I guess what I'm trying to get at is the "green people" no matter how in the right they feel they are...are living a lifestyle they point fingers at. Perhaps to a lesser degree in some respects, but still in that lifestyle. They judge others and use terms like "you should" or "it's only right if you" or "you need to do this". It's like a preson who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day trying to tell a person who smokes 2 packs a day to stop smoking. Who is anyone to judge? Until these people live totally off the grid as it's put, worry about themselves and what makes themselves feel good.
DS, this black and white outlook does absolutely nothing to further the conversation of "green" thinking. Every single living thing has an impact on its environment and that is plant, animal, and human. Things can't live unless they take sustenance from their surroundings. It isn't about trying to have zero impact, it's about responsibly minimizing that impact to the degree possible. I bike when I can, I have desert-scaped what was once a giant lawn, I recycle everything I can, I didn't have kids because there's enough fucking people on this planet to begin with, my vacations consist of me walking in the wilderness with a backpack on, and on and on and on, but do I have an impact on the environment? You bet I do, but I try to educate myself on the subject and do it as responsibly as possible. How about trying to be part of the solution rather than trying to mock people for what you yourself should be participating in...
Good luck, dude. He has already made it clear that he thinks pollutants just disappear and do nothing, so obviously logic doesn't resonate.

I think what DS is trying to do is start a 12 Step group for hypocrites.
Hi, I'm brianlux and I'm a hypocrite.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is the "green people" no matter how in the right they feel they are...are living a lifestyle they point fingers at. I get where you're coming from DS. It's easy to condemn, much more difficult to walk the walk. I almost always try to phrase my statements with something along the lines of "we would do well" and try to have enough self awareness to admit my own mistakes and short-comings. Yes, unless one is living as a "leaver" (i.e. practicing true sustainability) and not a "taker" (as Daniel Quinn put it in Ishmael) then we are all hypocrites to some extent. Understanding that is important. It's also important to understand that unless the majority of us live as "leavers", civilization is imperiled and maybe that's our fate. I'd just like to see the grand experiment of humanity last as long as possible. Some more cynical people would like to see it end. I don't agree with that perspective but I understand it.

They do as a whole. The Earth has a funny way of doing that. If it doesn't then I guess we should just stop wasting money on "green space" in urban enviroments correct? I mean if the shits already in the air and dirt it's too late. Fuck it.
If you got into a car today, you're a hypocrite. If you rode a train today, you're a hypocrite. If you are reading this on a computer, you're a hypocrite. If you plan on watching TV today, you're a hypocrite. If you are reading a book, you're a hypocrite. If you are wearing clothes, you're a hypocirite. If you have a refigerator, you're a hypocrite. If you use A/C, you're a hypocrite. If you drink water from any source than directly from a natural body of water that you obtained yourself, you're a hypocrite. If you just happened to obtain that water yourself and used any man made container, you're a hypocrite.

why...?
You're all about the enviroment if you're "green" right...so why do they keep contributing to the problem living their lives while at the same time preaching to others how to live their's. I do nothing but laugh when I get handed a paper pamphlet on a street corner or in a mall about saving the enviroment. Oh the irony of it as I crumple it up and toss it away.

I don't disagree with the judgments and being preached to (by anyone...hmmm  ). Suggestions are fine, I'm typically open to them on most subjects.
But why the need to continue this silliness, on and on? Your point was made in the post I quoted.
I get it. I think most get it.
Do you really expect anyone to 1) take you seriously, and 2) have an intelligent discussion with you on the issue?

It seems like your answer would be "no".

"I need your strength for me to be strong...I need your love to feel loved"
Dammit i should have thought of that
The point of being "green" is not to have no carbon footprint, but to minimize your impact given the resources available.
Please define "minimizing" your carbon footprint...at least how you define it?
