The point of being "green" is not to have no carbon footprint, but to minimize your impact given the resources available.
I just wanted to quote this, because this kind of hits the nail on the head.
I'm sorry too for those who have had to go through the very difficult situation of having a loved one on life support. To have that be made light of and used as a weapon when trying to literally beat a point home, well it's just cruel.

Anyone who says they're not a hypocrite is also a liar.
But it's always good to do the best we can each manage to as flawed people, since every little bit counts.
Well said. Sometimes the simplest answers are the best.
Who are the "green people" you are referring to here, DS, the ones you say are preaching and telling people what to do? My recollection is- and this is how I try to frame my own posts regarding environmental issues- that most of the "green" posts are ideas that are useful for doing what we can to reduce our impact on the environment and reduce our carbon output which is driving climate change. I don't recall any of us claiming that we are not part of the problem. It seems to me that what we are doing is trying to find ways of being a smaller part of the problem. I don't recall anyone telling others what they should do to help protect the environment so much as making suggestions along those lines. It seems to me that the goal of most environmentalists these days is to lessen our impact in order for us to buy more time to find more solutions in order to further reduce our impact. I don't recall anyone here saying that they are blameless and not a part of the problem. Accepting personal responsibility for something while trying to find ways of reducing that impact does not seem all that hypocritical to me.

We didn't create the problem - although we have certainly made it worse. It is simply a matter of doing what we can. All we can do is try to do better and it will still not be enough. However, continuing to wallow in the mindset of all or nothing change will never make it better.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...
Guess I can thank DS in a roundabout way...got off (the board), blasted up No Code.
This album (along with Yield) comprises some of my favorite and most beloved music from this band.
Sometimes (humility, the beginnings of awareness), Hail Hail (gratitude), Who You Are (come to terms), In My Tree (found myself, you with me?...maybe share a bowl too).
We're on Smile now.
My own perception, I know...but being here, in this gorgeous place of music (that brought us all here), I will give a loud and heartfelt "fuck off" to anyone trying to make a point through vitriol and assholed-ness.

Happy Sun-day.
We are so on the same wave length! I am currently listening to No Code as well!

Yep, as soon as I saw this first post, I put it right on while I prepping some chicken to throw on the grill. Great fucking album. Cheers.
