Awesome! Congrats. The Stone Pony show looks like a great setlist. I'm not sure how I missed that tour. Too bad the estate isn't offering digital downloads of these shows.

There are a few new Lanegan appearances coming out soon.

A new Not Waving album was released last Friday. Mark is featured (mostly just loops of "Do I seem dark to you?" and Mark laughing) on the song "I Found You"

    https://notwavingmusic.bandcamp.com/track/i-found-you

There's also the 4th volume in the Jeffery Lee Pierce Sessions Project coming in September. Mark sings "Go Tell The Mountain", backed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis

Also, The Twilight Singers' complete recordings are being released as a vinyl box set in October.

It's expensive as hell though - 400GBP for 13 records (5 double albums, an EP and a collection of rarities)

The release notes below say the book incudes "essays from Mark Lanegan..." and others.

    www.olirecords.com/shop/the-twilight-singers/boxset/

Black Out The Windows/Ladies and Gentlemen, The Twilight Singers.

The Definitive Twilight Singers Box Set To Be Released As A Limited Edition 13 Piece Vinyl Box Set This October Featuring All Newly Remastered Studio Albums With A Bonus LP Of Rare/Previously Unreleased Material.

This October, One Little Independent Records will release the definitive Twilight Singers box set: Black Out The Windows/Ladies and Gentlemen, The Twilight Singers as a deluxe limited edition thirteen piece vinyl box set with reimagined album covers spanning all of The Twilight Singers studio recordings.

The seven releases (six double albums and one EP) are presented on 180g crystal clear vinyl with pictorial etchings on the D-side. With a clean and monochromatic design, the box set features reimagined stark white embossed album sleeves of every original Twilight Singers release.

Personally curated by bandleader Greg Dulli, the box set contains newly remastered versions of all of the Twilight Singers studio albums along with an EP: Twilight As Played By The Twilight Singers, Blackberry Belle, She Loves You, Powder Burns, A Stitch In Time (EP) and Dynamite Steps. A bonus album titled Etcetera features eleven tracks of previously unreleased and rare material.

A 56-page book accompanies the set which includes the original album covers and essays from Mark Lanegan, Duff McKagan, Steve Kilbey (The Church), Scott Ford (Twilight Singers bass player), David Katznelson (producer) Marisa Buxbaum (long time fan) and Keith Hagan (manager). The book also includes rare and previously unseen photos by Danny Clinch, Sam Holden, Andy Willsher, Chris Cuffaro and many others spanning the entire history of the group.

Delighted to see this thread bumped today. Listening to some Mark and remembering seeing him live a couple of times. One of the best to ever do it.
"...though my problems are meaningless....that don't make them go away...."
  • from reading Sing Backwards, I was shocked to learn that he had little to no creative input in the Trees. With everything that he put out after, I couldn't believe it.

This amazing cover surfaced on a Lanegan forum. I can't believe it stayed hidden for so long

    Parasite by Nick Drake
Vocals: Mark Lanegan and Dana Kletter
    Piano: Dana Kletter
    Guitar: Mike Johnson
    Produced by Joe Boyd

    A note from Dana Kletter:

"Lanegan and I recorded Parasite at the Magic Shop in NYC, in 1996 (I think) for a Nick Drake tribute record to be produced by Joe Boyd, who’d produced Nick’s first three records (and three of mine.)

Sadly, the whole project collapsed. Time and money, I guess. It was never finished, so never released and our song got lost in there somewhere. I didn’t think I’d ever hear it again but when Mark died, Joe located the tapes and sent me a copy he’d mixed on the fly, for which I am profoundly grateful."

These were posted on a Lanegan FB fan page today. It’s kinda amusing that Lanegan is so close to Burt Reynolds

Old blues song. Mark covered it at least once. Dylan, too.

Mark also sings the line “see that my grave is kept clean” repeatedly in Rising High Water, the last track on the Black Phoebe EP that he recorded with Shelley

Holy shit! Can’t wait for this!

We are thrilled to announce Bubblegum XX, the 20th anniversary edition on August 23rd.

Bubblegum is undoubtedly one of Mark Lanegan’s masterpiece records. A dark, throbbing malevolent cauldron of songs.

After years spent honing his craft as a songwriter, Mark took some time out to join his comrades in QOTSA which heavily informed his next visit to the studio.

The sessions for this record found Mark at one of his most creative and experimental peaks. Surrounded by an incredible collection of musicians,Bubblegum is the sum of all these extraordinary parts.

The original Bubblegum record, its sister EP ‘Here comes the weird chill’ & the bsides from those records have all been remastered at Abbey Road studios in London.

We went into his archive and we’ve pulled out some of the unreleased songs that were recorded during those same sessions and mastered those too. There was a wealth of astonishing material (that now adds Beck to the list of accomplices), and reading through Mark’s notes, we saw that all of these were included in the final running order at one point or another before the final tracklist was called.

The set is rounded out with a collection of demos produced by Troy Van Leeuwen. Troy recorded these in various hotel rooms on the Gold Coast of Australia when they were on tour. They are beautiful and included here in their entirety. A really special collection of recordings.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Bubblegum is the beginning of a small series of plans we have for this year.

Your kind words and love for Mark have been the source of much comfort in recent times, and we’re excited to be able to share with you previously unreleased material as a thank you.

According to Rolling Stone “The release will be available as a four-LP or three-CD set and will also come out digitally. All of the music, including the original album and the EP Here Comes That Weird Chill (Methamphetamine Blues, Extras & Oddities), which was a double-LP set, has been remastered at Abbey Road. Twelve of the 40 tracks in the collection have never come out before.”
