I wouldn't mind losing Philbin. Let's face it, how is this team any different than any of Sparano's 7-9 teams? With seemingly more talent, they still manage to lose in the same tired old ways. Home losses to shitty teams (Buffalo), close-but-no-cigar efforts against sure-fire playoff teams (New England, Carolina), blow-out loss in prime-time to a great team (New Orleans). We've always been "in" games against top teams. 2009 against the Saints, 2010 against soon-to-be-AFC champion Steelers, the game later that year when we beat the soon-to-be-world champion Packers on the road. For better or worse, I want a coach that has had success and I know what I'm getting with him. Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher haven't coached in years. Maybe they'd suck if they were hired by Miami. This franchise is the very personification of "mediocre" and has been for about 20 years now. It's the monotonous mediocrity that sucks the life out of me. If they sucked every year like the Browns I'd have a laugh, if they contended every year like the Patriots I'd throw a party, but instead they're precisely in between. If you added the Patriots and Browns and divided by 2, you'd have the Dolphins.

Philbin seems to be a knowledgeable football guy. I think this years version of poo is hurt by a weak OL, poor LB's, rookie kicker and lack of a consistent running game. Can someone coach that? I dunno. I think this croney-ism with Sherman and Turner hurts this squad for sure.

I lucked my way into tickets at the LIV suite for the Panthers game... bottle service, etc... it was hilarious. But this team is truly sad to watch. From the standpoint of the final score, the Dolphins are so close, but really, they're not. Can't believe the Fins punted with 4 minutes left in the game on 4th and 2. Get 2 yards and YOU WIN THE GAME. I dunno, it's frustrating. Personally, I like Philbin... but if Belichick is coaching this team, the Fins are 8-3 right now.
Despite all of this, the Fins are still tied for the 6th playoff spot... need to focus on winning and hope for some Ravens losses.

Past performances in the last decade tend to make one believe we might lose a heart-breaker on the road today, but gosh dang it, call me Kool-Aid kid, I think we actually beat THIS Steelers team (banged up Oline, can't stop the run that well), in a cold weather road game with playoff implications. That's right. I was disappointed to see the Ravens beat the Lions last night. Thought that would mean we'd have to win out and have a Ravens loss. But that's not the case. If the Ravens win out, they'll win the AFC North over the Bengals and we'd have the tie-breaker over the Bengals if we finished tied with them. So beat the Bills and the Jets and it's on to the playoffs. Certainly anything can happen and I'm not selling them short....but I can't think of two opponents I'd prefer over the Bills and the Jets.
Actually we can clinch the wildcard this week with a win and losses by the Bengals and Ravens and can win the division with two wins and two NE losses.

Philbin not only has a chance to put his stamp on this team, but imagine the belief these guys are going to have in him should they execute, prepare and win these two VERY TOUGH football games.

I'm so disgusted having had a few hours to digest this. The disparity between what could have been (the playoffs!) and what is (the Jets are better than us) is so saddening.
Two things about Tannehill. 1. His deep ball is pathetic. Wallace had burned guys maybe a dozen times this year and always gets over/underthrown balls for his efforts. Dierdorf was all over Tannehill today when he missed Wallace and I'm happy he was cause it's very bushleague how he misses those throws.
2. That play where he scrambled on third and really long, and then slid like a pussy just short of the line to gain made me want to rip my hair out of my head. Of course a brain-dead, predictable handoff to the fullback followed on 4th down and failed but fucking come on, Ryan. Lower your shoulder and make a play.
Managed to score tickets to Miami @ Oakland (@Wembley) next year. Can't wait, its been a dream of mine to see the 'Fins. Hopefully, we'll have a new GM by then!

Two things about Tannehill. 1. His deep ball is pathetic. Wallace had burned guys maybe a dozen times this year and always gets over/underthrown balls for his efforts. Dierdorf was all over Tannehill today when he missed Wallace and I'm happy he was cause it's very bushleague how he misses those throws.
2. That play where he scrambled on third and really long, and then slid like a pussy just short of the line to gain made me want to rip my hair out of my head. Of course a brain-dead, predictable handoff to the fullback followed on 4th down and failed but fucking come on, Ryan. Lower your shoulder and make a play.
