    Technically, 2 (full)
I have rewatched certain drives a few times more than that...we have lots to work on, but I'll be damned if a so-called fan is gonna rain on the first home opener win since 2005, during Jets week.
    F That!
    GO PHINS!!!

    you are hard core

Dude, respectfully, please root for another team, seriously. At every turn, your are throwing crap at the Fins, you have zero belief and you kill me for having optimism. Are you DS in disguise, or what? Dude, you are the same dude 7 days ago who posted on this thread "If they score an offensive touchdown against Oakland next week, maybe I'll begin to change my tune." 4 rushing TD's and 1 passing TD...!!!!!!!
Your lack of belief is on YOU, my friend. Your running back is 2nd in the league in rushing...your D is bending, not breaking and keeping us in games...your special teams is amongst the best in the league. If AZ can beat NE, who now doesn't have Hernandez for a stretch and seems to be struggling with their OL the first 2 weeks, and you are tied for 1st place in the DIV - what more do you want, in arguably a rebuilding year? The Fins cheerleaders to come to your house and jerk you off? C'mon Ledbetterman10, what a friggin buzzkill you are...
With the exception of a bad 6 min stretch vs Houston, they outplayed them. They were down at the half vs Oak and outscored them 28-3. Jeez louise....
We are starting to get some other folks besides me in this thread and your dousing it with negativity...kills me...
Dennis Mannering said: Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?
Sad to say, respectfully kind sir, yours most definitely IS NOT!!!
When we beat the Jets Sunday, then what? You gonna get down about what? C'mon bro...
    - Coach Philbin is trying to build something good here, in spite of the ineptitude of Jeff Ireland...
YOU NEED TO BELIEVE. That's what a TRUE fan does.
    GO MIAMI

I see what you're saying and I guess I shouldn't be such a negative nancy/buzzkill about the Dolphins. And you're right that I said I'd change my tune if they scored a TD and they did that and then some. But on the flip-side, you shouldn't be so over the moon over stuff like "outplaying Houston" (we didn't), and being in a 4-way tie for first place after week 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3flv5nWZgII). I dunno, it's just, you remind me of my 11 year-old self. He was the most hopelessly devoted/delusional Miami Dolphins fan there ever was. I've just been burned too many times by this franchise to get up for it like you do. I do during the games. I was jumping up and yelling when Reggie was breaking off those big plays. I enjoy it on Sunday. But by Monday I remember that we've had many great one-off games over the past 4 years but never put anything together to make a run.

But you're right. My self-loathing Dolphins fan routine needs to stop. And if they ever get to a point in the season where they have two more wins than they do losses, I'll begin to try and believe.

I've been a self loathing Dolphins fan since 85. I really can't figure out what time period was worse, the early 90's or the last 8 or so years. To get your hopes up every year that they would get to the Super Bowl and have them dashed or to know that there's no hope at all.

This year....just be patient. I like some of the things Tannehill has done but he has a long way to go. They need to resign Bush ASAP. He's finally starting to come into his own and he's a team leader. They need more push up front on the defensive side and I'd love to finally see a play maker at safety. I'm pretty certain, barring any meltdowns like the last 2 minutes in Houston, that they could win 8 or 9 games this year. I'm not scared of the Bills or the Jets and I think they can take one from NE.

I like Philbin, I think he's going to be good. He's better than that fist pumping moron they had last year and the porn stache idiot that roamed the sidelines in the early 2000's.

Your Fiedler thought was pretty good. He had balls but no talent.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

I think the early 90's were way better than the past 8 years. At least in the early 90's, it was fun to watch the team and they contended. We got beat out by a superior Buffalo team but such is life. At least we'd make the playoffs. The last 8 years have been a complete joke. It's amazing that the Wannsteadt/Fiedler years (which at the time seemed agonizing) was light years better than what we have now or have had in the past 5 years.

You said "they could win 8 or 9 games this year. I'm not scared of the Bills or the Jets and I think they can take one from NE." Think about what you've just said. I would wager a guess that you've said this exact same sentence every single year for the past 3 years. I know you have because I and every other Dolphin fan thought thought it too.

2009: "We made the playoffs last year! We can only improve! The Jets will totally suck with a new coach and rookie QB and New England is ripe for the taking with Brady coming off injury! (record 7-9, Jets make it to AFC Championship)

2010: "Well we took a step back last year but that's understandable. Pennington got hurt. Henne isn't completely developed (but he will be!) and now we've got Brandon Marshall! All we needed was a WR! Now we're set! And how much of a fluke were the Jets last year? We're gonna cream them this year." (record: 7-9, Jets return to AFC Championship)

2011: "Okay THIS IS OUR YEAR. Henne knows the offense now. Reggie Bush is a playmaker. And the Patriots have to suck eventually don't they?" (record 6-10, Patriots advance to their FIFTH FUCKING Super Bowl)

It's just sad. This team hasn't been to the AFC Championship since 1992. The Jets have gone twice since Rex Ryan took over. That truly sickens me. Not in a figurative way. Like...my stomach turns at the thought of what I just typed.

I really beleive that Tannehill will be the answer at QB. The way that Hartline was talking about him after the game its something I haven't heard from a Miami WR in a long time. I like Hartline but I think we need that true No.1 that can strech the field. I do think this team will win more games than that so called experts think they may win. Hopefully this coaching staff can can turn this thing around and make the Dolphins what they were....a premier NFL franchise. Miami got pretty crazy when the Heat won the NBA title...it will be alot crazier if the Dolphins win a Super Bowl.

Anyhow now to some bad news....on Sunday during halftime, Jeff Ireland was walking back to his suite abd ran into some fans. One of the fans told him he should fire himself. I'll post the article so you can see what happened next.

I agree with you they need to sign Bush and add a deep threat. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the team and Bush's agent will meet next month to talk numbers. It will be nice if they can come to terms and Bush doesn't have to be a free agent. I must admit I didnt think Bush was a great pick-up last year but I think with the numbers he put tp last year and so far this year I have been proven wrong.

I agree with you about the sickening of the Jets making it that far. I really don't see that anymore because their D is not as it once was. The Pats will suck when number 12 retires.....trust me, I live 35 minutes from Foxboro and I've had to endure the last 10 years. It's been hell. The Bills are are the Bills.

I understand the frustration. I still carry around the shitty memory of January 93 and that game against the Bills.

I'm sure Ledbetterman10 will turn my screws on this one, but here it goes:
I'm NOT a Jeff Ireland fan, haven't been for a long time...
I'm in the majority of the fanbase that would like to see the 'FIRELAND' banner flown from a prop plane during every home game...
I don't like that the guy was groomed by the relic Parcells...
All of that being said...I have ZERO problems with him calling one of the fans, who told him he should fire himself, an asshole, I really don't. Jeff is on a short rope, knows he's done a less than satisfactory job and is fighting for his career...let someone come into your workplace and have them tell you to fire yourself, just wonder how polite you'd be...
Again, I've got SERIOUS issues with Jeff Ireland as GM of my beloved Dolphins...
He lacks competent draft strategy ...
He has not provided this team with the necessary playmakers...
Asking Dez Bryant if his mother was still a prostitute, I still have a burn with that also(turned free agents away)
Frankly, I wonder about his ability/internal evaluation process of college players/free agents and the like...
Him standing up for himself and showing some fight and some cajones, more power to him. I put that along with finding Cam Wake in Canada, passing on Kyle Orton & Matt Flynn and getting rid of Brandon Marshall about the only things I can applaud...
He could have lied about it and didn't...let him fire himself, I'd be more than happy about it.
Kudos to Philbin and his staff for coaching up the gutty players we have on this team, his direction excites me and it appears guys have bought into the plan. They were awful happy for him after the win on Sunday.
Now, lets handle the Jets and deal with what really matters -

Yeah I was the same way with Henne and every Dolphins QB since Marino. It didn't take long to realize he didn't have "it". But as for the 1992 title game loss..as tough as it was...it wasn't nearly as bad as the horror that was the 1999 divisonal playoff game. Or as I like to call it, "The Day The Jacksonville Jaguars Raped And Murdered My Childhood"

(which you declined to respond to) so whatever.
I just re-read your response to me - I don't see a single question asked of me, sorry bro. Not avoiding anything or declining to answer anything, seriously...what was your question, I'll gladly answer it...If you are looking for a thank you for your response, then thanks. I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond and let up a little on the bitterness.
The Fins have broken my heart, just as they did yours and every other true fan of this club...there's 2 choices: dwell on the past or live for the future...I chose the latter and just know and believe good times are coming and this franchise can get back to the proud status it built. I refuse to get down on the club after week 2.
Plus nowhere did I say we were winning the Super Bowl this year. We are rebuilding for sure. But not in the "total rebuild" way most pundits assume. The D is there. The OL line is 3/5 built and improving. The ST is set and for the first time in a long time, the coaching staff is a true "staff", not a hodge podge of "his her theirs and ours", holdovers and mish mash from the Saban/Sparano regimes...all arrows pointing up my man :D
Now if we could get a really good GM, use our upcoming draft for NEED positions, attract a few free agents - why not believe?
    GO MIAMI
And happy pirate day to 81!

Well....bro....there was no question asked and I can't imagine any circumstance where I would ask you a question. Nor was I looking for a thank you. I was just saying that yeah, I'm gonna cut down on being the ying (pessimistic) to your yang (optimistic) and so I don't see why you'd think I'd "turn your screws" on an anti-Ireland rant.

This is where we differ immensely. I agree that dwelling on the past is no good. But I just don't see how you "just know and believe good times are coming".

But as for the 1992 title game loss..as tough as it was...it wasn't nearly as bad as the horror that was the 1999 divisonal playoff game. Or as I like to call it, "The Day The Jacksonville Jaguars Raped And Murdered My Childhood"
Hated to see Marino reduced to that...Jimmy was jumping ship - if you ever read "Shark Amongst Dolphins" that game will infuriate you even worse. Johnson admits he didn't properly game plan, took no advice/counsel from his coaches and completely quit aggressively trying to win after the first quarter got so sideways...
He didn't like Marino at the end, thought Danny was a detriment to the club. Johnson was a selfish coach, bull-headed and somewhat of a baby. There's reasons he ain't working today and why Marino had 100+ people in his life at the HOF ceremony, but Jimmy wasn't one of them.
That game was the worst loss of any team of any sport I've ever followed. And remember, we got Fiedler after that game based on what he did to a defense that gave up. It also ushered in the the Dave Wannstache movement.

That saddest thing about 1999 was that when Marino came back from injury...I didn't want him to start because Damon Huard was playing well. I've never read "Shark Among Dolphins" but I see it's on Amazon for like 3 bucks so maybe I'll pick it up.

edit: on second thought, I don't think I want to relive the Jimmy Johnson era. But to his credit, he did try to establish a run game and he drafted well (Thomas, Taylor, Surtain, Madison).

I was defending Jeff's decision to respond to "Sean" and call him an asshole. That's pretty unpopular in Dolphins-Land.
I hope you have a great day Ledbetterman10, and I look forward to the day we can wear our Marino jerseys, share a pint and talk about & compare all the shit we bought from the commercials after our team wins the Super Bowl someday! (Very jealous of those commercials 11 seconds after the Super Bowl is over and SI has the leatherbound Champion book, DVD, football, etc...)

Yeah my dad buys all that stuff when his Steelers win the Super Bowl. It must be nice.

And I have no problem with Ireland calling dude an asshole either. I have a problem with everything else pertaining to Ireland's existence...but not that.

The Thanksgiving Day game when he threw 5 picks was the most depressing thing I ever saw out of him. JJ wasn't bad building that defense but his picks on Offense were, well, offensive. I knew that year they were going to get pasted by J-ville. I'm just glad he got that last come back in Seattle.

That 99 season was so strange...everyone knew Jimmy Johnson was "forced" back by Huizenga, we started out so great - 8-2!!! The Bills swept us, then the Jets swept us, that humiliating Turkey Day game, the revival of Trace Armstrong, the payoff of that JJ built D, Marino's worst season - but that comeback on the road vs Seattle in the playoffs (and the SI cover that week to boot) was awesome...
We had a HUGE party for that Jax playoff game...my buddy and I cracked one beer (Rolling Rock  ) and didn't finish it, TONS of food went uneaten, nobody stayed and he and I sat there silent at the end of that day with WTF gazes...
That Turkey Day game sucked ass also. Hate losing on national TV on Turkey day. My same buddy and his fam were over. Those two losses are arguably 2 of Dan's worst performances = he and I (TO THIS DAY) have never sat and watched a Fins game together since that year...

The 99 season was bad but I think that 95 was worse. This was would be Shula's last year. This team was being picked by many to go to the Super Bowl. The team started out 4-0 and went on to lose the next three by a total of 9 points.

After Jimmy Johnson was hired, I thought it was a matter of time before we got to the Super Bowl. Well, I am still waiting....

Here's another horror story: the 1994 divisional playoff against San Diego. We were up 21-2 when I had to leave cause I had a YMCA basketball game. We were playing the Blue Team. I found myself daydreaming about the Dolphins during the game. "Man if we were up 21-2 when I left, we'll probably be up 42-4 when I get home!"

So I get home and flip on the TV and San Diego is kicking an extra point to go up 22-21 with like 50 seconds to go. Fuck. And Marino, bless his heart, leads the team down to attempt like a 42 yard field goal! That's all you can do. And whereas Adam Veneteri makes clutch kicks and thus Tom Brady is clutch, Pete Stoyonivic STOYYYS one off to the right and thus Marino can't get it done. Fuck.

My wife was my girlfriend then. She was visiting my fam in the Bay Area, on a small break from Maine. My Dad had planned an awesome night in SF for all of us. He was a Chargers fan at the time. So all day he's breaking my balls "don't get too worked up when the Chargers blow out your team, we're going all the way this year, blah, blah, blah". We had that incredible lead, I'm thinking there is no way we lose, etc...
Long story short, my fist that was 10x swollen from punching a hole through the garage wall in a fit of immature anger/stupidity after that game and was useless trying to cut steak @ dinner that night...hurt like a bitch during the performance of "Beach Blanket Babylon" that evening...and there were literally no words spoken to me or from me for a good 6 hr stretch.
Ahhh, good ol' Dolphins football

Ha, there's still a hole in my bedroom at my parents house from when I punched right through it during the Monday Night Miracle. A guy I know threw his recliner out of a 4th floor window after a Dolphins loss.

I just watched Marino from 93 and when he got hurt in Cleveland. That was probably their best team of the bunch. God, I'm fucking depressed now.

Just one, all I want is just one Super Bowl win. That's it. I'm not greedy.

Alright enough of the bad stuff. The Phins have given us fans plenty of good memories. Lets not forget the AFC Championship game in which the Phins won 14-0 in the old Orange Bowl. A.J. Duhe had 3 picks and retuned one for a TD. This was the first Dolphins game I remember. I was 6 years old an it was pouring rain.

Yeah but I was born in 1983 and became a Dolphins fan when I was about 6. So while I've always had great interest in those early 70's teams and will happily watch a documentary or read a book about them (look forward to Griese's new book), they're not "mine" ya know? Like....the Miami Dolphins (1966-1988) and the Miami Dolphins (1989-present) are two totally different franchises to me. My Miami Dolphins have never played in the Super Bowl. Ever.

YOU'RE not greedy? lol, all I want is a Super Bowl APPEARANCE. That's it. If they win, awesome. If they lose, so be it. But I just want the excitement of the two weeks leading up to that game. I want to watch endless hours of meaningless, repetitive coverage. I want to watch them walk out for the coin toss and be like "Whoa, this is REALLY happening! LET'S DO THIS!!!!!" I would love every second of it. I've watched many friends get to have it happen. Mostly Giants and Steelers fans. The worst was 2004. I'm from near Philly, but I hate the fucking Eagles. Believe it or not, I cheered for New England. I know I'm supposed to hate them and all...but at least at that point I had learned to live with them as the champions. I couldn't live with the Eagles as the Super Bowl champions. By the way, our best player retired in his prime to smoke pot that year.

1984 and losing that Super Bowl was one of my most traumatic experiences. 12 yrs old. Knew every player by #. Marino was my hero already. Grew up in Long Island. Every degenerate Jet cheering friend and relative became pseudo Niners fans...That Monday on the school bus I literally cried from the berating...trust me, being in it is great, the depression and let down after losing it and having to hear how Joe Montana is the greatest thing since slice bread is vomit-inducing.
Would love to play in it again. Could die with a smile on my face when we win. I only want one in my lifetime.
F Ricky the quitter f&%k-stick scumbug - hate that dude FOREVER for how he set our franchise back.
Not that I'm bitter or anything...

    News of the day 9/20:

    --> Revis IS playing Sunday
--> Blackout looms!!! Last time the Dolphins had a home game blacked out was 2000 playoffs against Indy. Last time in regular season was '98 vs. St. Louis.
Wow - over 12000 tickets available for this heated rivalry - Dolphins got a 24 hr extension from the league for the TV blackout. Team must sell 85 percent of non-club seats (51000) for blackout to be lifted.

Vs the JETS - arguably our #1 rival...how can this be??? If this game doesn't sell out, which one will? You think Ross buys up 10k + tickets???

    News of the day 9/20:

    --> Revis IS playing Sunday

Yeah I think Ross and CBS4 will but up the tickets. Sad thing is to work. I am trying to make out to the Jacksonville game on Dec. 16.
