I knew we were done when they made the FG before half. It was a rerun. What? You never saw this episode of the Miami Dolphins before? The one where they get an early lead and try to hold onto it for dear life but eventually the defense has to succumb. They air the episode like four times a season.

    Last 8 weeks (2 months) = 2-6
    Can't run it consistently
Can't stop the run in big spots
    Can't finish games
Only team to not score over 27 pts this year
Something weird happens with this team at the end of halves and beginning of 3rd quarters...
Coaching isn't great, sadly. I like Philbin as a person. Not sure he survives. Sherman is a lousy playcaller.
The Dolphins next loss ends their season for sure (alive at 5-6 is somewhat of a joke).
    Beat the Jets!!!!

I wouldn't mind losing Philbin. Let's face it, how is this team any different than any of Sparano's 7-9 teams? With seemingly more talent, they still manage to lose in the same tired old ways. Home losses to shitty teams (Buffalo), close-but-no-cigar efforts against sure-fire playoff teams (New England, Carolina), blow-out loss in prime-time to a great team (New Orleans). It's the same old shit. I saw a stat that said Miami has the most losses of 7 points or less over the past 4 years. That includes Sparano and Phlbin and it's very telling. We've always been "in" games against top teams. 2009 against the Saints, 2010 against soon-to-be-AFC champion Steelers, the game later that year when we beat the soon-to-be-world champion Packers on the road. On very rare occasions we pull out those close ones, but it doesn't happen as nearly often as it should and that's on coaching.

For better or worse, I want a coach that has had success and I know what I'm getting with him. Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher haven't coached in years. Maybe they'd suck if they were hired by Miami. But at least I know who they are and what they do. I'd love one of those guys. Saban? Cameron? Sparano? Philbin? What have any of these guys ever fucking done? I'm sick of this team "settling" for crap. This guy I work with is a Panthers fan and he was giving me the business about last week's game. And after listening to my lamentations, he noted "there's nothing worse in the NFL then when you're team is mediocre. Either suck or be good." My God he hit the nail on the head. This franchise is the very personification of "mediocre" and has been for about 20 years now. It's the monotonous mediocrity that sucks the life out of me. If they sucked every year like the Browns I'd have a laugh, if they contended every year like the Patriots I'd throw a party, but instead they're precisely in between. If you added the Patriots and Browns and divided by 2, you'd have the Dolphins.

Can't argue with anything you said. Cowher & Gruden have both won Super Bowls, are pretty good leaders of men and took over franchises that were mediocre and got them back to prominence.
Ledbetterman10 for GM of the Dolphins!!!
Philbin seems to be a knowledgeable football guy. I think this years version of poo is hurt by a weak OL, poor LB's, rookie kicker and lack of a consistent running game. Can someone coach that? I dunno. I think this croney-ism with Sherman and Turner hurts this squad for sure.
I hope we beat the Jets.

I lucked my way into tickets at the LIV suite for the Panthers game... bottle service, etc... it was hilarious. But this team is truly sad to watch. From the standpoint of the final score, the Dolphins are so close, but really, they're not. Can't believe the Fins punted with 4 minutes left in the game on 4th and 2. Get 2 yards and YOU WIN THE GAME. I dunno, it's frustrating. Personally, I like Philbin... but if Belichick is coaching this team, the Fins are 8-3 right now.

Despite all of this, the Fins are still tied for the 6th playoff spot... need to focus on winning and hope for some Ravens losses.

    Lastly, FUCK THE JETS.

I would LOVE to see my beloved Fins win a cold-weather, meaningful game in December in Pittsburgh today. They haven't there since 1990? Wow.
Past performances in the last decade tend to make one believe we might lose a heart-breaker on the road today, but gosh dang it, call me Kool-Aid kid, I think we actually beat THIS Steelers team (banged up Oline, can't stop the run that well), in a cold weather road game with playoff implications.

That was too close for comfort. We kinda deserved for Brown to take that final play to the house. But I'll sure as hell take the win. Good job by Tannehill bouncing back after that horrible pick-6. And Charles Clay is a beast. Good thing I didn't start him in fantasy.

And holy shit...fuck the Minnesota Vikings for blowing that game against Baltimore. That was pathetic.

And holy shit...fuck the officials for giving the Patriots that bullshit pass interference call that put them down to the 1-yard line. Total bullshit.

    Waaaay to close for comfort
Tannehill bounced back well and Clay was clutch
Big Ben's lateral NEVER would have been allowed as it was a forward pass, but I was almost in tears when Brown crossed that goal-line.
Vikings only win a few games all year and those final minutes showed you why. They are horrible.
Horrible is also a description for the refs who gifted the Pats on one of the worst PI calls in the history of PI calls.
We won a game today against a very good Rothlisberger and a D that came to play.
Our D bent all afternoon and made me nervous, but Wake and Co. sure woke up and handled biz at the end.
Hell of a win. Going into mid-Dec with a shot at the 6th seed = all you can ask for. 3 AFC East games in a row to handle.
    Go Fins.

What a game. I couldn't believe the end there but isn't ironic that Brown steps out and with the whole sideline debacle Tomlin had all week. Tough game next with NE coming down to the stadium formerly known as Joe Robbie. I am hoping for a packed house with Dolfans.

    Best win in years.
    Absolutely.
Big meaningful December game, against Brady, at home, Fins win. :D
    Very happy.
Very hopeful. Hopeful we do NOT forget the loss vs Buffalo and handle business next Sunday.
It is often times easy to get hyped up and overlook the Bills and their D is playing great.
Neither of the last 2 games (Bills Jets) will be easy.
    Love the maturation of Tannehill.

I know the future is bright and I am going to say it right now a Super Bowl is the near future is not a dream but I think it will be a reality. I got by bottle ready. GO DOLPHINS!!!!

    Win out and we're in!

That's right. I was disappointed to see the Ravens beat the Lions last night. Thought that would mean we'd have to win out and have a Ravens loss. But that's not the case. If the Ravens win out, they'll win the AFC North over the Bengals and we'd have the tie-breaker over the Bengals if we finished tied with them. So beat the Bills and the Jets and it's on to the playoffs. Certainly anything can happen and I'm not selling them short....but I can't think of two opponents I'd prefer over the Bills and the Jets.

Actually we can clinch the wildcard this week with a win and losses by the Bengals and Ravens and can win the division with two wins and two NE losses.

I know its highly unlikely that NE goes into a 3 game losing skid and the Dolphins win the division. But just imagining that scenario and considering where the Dolphins were a little over a month ago with the losing skid and bully-gate. Coach Philbin and his staff has done a heck of a job with this team considering all the distractions it had to endure. I feel like the ship is turning around.

In my mind, facing the Bills and Jets in must win late December meaningful games is exactly what this Franchise needs to prove to it-selves, its fan-base and the rest of the league that this ain't yer'ol Fins. Your old Wannstache Fins... The old fold up shop in cold Jimmy teams... The FG happy Sparano teams...

Philbin not only has a chance to put his stamp on this team, but imagine the belief these guys are going to have in him should they execute, prepare and win these two VERY TOUGH football games.

4 game losing streak, locker-room upheaval, NFL investigation, last years leadership council jettisoned...think about what this man and this team have overcome...
And as great as Sundays home win vs. the Pats was (and still is today  ),it will mean NOTHING if we can't go on the road and handle business against a Bills team that would love nothing more than to take the sweep from us this year. The next 2 defenses (Bills and Jets) both make me uneasy. They are both well coached and have not quit.

I cannot wait for Sunday. Tough conditions. Tough environment. Tough opponent. Lots on the line. How will our beloved Fins respond. Dec 22nd and we have a hell of a meaningful game on our hands. Been a long time since we can say that.

    O-Line couldn't protect
    D couldn't stop the run
    Bummer
Congrats to the Bills, 14 straight playoff-less seasons, this was big and they handled business.
Swept by Buffalo, loss to TB, missed FG's vs. Balt - anyone of those games goes the other way, we might be talking about something positive this afternoon.

Swept by Buffalo, loss to TB, missed FG's vs. Balt - anyone of those games goes the other way, we might be talking about something positive this afternoon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-IkWpm7TS0 Same old Dolphins. It's fitting they followed up their best win in years with their worst loss in years. Fuck. All things considered, I guess I like this year's team better than the final two Sparano teams. I'm more optimistic about the future now than I was two years ago. But still, just another 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, "whatever" season with embarrassing losses aplenty.

Not giving up hope though. The playoff scenario (at least by my calculation) is:

Win + Ravens Loss OR Chargers Win

Finished 3rd in the division....again. And to be honest, that's where we belong. Dominated by the Bills and the Jets the past two weeks. DOMINATED. Fuck.

    Yep
    Rex keeps his job
We were honestly the worst team in the AFC East...Buffalo's D is legit, Jets never quit...Fins can't say the same
Tannehill is going to have a loooong offseason thinking about these last 2 weeks, especially today, horrible throws and he was kept upright.
    Sickening.
Ireland has to go, Sherman too
Need an OL, new punt returner, get rid of Nolan Carroll, bring back Lou Polite or someone who can get 1 ft on 3rd/4th & short
    Bummer

I'm so disgusted having had a few hours to digest this. The disparity between what could have been (the playoffs!) and what is (the Jets are better than us) is so saddening.

Two things about Tannehill. 1. His deep ball is pathetic. Wallace had burned guys maybe a dozen times this year and always gets over/underthrown balls for his efforts. Dierdorf was all over Tannehill today when he missed Wallace and I'm happy he was cause it's very bushleague how he misses those throws.

    2. That play where he scrambled on third and really long, and then slid like a pussy just short of the line to gain made me want to rip my hair out of my head. Of course a brain-dead, predictable handoff to the fullback followed on 4th down and failed but fucking come on, Ryan. Lower your shoulder and make a play.

    Till next year, gentlemen.
