8-8 this year is still the goal and dare I say 9-7 could happen. You saw today that we are missing a "key" piece and that is a shut down corner. Smith, while serviceable, blows dog, Dansby is over-rated and this D, while very good, hurts from not having a secondary to match the ferociousness of the front 7. Simple as that.
Tannehill played well. A few throws he'd like to have back. Running game took a step back and some play calling was whacky, especially in crunch time.

This was actually a nice reality check. Now we know this is a team is truly just rebuilding and that's it...no playoff chance. We'll just evaluate talent, let Tannehill develop, and [insert generic rebuilding-team term here]. The funny thing was me talking on the phone with my dad (a Steelers fan) before last week's games. I'm all like "Sorry dad. I have to cheer for the Giants this week because the Steelers and Dolphins are in direct competition with each other for a wildcard spot." He laughed like he always has. I couldn't help but laugh too.

We were flat today, Philbin's punishment of Bush hurt us...
This team played liked this game didn't matter...what a shame...more dropped interceptions, bad penalties and a feeling of "we've arrived" when in reality we haven't done shit...
That being said, I pity Buffalo on Thurs because they are going to get their asses handed to them...
Philbin had a few mistakes coaching wise, Tannehill finally had the rookie game we've feared and this defense rested on its laurels instead of slamming its foot on the gas pedal and making this team pay.

That sounds strange coming from you because most of the time you come off hopelessly optimistic (for example, saying "I pity Buffalo on Thurs because they are going to get their asses handed to them.") Anyway, it wasn't that far fetched to think there was a chance of the playoffs. The entire AFC is down. We were in the hunt. And the losses were close heartbreakers. Look at the Colts this year. Or the Bengals last year. You can have a "rebuilding year" with a rookie coach and rookie QB and have a shot at the playoffs. We are not good enough to go into a Foxboro a Pittsburgh, Bal or a Denver and beat those teams. Yes, I'm optimistic. Scan the threads - never said we were a PLAYOFF team. AFC is down for sure, but we are the 6 or 7th best team in the AFC thru 9 games. Not good enough. Rookie QB, Rookie coach = tuff games down the stretch.

We shall see what this team's character and grit is comprised of...love the short turnaround week - rival game on the road.
Watching the secondary again, its no wonder more teams don't blow us out, really. Indy, AZ, Houston now Tenn all exposed what this teams weaknesses are and have been all year: shoddy secondary (that's being kind) and no running game since wk 3. If you cannot consistently run the ball or defend the pass you will have a very tough time separating from the mediocre teams to the next level.
Let's see how they respond. I hate to see our team have their worse home loss in 40 yrs, but maybe, just maybe, this is a good thing in the sense that they tighten things up, fight hard and start a little streak. Bad penalties by every unit, 4 turnovers, inability to run and a bad QB day. We haven't seen that all in one game all year. Throw this one out, its an anomaly. No knee-jerk here...We still can be a 500 team, moving in the right direction.

GAME DAY
Love the Thursday night game, especially on the road after getting mauled 4 days prior
We shall see what Miami is made of tonight - I for one believe Miami wins this game. They are stewing, steaming and pissed from Sunday...
Buffalo has the WORST run defense in the NFL (163.7 yds pr/gm). Quite simply when we run it, the play action takes shape and so far Tannehill has thrived there...he also does well vs the blitz. I expect our OLine to have a much better game, however the rook (Martin) could have his hands full w/ Mario Williams. If Reggie and DT & Lamar Miller can't get going vs this bag of swiss cheese, we could be looking at some serious misery after Turkey day.
I'd love to see the D step up tonight as well. We all know Fitz and Co will throw it all over the secondary (which still is a steaming pile of platypus vomit) - and CJ scares me a bit as well. I do like Chan Gailey & Wannstache on that side of the field as they have tendencies to out think themselves and help the other team
We get to Fitzy early, we leave Orchard Park w/ a much need W and get back to the road of decency & improvement.
Buffalo is 2-13 against the AFC East in nearly three seasons under Gailey. The Bills have never won more than one game in the division, under him & are 0-3 this season! Buffalo has lost 5 of the last 6. Let's make it 6 outta 7 and put the proverbial fork in these guys!!!! We clean up some the penalties, getting it going on the ground, finally make a play in the secondary and get out of there with a much needed, rival win - prediction Mia 24 Buff 13
