave me a copy of Riot Act on vinyl. He said he had it for awhile and just wasnt a fan. Gave it to me free! Then it got lost in my mix of records. :oops: I mostly forgot about it because it seems like I never listen to anything newer than the 80's, so I am just programmed to forget I have new stuff on vinyl. I know what I'm doing tonight now though!

the first 3 re-issues of Ten, Vs., and Vitalogy are a great start, as long as they offered just single LP's for a normal rate while at the same time offering the super duper deluxe box sets for $150... but the fact is those first 3 records were the most pressed of their releases because at the time of their release in the early 90's vinyl was still a viable product and way to sell music, and PJ was the biggest band in the world and was breaking sales records... so they were always available and affordable... as the cd/digital/mp3 age grew, vinyl faded in the late 90's and early 00's, as did PJ's standing as the biggest band in the world, and they pressed less and less for each record... every release at the time did, not just Pearl Jam... that is why you could always find a ton of the first 3 records in the secondary market and in record stores for $20-$30, because there were TONS of them pressed ... this is also why Backspacer is readily available in LP form, because vinyl is back to being a viable and popular way of listening to and selling music (it is back mostly due to backlash from the digital mp3 shit age of music delivery, but that’s another discussion)... so the real issue now lies with the less pressed releases from the "vinyl is dead" era, No Code through Avocado, which are going for insane, and frankly laughable, prices in the secondary market... supply and demand right? The simple solution is to increase supply...
now most artists, especially from the same era as PJ, seeing the comeback of vinyl as a viable product, have re-issued their entire catalogs on vinyl for fans to buy and enjoy... ben harper, incubus, metallica, etc, etc... so my question is does PJ plan on doing some big reissue for every anniversary of an album? meanwhile letting their fan base get gouged in the secondary market, or just not being able to listen to the best band in the world on vinyl? that just seems like milking the cow to me, and isn’t what I would expect from a band that professes to LOVE vinyl so much... so I would hope that the best band in the world... the band that brought you "spin the black circle", the band that touted the virtues of vinyl throughout their career, would actually make their catalog available to their fans on vinyl for normal and affordable prices, sooner rather than later...

Totally agree. PJ should just reissue everything ASAP. The ONLY thing they are getting out of not is annoyed fans who are getting ripped off because of their uncontrollable love for the band's music. Not very cool at all. I don't see their motivation in holding them back. All it can do is make them some money and make fans happy.

now most artists, especially from the same era as PJ, seeing the comeback of vinyl as a viable product, have re-issued their entire catalogs on vinyl for fans to buy and enjoy... ben harper, incubus, metallica, etc, etc... so my question is does PJ plan on doing some big reissue for every anniversary of an album? meanwhile letting their fan base get gouged in the secondary market, or just not being able to listen to the best band in the world on vinyl? that just seems like milking the cow to me, and isn’t what I would expect from a band that professes to LOVE vinyl so much... so I would hope that the best band in the world... the band that brought you "spin the black circle", the band that touted the virtues of vinyl throughout their career, would actually make their catalog available to their fans on vinyl for normal and affordable prices, sooner rather than later...
and for those that say, “you missed the boat, TOO BAD” (how silly and childish is that, seriously?), I also believe this would be a great move for the younger fan base, which frankly has brought vinyl back from the dead, by allowing them to purchase LP’s that were released before they were fans, or maybe even before they were born in some cases… or what’s wrong with being an older fan and now being an established adult and wanting to return to the glory years of yesterday by spinning some great LP’s on the turntable? I guess some in a very small minority would say “fuck em, they should have bought the Binaural LP when they were 10, I got mine and it worth such and such”… but I personally disagree with that short sighted, and frankly ignorant thought process… I say if people want vinyl… let them have it… it’s a record, not a fucking Picasso… nobody is saying reissue special releases like the xmas singles or a limited release like Benny Hall… we are talking about normal studio releases for god’s sake… call me crazy but I don’t want my favorite band, the best band in the world, to be the last to the party on the reissued catalog train
