    ALOT of good came out of this game. 8-8 still is very likely.

    See this is where you and I are just at total opposite ends of the NFL Fan Spectrum. I don't believe anything really good came out of this. If we can't win a game where the defense gets 8 sacks and two picks and our offense has their best passing day in years, then what game can we win?

    Now don't get me wrong, I see what you're saying: there were a few positives yesterday. Maybe Tannehill can be a QB of the future. And maybe Philbin can be the coach of the future. But right now, today, we look just like every Wannsteadt/Saban/Sparano team; just playing well enough for some fans to say on Monday "well at least we didn't totally suck yesterday."

    The problem with this team (and every team over the past decade) is an inability to keep scoring when we have a lead...especially when we have to work so hard to get these slim leads. We were up 13-0 at half and were probably dominating meaningless shit like possession time, total yards, etc. But all it takes is a big play here or there (which are likely cause of our shitty secondary) and suddenly we're down. It was the same against the Jets. For the first 27 minutes of the game we "dominated" but were only up 10-0. A Jets FG before half and a score to open the 3rd, and suddenly everything we did in the first half was rendered useless.

    Down 14-13 on the road to an undefeated team w/ 7 minutes left and our rookie QB makes the right read to hook up with Hartline (That's something really good, they call it POISE in a big spot - something Matt Moore, Chad Henne and the like lacked, considerably, no?)
    4th and 2 - with 1:30 left - Nolan Carroll plays wrong coverage, gives up his side of the field and way to many yards and allows AZ to get the big completion and 1st down. AGAIN, as stated above, our secondary SUCKS!!!
    HORRIBLE PICK by Tannehill in OT = Feely FG to win it.

    2 picks and a fumble all in the 4th QTR and OT = we lose this game. Learning for the rookie. You need to lose these sort of games to win them in the future. I believe that 110%.
    Our secondary is horrible and allowing mediocre QB's look like Hall of Famers. "It it ain't tight, it ain't right"...
    Bengals pose a massive challenge. We still do a poor job of covering TE's and oh yeah, our secondary blows.
    You just are out of patience and not willing to give this regime time bro...it sux...I hate the losing culture. But I see what Philbin is doing. I see a team buying into a program. The outcome may be similiar to the Saban/Sporano regimes - but the end result (down the road) will be different. OL is in place, despite their poorest pass protection of the season yesterday. That AZ D is no joke. The QB played well enough to win. The no-name WR's played very well (except Neenee, he blows). The D front was awesome and the LB's did a lot better containing then in previous games.
    This game was winnable. Just like last week's game. Bad decisions by our rookie QB, missed FG's and horrible secondary = losses. Good news = all those things are fixable. Gotta have faith and patience.
    I believe man. 8-8 is def a possibility. Realistic also.

    Yeah maybe I'm out of patience but I think my pessimism is warranted. Nick Saban took over a 4-12 team had some early success, and finished the season 9-7. That worked out...but not for long. Sparano took over a 1-15 team and got them to 11-5. That also worked out...but not for long. So while I hope that Philibin turns out better, I'm not nearly as sure as you are that it will be the case. Remember, you thought the exact same thing about Saban and Sparano early on. Didn't you?

    I understand the whole "give the new regime time, bro" thought but you can also win a little while you build. If a team has no talent and is rebuilding, well then you lose and lose and lose until maybe next year or the year after when you win. But we have talent. We can win now. We can't win the Super Bowl now (or the division for that matter) but we have the talent to win those past two games, but we didn't. We have the talent to maybe finish 8-8 like you're hoping for, but will we?

    Look at Arizona, they said yesterday that was their 8th win by less than one TD in their last 10 wins. So obviously they do something that we don't do. THAT is all I want from this Phlbin regime; to find out how exactly teams WIN games. The Dolphins now how to play games. And make plays in games. But they really have no clue on how to win them.

    POSITIVES after 4 wks of real games:
    --> Tannehill is developing very nicely
    --> Javorski Lane aka' Human Bowling Ball' does a great Lousaka Polite impersonation
    --> Bess & Hartline are really good
    --> Pouncey might be the best Center we've had in a LOOOONG time
    --> Martin is playing well
    --> Sherman is loosening up the handcuffs a little bit
    --> P Brandon Fields is having an awesome go of it and getting us great starting position
    --> Education IS being served & for the first time in a LONG time there is genuine HOPE

    NEGATIVES after 4 wks of real games:
    --> 2 TO's (avg) a game HAS TO STOP (cost us 2 losses, possibly the HOU game)
    --> Neenee SUCKS
    --> Carroll SUCKS
    --> Clay sucks
    --> D. Thomas stinks
    --> Carpenter is no sure thing anymore
    --> Incognito has regressed in picking up blitzes
    --> Marshall gets beat too often and picks up too many penalties

    I have calmly watched this game now a full 2nd time...As bad as last week's loss to division rival Jets was, this one hurts even worse a 2nd time around...on the road, took the crowd out of the game, made their imposing D look pedestrian, got such great strides out of Tannehill, Hartline & Wake...held Fitz in check - even Bush wasn't used like he typically is - in spite of a mediocre day by Bush, we had this thing WON...ledbetterman10 is right, we can't finish. That needs to change QUICKLY or this thing could spiral into a 4-12 season in a hurry :cry:
    The coaching has improved, the rookie QB has improved and the DLine has finally made one of those release the hounds games...Cincy next week will be TOUGH. If our CB's and Safetys don't step up, eeeeeek...
    BELIEVE
    You GOTTA Believe
    Slowly, but surely, it's turning around
    PLUS - we are only 1 gm back in the DIV, with head to heads still w/ BUF & NE and another w/ NYJ...
    GO MIAMI!!!

    Wish I was down there with the DolFanatics!!! I used to go to 2 games every year for 10 yrs - then I had 3 kids and that stopped :lol:
    I've seen misery and broken promises (Wannstache/Saban) - I've also seen teams that had poor plans and bad direction (Sparano /Cameron). I've been waiting for a "true" staff since the days of Shula, and I firmly believe this regime (Philbin, Sherman, Turner, Coyle, Anarumo, Rizzi) are all great teachers, not looking for the "where can I coach next year" syndrome that has plagued this organization for over 15 yrs. Teachers. Leaders of men. Mentors. Guys who have belief, spawn men who then believe. These coaches, especially Philbin, have an outlined, detailed philosophy of how they want things, how this ballclub will present itselves and how they will win. If anyone thought it was this year that we'd see a 12-4 record they're blind and have no clue how football teams - GOOD football teams work.
    I believe and I feel better about where this Miami team is heading then I have in a long long time. Sadly it takes time. After next years draft and another year of Tannehill learning his surrounding talents weaknesses and strengths, after going through the necessary lumps of a rookie season, the future is extremely bright. Patience and belief. I have them both with some to spare for our brothers (and sisters) who need some. Like smiles, right?

    GO MIAMI!!!

    Did you ever get to go to a game at the Orange Bowl? Those were the best. Still remember the Monday Night Game in 85 against the Bears. I was seven and went with my Dad and older bro. Of course that season we ended up going to the AFC Championship game and lost to the Pats. That was a miserable game due to all the rain. I still beleive that if Miami had gone to the Super Bowl that year against the Bears, Miami would have come out on top. Marino's quick release would have beaten Buddy Ryan's 46 Defense just has he did that December night. I still go to one game a year...I got the wife and kids.

    Don't be shocked when come 10/31 that the Fins aren't dead...stout D and our division ain't exactly worldbeaters.
    Ya, secondary leaves a little to be desired and our rook will make some more picks. Call me crazy, I dig this team and direction! We'll know alot more about this teams makeup against a very good Cinci club...

    Looks like Nolan Carroll is getting the start today with Marshall out (bad back) :(
    He was the 3rd or 4th option @ CB when "Hard Knocks" was filming...
    We need him to have a career day or this one could get lopsided...
    Also, if Dan Carpenter struggles today, I say we start auditioning some kickers on Tuesday...we need him to get back to form!
    Cinci leads the NFL in sacks, so we will need our OL to play their best game of the season also!
    This is a BIG game - win and we are RIGHT back in the mix (Buff could lose today, Jets def lose on Monday and Denver miiiight beat NE) <- maybe a little bit of a reach... :lol:
    PLUS we have STL, NYJ, INDY & TENN on deck...start a little momentum today, get Philbin his first road win = the season is our OYSTER!!!!
    Love game day
    Love the Fins
    This will undoubtedly be our toughest test since opening day - AJ Green, Dalton, that D...
    C'MON MIAMI

    Great win! Really great defensive effort. Offense was pretty anemic and that huge day rushing against Oakland is starting to look kinda fluky. But whatever, a win is a win and again, the defense looked REALLY good. Holding them to FGs on short fields and only giving up one TD drive? Great job. Even the secondary played well.

    Will you please READ the posts. I said the over 200 yard rushing game against Oakland might have been fluky because our running game hasn't been very good since. Some of that has to do with Bush's injury...but he also has nowhere to run. So what if they're the #1 ranked defense after a few weeks?

    Anyway, nothing fluky about today's win. I did nothing but praise the D in my post. They were great. It was a great win.

    I read very well. Am I not allowed to disagree with "Offense was pretty anemic and that huge day rushing against Oakland is starting to look kinda fluky"???
    17/26 for 223 yds by our QB
    77 yds on the #1 D by our RB's (1 of which is banged up)
    Far cry from anemic...
    What were you expecting today? My guess, an outright loss, right?
    Easy turbo.
    I'm not knocking you or taking a shot, at all...Reggie is banged up. What did you expect against Cinci (#1 D going into today?) By last check, AZ's D isn't too shabby either.
    It's all good. We won. Our D played well enough to win. They sealed the win. Our rookie QB played very well.
    Enjoy.

    The D played more than well enough to win. It was their best effort in a while. It was very impressive to stop them on two final drive attempts. And yeah maybe "anemic" is a little harsh on the offense. Your boy RT17 didn't turn the ball over which is great. But the offensive line has to run-block better. And we really need to improve on stuff like the 6 minute drill at the end of the game. The D stood strong today, but the reason that we're 2-10 in our last 12 games decided by 3 points is because we don't finish teams off with our offense at the end. Hopefully that improves.

    Tannehill's game by game passer ratings: 39.0, 50.2, 86.5, 91.0, 92.3 = improvement !!!
    The Dolphins offense gained 279 yards and the defense allowed 298 yards to the Bengals.
    The Dolphins held the Bengals to 2-of-14 on third down conversions.
    Coach Joe Philbin saidabout Tannehill: "I thought he managed the game well. He made some good decisions, bought some extra time, found some guys that didn’t just automatically appear. He made some big plays.

    Great win! Really great defensive effort...the defense looked REALLY good. Holding them to FGs on short fields and only giving up one TD drive? Great job. Even the secondary played well.
    Fins haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher in 19 games now, best in the NFL. Bengals got 80 yards on 19 carries, but 29 came on one play

    Good road win today. This team is very competitive and except for that disaster at the end of the second quarter in Houston, they've been in every game. I'm starting to be more and more impressed with Tannehill and I'm staring to like them as a team. Still a long way to go with turnovers but they can get there. You can't hack up the ball against the good teams, they will kill you on that.

    I also just got my tickets for the 12-30 game in NE. Pretty excited to see them live again. Going in with a positive attitude to that game too. The last time I went they got slapped by the Pats 38-7. Hopefully a little better outcome this time.
    I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
