I think Romney's mixing his numbers. He said he'll lower taxes for lower-income people but not for higher-income people, who will still be paying 60%. It's dollars in one part of the comparison & % in the other. You can't compare the two. If the higher-income people still pay 60%, the lower-income people will still pay 40%. If the proportions remain the same & the lower-income people pay less in $, the the higher-income people will necessarily pay more in $ - so that's a contradiction.

Middle class pays %35 and lower class pays about %5

After itemized deductions and factoring in graduated tax rates, most of the middle class is not paying the maximum tax rate of 35%. Probably more like a 20% - 25% effective rate. The middle class has a wide group of income though.

Wait - are y'all talking about % of income for each class or % of total taxes collected from each class? I was talking about the latter. I'm confused now. (Or was I confused before?)

romney did not clarify if he was for equal pay for women... he had a chance to do it on the record, but he didn't...

what a bumbling twit on that one, he's got 'binders of women' but not even a semblance of an answer for the young lady.

that and the candy crowley live fact check/beatdown was pure gold.

if krauthammer on faux news is scoring this a tko for obama, you know it was closer to a knockout for rest of the free world.

I was talking effective tax rate versus % of taxes collected by the group. Sorry, my bad.

he said to paraphrase, obama was better answering the smaller questions and being more direct, romney was better at talking about the big stuff, and was not as fluid. krauthammer spews obama hate, i listened for about 5 min thinking, yep-he knows what went down tonight...

Read it watched it. He did say terror but was not calling the Benghazi tragedy a terrorist attack. He went on many shows saying he did not know if it was a terror attack.

The first time I had to direct a straight scene, I was just fine until the woman got off her kit. For no reason I blurted out "wow... that's what those look like. OK. Uh... yeah. that's smaller than I thought they were."

I was very used to working with men... even straight men in scenes together I could get through and nothing would phase me. and trust me, on an adult movie set with two men... things can occasionally get a bit... out of hand.

I tell you this story because I want to show Mitt Romney some compassion and say that I too have lost my shit and said something really stupid when suddenly there are women in a place where I'm not used to seeing them. For me, it's naked in my viewfinder. For him, apparently, it's out from behind the stove.

Did you catch the part where he made the comment about how women want flexible schedules so they can get home and cook dinner? Or how he seemed to blame gun violence on single parents?

Holy fuck! I missed the food on the table bit entirely. That's crazy.
  • I'm desperately trying to finish an edit job before I head back into production tomorrow so I'll be as brief as I can.

While I'm sure Republicans are all blithering on about how "Romney brought a plan" and "Obama was light on facts" and all those other silly sound bytes, what struck me the most was how Mitt Romney sound-bit himself into a bunch of corners.

I could list a bunch. He was a total asshole. It wasn't laughing, it wasn't interrupting and it wasn't even "Candy... Candy... Candy...."

But there were a few death blows.

The part where he got fact-checked live by the moderator was one but MORE damaging was the look on his face. It's the same look when the waiter talks back to him. He's not used to being told he's wrong to his face. By people he thinks are his lessers.

Then of course after starting out with his vague "I know how to create jobs and I'll create 12 Million and I know how to do this" without any specifics at all... he very angrily spat "Government cannot create jobs! Government cannot create jobs!"

It was like every single bullshit talking point he memorized all came flowing out at once.

But the president saved the best for last... not just bringing up the 47% line but bashing him over the head with it.

Does that mean the president "won?"

Who knows... I can tell you that democrats are a lot more fired up than ever, now. Seeing someone call out Mitt Romney on his bullshit was great. That it was the president... THAT was even better.

Do any of you have kids. What is wrong with being home with the kids. Women know how hard it is to get off from their job in time to pick up kids from school or daycare, fix dinner, do home work, give baths, maybe get some house cleaning done before bed. Then get to bed at a decent hour just to get the kids up and ready, feed the kids, get to work on time and start all over again. It's very exhausting. I know men do these things also and they deserve the same rights, but it usually falls on the woman about 90 percent of the time. Being we have such a high percentage of fathers not even living in the home. Another reason parents are not involved at the schools is they don't have the time. Employers don't always care if you have to leave to take care of the kids.
The worst part about is for me was the homework. Helping with home work when I was mentally and physicality exhausted sucked. My kids are grown now but I had to pick up my granddaughter from school (after a nine hour day at work) because her parents could not get off on time. I did the dinner, bath and home work. The amount of homework 2nd 3rd and 4th graders have is over whelming. The days she did not have homework I think I was happier about it than she was.
I ask what is wrong with taking this in to consideration when jobs are discussed? Kids deserve to have there parents in there lives they deserve the supervision they need (especially teenagers). Parent should not have to rely on teachers or sitters. I feel this is why the kids today doing shit WE would not even dream of doing today.
