    There are definitely some kooks and crackpots down here. I dont know why or how to explain it. But at least it keeps things interesting.

    One of my favorite authors is Carl Hiassen. He actually works for a newspaper and I think i've read that he gets a lot of his ideas for his wacky novels just form the news in florida.

    Personally, I try to stay out of the news. its not that hard, but there's still time. :mrgreen:

    When ever i visit my parents and some point they watch the news, It's 10 minutes of the weather and 50 minutes of banks getting robbed and shot out's with the cops. That heat get's to ya all.

    Ok, not sure howyou'dlook this up, but when I
    was 13, I went on a family vacation to Florida.
    While staying a this badass KOA on one of the keys,
    We were all awoken by some nut job running through
    the campgrounds, the police hot on his tail. He was
    naked as the day he was born, and had this crazy huge
    fish in his hands. Later, we found out, someone had
    called the police after seeing man sexually assaulting
    Said fish!!!! That was in oh... 85, 86??? Still haunts me!

    Who is you people?....Floridians are kool people its the visitors/snowbirds are the problem especially the driving. Otherwise all is well down here in S Florida and I had a great time with my new board body surfing off
    Lake Worth beach. What did you do for an outdoor activity?

    That was sad what happened to that dude, it happened not too from where I am....that may make the show a 1000 Ways To Die.

    Grant you I did not grow up originally in Florida, Boston is my hometown. Anyway, very true some wacky stories do come out of Florida.....it maybe due to the heat or the free, easy no problem spirit down here. :D

    CANTONMENT, Fla. — Authorities say a man has died after a dog jumped into a vehicle, pushed the accelerator and struck him as he opened a gate outside a Florida Panhandle home.

    The Florida Highway Patrol says 56-year-old Iris Fortner and 68-year-old James Campbell were returning to their home in Cantonment on Monday when Campbell got out of the passenger side of the vehicle to open the metal gates.

    The Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/W6cGSn ) reports Fortner opened the driver's door to see where Campbell was standing. That's when Fortner's large boxer bull dog jumped into the car and pressed the accelerator.

    FHP says Fortner tried to stop before the vehicle backed into Campbell. He was trapped under the van and pronounced dead by Escambia County paramedics.

    Fortner has not been charged.
