    Poor Clint...
I grew up in Carmel, CA when he was the Mayor
Had a chance to play a few holes of golf with him @ Quail Lodge
He and my father worked on the AT &T Jr golf program on the Monterey Peninsula
BIG fan of his movies and his jazz career
Last night was horrific...Democrat, Republican, Tea Bagger, Indy - doesn't matter...
The guy was ill prepared, not funny, embarrassed not only himself, but Mitt and the President...
    WTF???
    Extremely odd...
My grandpa was 78, we didn't let him near the remote control -
Very sad. I feel really awful for Clint. Romney can't be happy about that performance at all.
How can anyone defend that nonsense? What cracks me up is this --> all of the Republican big wigs & cheerleaders (Rush Limbaugh, Dennis Miller, Sid Rosenberg, Sean Hannity) who were live commenting for Paul Ryan, Rubio, Mitt - where are all the comments about Clint? Where's the defense of this American institution? Can't find them because YOU CAN'T DEFEND what he did...
"Can't have a lawyer be President???" Mitt went to Harvard Law - 30 Presidents have been lawyers...
    Ridiculous.
Took 11 minutes for me to completely change my opinion of someone I respected so highly.
    Bummer and sad.
PS - Mitt has no shot at the Presidency btw. This could be a blowout. I'm independent, btw and WANT to be informed, swayed and convinced by someone. Mitt & party (and their belief in magical bloomers) didn't accomplish that.

'You Did Great!' Terrified Personal Assistant Tells Clint Eastwood

TAMPA, FL—Following Clint Eastwood’s surprise speech Thursday evening at the Republican National Convention, in which he used catchphrases from his old movies and addressed an empty chair as though Barack Obama were sitting in it, absolutely petrified personal assistant Tim Weddle nervously informed the famed actor and movie director that he “did great!” “Wow, that was amazing! Seriously, you were really, really great—everyone loved it so much,” a trembling Weddle carefully told Eastwood moments after the 82-year-old film legend finished his speech and walked slowly off the stage. “And you were so funny, too! Oh my God, so funny. The chair thing went over really well. You should have heard the laughter and applause from out here, Clint. Honestly, Clint. Honestly. And you looked so young, too!” At press time, a perspiring Weddle was frantically trying to keep Eastwood as far away as possible from any televisions, computers, or newspapers.

I didn't see his speech last night but just watch it now and to be honest, i felt bad for him.

I don't know why he was there and why they would put him in prime time.

He should go back to making movies and leave the politics to others.
I'm the same way - and it's not a flaw! It's compassion, being human.

I adore the man too, but respectfully disagree about his leaving politics aside. I find his point of view refreshing, especially in the midst of mostly-rabidly-liberal Hollywood. I like those who speak their mind honestly and logically, even if they're in the minority - and, even if I disagree with them.

    (perhaps he'd just do better in a one-on-one setting :D )

That was the stupidest zombie movie I've ever seen.

The only way to end his career on a lower note would be if he's shit his pants right there.

What a humiliating display. But proof that the only celebrities republicans can get are either angry white yokels like Charlie Daniels or crazy old men like Clint Eastwood.

Whatever dude. Is it because he doesn't share your thoughts? You could only hope for 1/10 of his career.

I agreed with you before last night about his involvement in politics, but now I've changed my mind! I don't want him to take the risk of doing something like this again!

You know very little about my career.

And no, it's because he was clearly confused, unable to read his lame jokes off his TelePrompTer and resorted to a bizarre, rambling story that just made him look like the Crazy Old Man from The Simpsons. He became a joke and people are now laughing at how poorly he did and what a fool he made of himself. He's had an incredible career and now his obituary will include the story of how he made a complete ass of himself on national TV and became a meme about telling off living room furniture.

You can take all the personal stabs at me that you want. I've had better people than you say nastier stuff than that and I honestly don't give a shit. If I lost a tear for every random stranger on the internet who said bitchy things to me, I'd have been dead of dehydration years ago.

But if you're going to say he didn't look confused and overwhelmed and crazy... well, then "whatever, dude."

Some people (in Hollywood) are so into them selves they have no empathy for others. You can tell these people by how many times they post there own photo to a forum or links to there body parts.
So it was not a stellar performance. He has so many stellar performances it does not matter he will ALWAYS be know as a tough guy. He did not have to sell himself as a guy with a big package....he made it for decades because he had the talent.....and is respected by millions for that reason. With age comes wisdom..........

And with even more age it goes away, apparently.

Look, you can take all the childish stabs at me you want. I mean it. Clearly it doesn't bug me.

I'm pointing out is that the RNC's dumb-ass "game-changing surprise" was yet another doddering old white man going on stage and acting like a doddering old white man.

He told some very unfunny jokes that made him look like a bit of a jerk (what was so funny about "Oprah was crying" line? The audience lost their shit over that one and I still couldn't figure out what the setup was that made that funny).

He took a few cheap shots and then had an argument with a chair.

He then got the audience to shout out "Make My Day" and then wandered off the stage.

I know how much you're trying to deflect the vitriol and blame and try to minimize the damage done... but honestly... he didn't do his own legacy any favors last night.

Yeah, sometimes that' true and in this case it's sad. I may never have agreed with Eastwood on all of his politics, but he was liberal on some issues and conservative on others and seemed to have a mind of his own and a very good ability to speak it. Sadly, there seems to be much less of that mind these days. And I don't say that jokingly- at all. I've lost a couple of very close people in my life to dementia/brain aging/Alzheimer's.

Ok except that video has been debunked over and over. Most of the answers you heard weren't answering the questions you were told they were answering. Not all of those people were Obama voters and it was edited by someone who openly admitted that he did it to make Obama voters look clueless.
