The first time I had to direct a straight scene, I was just fine until the woman got off her kit. For no reason I blurted out "wow... that's what those look like. OK. Uh... yeah. that's smaller than I thought they were."

I was very used to working with men... even straight men in scenes together I could get through and nothing would phase me. and trust me, on an adult movie set with two men... things can occasionally get a bit... out of hand.

I tell you this story because I want to show Mitt Romney some compassion and say that I too have lost my shit and said something really stupid when suddenly there are women in a place where I'm not used to seeing them. For me, it's naked in my viewfinder. For him, apparently, it's out from behind the stove.

Did you catch the part where he made the comment about how women want flexible schedules so they can get home and cook dinner? Or how he seemed to blame gun violence on single parents?

yeah i caught that. it is amazing how he can simplify such a multifacted problem into just 2 causes.

well he did talk about his binders of women...apparently his only concern is that her ass be home in time to have the man's dinner on the table ;)
can you believe he actually said that??? i thought he said be home in time to have the kid's food on the table, but i might be wrong. at any rate, since there is no "gasface" emoticon it is going to have to get this one..

    :fp:

well maybe romney will allow kids have some scraps from the servants table

i always made sure my kids were fed a good dinner when they got home from shooting up the neighborhood

His voting record clarifies it enough for me.

Holy fuck! I missed the food on the table bit entirely. That's crazy.
  • I'm desperately trying to finish an edit job before I head back into production tomorrow so I'll be as brief as I can.

While I'm sure Republicans are all blithering on about how "Romney brought a plan" and "Obama was light on facts" and all those other silly sound bytes, what struck me the most was how Mitt Romney sound-bit himself into a bunch of corners.

I could list a bunch. He was a total asshole. It wasn't laughing, it wasn't interrupting and it wasn't even "Candy... Candy... Candy...."

But there were a few death blows.

The part where he got fact-checked live by the moderator was one but MORE damaging was the look on his face. It's the same look when the waiter talks back to him. He's not used to being told he's wrong to his face. By people he thinks are his lessers.

Then of course after starting out with his vague "I know how to create jobs and I'll create 12 Million and I know how to do this" without any specifics at all... he very angrily spat "Government cannot create jobs! Government cannot create jobs!"

It was like every single bullshit talking point he memorized all came flowing out at once.

But the president saved the best for last... not just bringing up the 47% line but bashing him over the head with it.

Does that mean the president "won?"

Who knows... I can tell you that democrats are a lot more fired up than ever, now. Seeing someone call out Mitt Romney on his bullshit was great. That it was the president... THAT was even better.

Do any of you have kids. What is wrong with being home with the kids. Women know how hard it is to get off from their job in time to pick up kids from school or daycare, fix dinner, do home work, give baths, maybe get some house cleaning done before bed. Then get to bed at a decent hour just to get the kids up and ready, feed the kids, get to work on time and start all over again. It's very exhausting. I know men do these things also and they deserve the same rights, but it usually falls on the woman about 90 percent of the time. Being we have such a high percentage of fathers not even living in the home. Another reason parents are not involved at the schools is they don't have the time. Employers don't always care if you have to leave to take care of the kids.
The worst part about is for me was the homework. Helping with home work when I was mentally and physicality exhausted sucked. My kids are grown now but I had to pick up my granddaughter from school (after a nine hour day at work) because her parents could not get off on time. I did the dinner, bath and home work. The amount of homework 2nd 3rd and 4th graders have is over whelming. The days she did not have homework I think I was happier about it than she was.
I ask what is wrong with taking this in to consideration when jobs are discussed? Kids deserve to have there parents in there lives they deserve the supervision they need (especially teenagers). Parent should not have to rely on teachers or sitters. I feel this is why the kids today doing shit WE would not even dream of doing today.

So given the tenor of your statement is that it might help if middle class families didn't need two incomes to survive, and you're voting for someone whose somewhat non-existent tax plan would presumably tax these families more therefore meaning they need to work more and stay away from home?

ROMNEY DID NOT LOSE....AND OBAMA DID NOT WIN....HOWEVER I THINK PEOPLE ARE BIASED IN THE WAY THEY RECIEVE AND THINK THE MESSAGES THAT ARE SPOKEN. THEY CALL EACH OTHER LIARS AND SO FAR I HAVE BEEN FINDING OUT THAT OBAMA DOES LIE AND ROMNEY DOES LIE, SOMETIMES THEY KNOW IT AND SOMETIMES THEY DONT. I THINK ROMNEY IS WINNING OVERALL....AND HAMMERING HOME THE MESSAGE .....CAUSE PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING....AND ITS BEEN A LONG 4 YEARS.

ROMNEY PLAYS ON FACTS.....OBAMA PLAYS ON YOUR EMOTIONS

i have kids. but the point isnt about it being wrong in taking caring for children into consideration...its great. tis just that romney spoke only of giving women(not men) flexibility so they can have the opportunities they might otherwise miss out on. i just about gagged on my tea when he said it. i waited for him to mention daddies too... but not surprisingly he didnt. tho tbh i mightve been rendered deaf from the brilliance of his personality and compassion that im sure his goodly wife washed and ironed for him just before the debate. i guess we women create those babies through parthogenesis. we are so damn marvellous!!!!

ooh ooh i loved when romney basically said the children of illegals could earn their right to be part of the american dream* by doing miltary service.who else loved that???

And what a show! I loved it!!

It is helping me to decide because I base much on the person
always have. Being middle of the road and beliefs that encompass both parties
it is the final deciding factor for me ... Feeling.

I think it matters to the voters who are undecided. The debates are really the only chance to hear the candidates answer actual questions with the other person right there to refute what is said. It's not as meaningful as it should be, but it's possibly the most meaningful part of the campaign process.

I'm not sure if, at this point, there are actually undecided voters or those who SAY they're undecided because of the shit they anticipate getting from those who disagree...or just feel it's no one's business but their own.

Dimi, I think the debates won't do much to sway viewpoints - if anything, it cements one's stance.

For me, the debates reflect the participants' good (or not) sportsmanship, their ability to keep calm under pressure, to debate the issue and not tear down their opponent in the process, to present themselves as the leader they claim to be or want to be - and not in the "image" sense, either.
